PUTTING IT TOGETHER. . . Need suggestions for tool storage

WHEW! It took me a while to follow the "simple directions" and get this new vacuum put together. It may be a little hard to push around, but wow does this thing have suction!!! I think I'm going to like it. It is a 'sealed' system and I know I'm liking that part!

Pieces and the extra *stuff*
Now to figure out how to store all the odd bits and extra pieces. The only on-board tools are a little brush and the crevice tool. Everything else is going to need an easy storage place. I'm thinking maybe make a bag of some sort that can hold all the extras and then be hung on the back of a door or maybe in the garage. Perhaps making it out of mesh, or partly mesh, so the contents would be more visable, would be a good idea.  It wouldn't be too useful if I forget what is in this bag. lol.
How does everyone else handle this? Anyone have any nifty ideas on how to store all this stuff?? Thanks for any help you can offer.

ATaDah! It's together!
Until next time, guess I'll go clean house. Afterall, I do have a new vacuum to break in. lol. Up next are some hooky projects; knitting for Wounded Warriors; and, Orchids blooming.  What are YOU up to this week??

Thank you so much for stopping in to visit!

SEWING ROOM RE-DO and Moebius progress

The sewing room re-do is finally under way! Yippee. The trundle twin bed set has been donated to someone who needs two beds. Removing those beds opened up a ton of room in here! Love it. Shelves to go up soon, but it's a start.

View from doorway
The "board" leaning up against the back of my sewing machine cabinet needs mounting on its hinges. I'm saving that task for one of the guys in the family. *g*. It will be wonderful to use this flip up space when I am FMQ a large quilt.

Moebius cowl in process - knitting
Some progress has been made on the Moebius scarf/cowl. It is about 1/2 complete. Can you see the needles in the pic above? These are from KnitPicks and come with different length cables. I really like how they feel in my hands and especially the fine tips -- so helpful when working with fingering weight yarn. Oh the yarn in from KP also: 100% Merino wool. So so soft!  The really fun part that I am looking forward to is the I-Cord bind-off. I love the way it looks and it is fun to do.

That's all for today. Sew, until next time. . . I am off to the Road2California Quilt Show to learn more about EQ7 and PPing. What are YOU up to?

DJ TRIANGLE & BIG SCORE at Michael's!

Saturday night I scored big-time at Michael's! Bought a Shelving Cube unit and some Sizzix dies. The big score? They were all 50 percent off, PLUS I had another coupon that gave an additional 20% discount off my TOTAL purchase! WOWZER! How great is that?! I'm happy.
Shelf Cube by Recollections, from Michael's
Today me and a phillips screwdriver put the little shelving cubby  together. Everything fit together really well and all the screw holes lined up! Excellent. *big grin*.

The new cubby now sits to the left of my laptop, on the desk and under the printer. Eventually all my printer related stuff will be in it instead of stacked in a bookcase somewhere across the room.

I'm thinking of making a "tray" for one of the shelves so storing odd bits of paper won't look so messy. Still thinking about it.

Only managed to sew up one DJ block this week: triangle RS-4. This was a fun one to make. It was super easy to PP in just two sections.
I chose a fabric that reads like a stripe and had fun turning it every-which-way-but-loose. I like how it turned out. It was fun to play for a change, and not be so serious.

Until next time. . . I'm not doing anything else tonight but holding and pampering my kitty. Right now Missy is in my lap just purring up a storm.

What are YOU up to?

PORTABLE SEWING KIT -- A Very Clever Idea!

What does an Elizabeth Arden eyeglass case and sewing/quilting have in common?

How about a nifty, tidy, handy-dandy, portable sewing kit?! I like it. Works better than my old "breathmint case" because it holds larger scissors. Love it. Thank you, Linda Franz of Inklingo fame, for your wonderful and original idea!

Until next time. . . let's go stitch something!

SOME FINISHES! A Spider, Pillowcases, Receiving Blankets & some organizing. . .

Ta Dah! Finally, a finish -- the little Spider quilt, which I have named: "Itsy Bitsy Spider" [after the childrens' song]. It gave me the shivers, but I put a spider drawing on the label... couldn't resist. And added a Spider Plant, too, just for fun.

Thank you everyone for your input. I agree with your good advice and put a red binding on it. I like it. I am thinking about embroidering a couple of little black spiders in the upper left & lower right hand corners. What do you think? Would that be too creepy?

[note: the quilt is straight, but my photograph is a bit wonky! I need more practice, or maybe a class!!]
Sorry it's been almost two weeks since I posted, but I have been mostly off the puter these last two weeks. First, I had some lovely company from out of town [out of the Country, actually]. Did a little reorganizing and refurbishing around the house, and even been working on cleaning out the garage! Wow.

Have completed a number of small projects. The first one [below] is a reversible receiving blanket for my soon-2-b-born great-granddaughter Nailay [means 'I love you' in Native American]. The blanket takes TWO, one-yard-pieces of flannel. The process: trim up the sides; sew together all around leaving about 12 inches open to turn; turn; slip stitch opening, and voila! A blankie. Oh, I did sandwich 1.5" of cotton eyelet lace in the seam and used a saucer to round the corners... this makes up pretty fast.

Making pillowcases is so much fun. Talk about almost instant gratification! lol. Below is a case made from material depicting the famous Route 66 highway that runs mostly East to West across a lot of the USA. I made this for my DD Laura to commemorate our drive on Rte 66 a year ago last May. She is stoked! I tried something different this time: after turning the "tube" [which encloses all the seams in the hem] I topstitched the flange. Then I finished it off as usual. Hopefully this little trick will make it all behave better in the laundry ... we'll see. ;-)

Below is a very fuzzy picture--sorry-- but you can make out some of the attractions that are along Route 66.

Below shows my beginning efforts to put up new shelves. I hope to eventually get everything sorted into nice looking baskets and have those sitting on these shelves. As you can see, I need to shop for and install a couple more shelves. lol. The top shelf, although not especially pretty looking, is organzied and done... the other one needs a lot of work yet! lol

That's all for now. Thank you so much for stopping by to visit!  I hope where ever you are, that you have time to make something that makes you or someone you love happy!

Hugs,
