Saw this article on Yahoo the other day, it applies to us.  Would be pretty hilarious to have a miniature version of yourself as your imperial guard... I mean astra militium commander.

Hey for $79 we spend on a lot of stupid things, I guess there could be worse spend of money?  The best part is, no paint required.  Three color minimum for tournaments is covered!

Hobby in the Back Seat: Damn you SWTOR!

You know it happens, when real life takes hold and the hobby takes a back seat.  Well this time it's for not so noble reasons... a computer game.  I picked up Star Wars: The Old Republic and I'm hooked.  It's been since Everquest 2 since I've played a MMORPG and for a good reason, they are addicting.  It has been a ton of fun swinging a light saber around and blasting things as a bounty hunter.

I'll let this run it's course for a little bit then I'll get back to the brush.  My Dark Eldar are chopping each other up waiting for some paint.

Off to London: Chicago Bears!

I'm just finishing up packing my bags for a 5 day weekend in London.  Being a huge Chicago Bears fan, how could I pass up getting to see my favorite team play in Europe?  I have a flight out tomorrow morning and will be staying through Tuesday morning.  We're going to try and hit up Paris on Saturday (I've never been to France).  I'm traveling with 5 football fans, one of them being a dual US/British citizen so he'll give us a full tour of the pub scene.  Unfortunately none of them are wargame fans, so I don't think I'll have any time to catch up on any miniatures. 

If any of you happen to be going to the game, let me know! 

After I get back I head straight to Toronto for work, spend some time back home and then fly the first week of November to Vancouver.  I'm getting a lot of miles up to Canada for work lately.  I'm hoping that starting mid-November I'll get some more time at home so I can accelerate my Dark Eldar. 

I can't wait for some beer and curry fries (I think that's the stuff I got hooked on last time I was there). mmm... beer!

The Flood: Hobby on Hold

Well, this weekend didn't go as planned.  "Acts of God" tend not too.  Chicago got a record amount of rain for a short period of time.  Just east of my house got over 7 inches in a matter of a couple of hours.  Well, all my backup pumps and generator couldn't do squat with the storm drains not having any room.  Hence a major flood in my basement.

I spent the weekend tearing up everything and more work to come.  At least things are dry.  Unfortunately among other things, this means my hobby is on hold as all my free time is going into remodeling the basement. 

Between now and the end of August, I do need to prep for Nova.  I will get my two tanks, infantry models and a few test games.  Really sucks that I won't get to put more time in.  Lucky for me my travel schedule should be pretty light for August for work.  I only have a day trip to Toronto on Wednesday for this week.

Italy: Less then 2 Weeks!

I have to say, I'm really getting excited about a vacation.  In less then 2 weeks, the wife and I will be in Rome.  We also booked stops in Florence and Venice.  With the craziness of Adepticon and the flurry of hobby activity after, I really haven't given myself much time to recharge. 

Part of what is making me so excited is all the historical sites.  I'm not Catholic (my wife is), but one of the things I'm most excited about seeing is the Vatican.  Since my Dark Eldar Wyches are in full swing, I hope to get some inspiration from the Coliseum.  For any of you reading from Europe, I'd love to get some ideas on things to see that are off the beaten path. 

This week will keep me busy with things around the house, I'm going to assemble the glass display cases I picked up from Ikea, and I need to finish unpacking all the extra boxes in the basement.  My goal is to get a skin tutorial in before I leave and do a little more assembling of the raiders.  I really hope the venom gets released this summer as rumored, it'll save me some time going into detail with a conversion.

Ork skin care products?

I was out doing a little shopping with the wife and we drove through a parking lot of the local strip mall.  My wife started laughing and pointed to the sign. Although she has no intentions of ever coming to the dark side of her hobby, she at least picks up on the humor.

I'll be traveling to Toronto and Minneapolis this week so I won't be able to get any painting in until the weekend.  I'm going crazy with all the cool options the Dark Eldar have.  I think it's going to come down to playing a bunch of games to see how they all work together.
