Mecha Monday: GIGANTOR - Season 1

Gigantor is a 1963 anime adaptation of Tetsujin 28-go, a manga by Mitsuteru Yokoyama released in 1956. It debuted on US television in 1964.

The series is set in the year 2000. The show follows the exploits of little Jimmy Sparks, a 12-year-old boy who controls Gigantor, a huge flying robot, with a remote control. The robot is made of steel and has a rocket-powered backpack for flight, a pointy nose, eyes that never move and incredible strength, but no intelligence (although he started to tap his head as if trying to think in one episode). Whoever has the remote control controls Gigantor.

Originally developed as a weapon by Jimmy's father, Gigantor was later reprogrammed to act as a guardian of peace. Jimmy Sparks lives with his uncle, Dr. Bob Brilliant, on a remote island. Jimmy usually wears shorts and a jacket, carries a firearm and occasionally drives a car. Together, Jimmy and Gigantor battle crime around the world and clash with the many villains who are always trying to steal or undermine the giant robot.

Atragon (1963) - American Theatrical Trailer

The Mu empire, an underwater civilization that sank to its present location a millennia ago, proclaims a battle cry to the Earth. The submerged kingdom declares war against all nations, destroying US subs and Japanese ships while causing disasters like earthquakes to befall cities. Humanity's hope falls on a single ship, one originally envisioned to win World War II. That ship, the Gotengo, was an all purpose war machine: capable of air, water and underground combat. Created by Captain Hachiro Jinguji, the man was a patriot, filled with an unbending honor toward his country. Jinguji had revolted against the surrender of Japan in World War II, and ever sense had planned to use the Gotengo as the tide turner when Japan was to remobilize. Jinguji did not see the Mu as the threat he was waiting for. He ultimately realizes their danger after they kidnap his daughter, which sends the Gotengo into action...

Lanchester Mk.II BY Shouting Into The Void

Peter Fitzpatrick at Shouting Into The Void

This is my 1:100 scale (15mm) Lanchester Mk.II that I had printed in high-definition black acrylate by Shapeways. The color is supposed to be the British army's *Deep Bronze Green*, their standard peace-time color for AFVs on home service during the interwar period. It's a color that consistently defeats me; I can never seem to get close to it. Vallejo do a Bronze Green in their VMC range, but it's nothing like the army color, being more like the color of actual green bronze.

Tanker's Tuesday: Retro-Steampowered

Breakthroughs in power technology in the late 19th Century made possible large steam-powered fighting vehicles as early as 1880. Upon hearing of German experimental models, the British established the RNLS (Royal Naval Land Service) in 1882, and the French and Americans soon followed suit. The German landship sent to Ouargistan for testing so awed the native chiefs that the other powers had to bring in landships of their own to save face, launching an absurd arms race in the primitive subcontinent. This is the fictional universe for the Landships of Ouargistan games.

Fortress Moon ...part II

The Story So Far...

FORTRESS MOON takes place in a alternate retro-future where WWII lasted longer than anyone expected. Due to the strain of war, resources on Earth were heavily depleted. However, after successfully reaching the Moon scientists found a priceless ore that when refined created Element Z, which is highly sought for nuclear fusion and is used as a supreme source of energy.

By 1976 the three superpowers had set up mines and refineries on the moon; digging up and shipping back the energy source to Earth. It was hard work with long hours and the workers and families felt they weren't being properly treated. So the Great Revolt on the Moon began.

The Miners and their families seized the refineries and drove back anyone that didn't support their cause. They began calling themselves Lunar Colonists and through the whole lot of the them were from different back and nationalities they stood as one, separating themselves from Earth.

This event didn't boded well with the superpowers one Earth and they declared War on the Moon. The United States, Soviet Union, and Republic of China, gathered their spaceships and launched an assault on the Moon.
As they did the Lunar Colonists prepped themselves for war, coverting mining equipment, robots, and vehicles into weapons.

Buck Rogers In The 25th Century

Buck Rogers XXVc (The 25th Century) [BOX SET]
TSR was the grand-daddy of Role Playing Game companies. Best known for Dungeons & Dragons, TSR actually developed many other games (some fine, others less than great), but none ever approached the popularity of D&D.

Interestingly, TSR had much trouble coming up with a science fiction RPG, and wanted badly to emulate the success of the Traveller RPG at rival company GDW. In 1990, they secured the license to the Buck Rogers franchise, and developed a game around it. The game never received a huge audience, but it wasn't for a lack of trying. In addition to game supplements, they published Buck Rogers novels, comics, and even a board game.

I found this in a box of stuff I was sorting through...think I bought it in 1990 never played it
so it is complete......
