Well, today is my first day of officially NOT being the apartment manager!!! WOO HOO! This is so awesome. I still have alot of office stuff to catch up on to give to Laura, but as far as dealing with immediate problems.......well they aren't my problem anymore!!! yaya!

Lana turns 2 in about a week. I need to figure out what the devil to do for her birthday party. I haven't really thought about it a whole lot since I have been so ridiculously overwhelmed lately....but now....the weight has lifted. I think I am going to have it be a dress-up theme since Lana LOVES to dress up. I'll be getting her some princess things but I really object to clothes with characters on them...so I'll be buying none of that. She is, however, obsessed with princesses. She stood in her play pen for like and hour, pretending that a blanket was her princess dress.

So polite!

Picture is from 2 summers ago in Wyoming. (Dad, Laura, Lana, and me.)

Daniel was getting ready for a trip. He was packing his suitcase, most inconvienietly, in the doorway of the office. Lana really wanted to get through to her room. So, she said, ever so politely, "scuse me?" (translation- Excuse me?) So cute! We haven't ever even heard her say that and I know I haven't ever told her to say it. What a polite little girl.

Lana's first "joke" :)

I had just changed Lana's diaper on the floor in her room. Lana was up and about exploring and I sat watching her. She picked up a book and looked at me with a really silly face. She held it on top of her head and said, "HAT!"....and then she giggled. She continued to do this with anything else she could find in the room. When she would laugh afterward it was almost like she was saying, "HAHA get it Mom!!??? It's not really a hat! HAHA" It's so funny to watch her figure things out!

oh boy....here we go....

This morning, as usual, I heard Lana crying to get out of her crib. I went in to get her and, as usual, she said, "I ge-out?!" (translation: I get out?). Then, NOT as usual, as soon as I picked her up she started tugging at her pajamas while repeating, "off, off". She then revealed to me the power struggle to come when she said, "A dress? A dress?"

Oh, boy....or should I say...oh, what a girl!! She has been showing her preference to wear dresses for a couple of weeks now but never so strongly as this morning. Apparently, I would only wear dresses when I was little.....so I guess she is following in my footsteps.

I put her in a dress, as she requested. But, much to her dismay it was not the dress she wanted. Since I had already dressed her fully, I was not going to change her again. She proceeded to cry and run from laundry basket to laundry basket, pulling out every dress she could find and trying (unsuccessfully) to get me to put them on her.

I know I need to pick my battles but,I have said from the beginning that once she started to care what she wore, I was not going to let her have FULL reign over what she wears. So, I think I will start to pick out 2 outfits a day and let her choose which one. Then, when she gets older, I will give her 3 days a week that she can choose. Any other suggestions? I'm fighting a losing battle, hu?
