Warbands League's first season ended (rather abruptly)

The End by nomeacuerdo - En modo chnacho zombie (cc)

Here is the official statement from the organisers. For you Greek challenged out there it is pretty much saying the following.  This was just a trial phase and it just ended. For the record, Φαμπουλόζοι (that's my team) won. Apparently I was the player with the most points in the tournament or so I have been told. That's not too hard to imagine though if you consider that I had three conceded games in my favour. Talk about some luck there! Anyway, the League is now going to enter it's next season which is now going to be official.

As I said, that was kinda abrupt. At the beginning, we had arranged to play ten games divided between two periods and that would be the whole season. However we managed to play only five. From what I understand, this happened because a few of the teams unofficially quit the league, i.e. didn't bother playing their games or handing in their results. The organisers gathered a lot of experience from that first trial phase so now things can be run more smoothly.

Warbands League Round 4

It's been 3 weeks already since my last Warband League game. Boy, time does go fast! Me and Leonidas was up to the task but unfortunately Stefanos couldn't play on Sunday since he was working. Furthermore none of the substitutes was available for one reason or the other. This meant that we had to concede two of the games and that would put us 8 points behind before we even start playing any games. So the least we could do to emerge victorious would be to draw once and win three games. That would give us 10 points and 9 points to the opposing team. Not an easy task but certainly not impossible.

Furthermore the FLGS we were supposed to play was having a MtG tournament at the same day. This meant that there was no available space for any other games. Since it is one of the very few gaming stores that cater for Warhammer players (with at least 2 gaming boards suitable for 40K) open on a Sunday we really had a hard time trying to find an alternative place. Fortunately, the excellent people from the Dragon Phoenix Inn let us play over there. The place is not too far away from my home either, so all the better.

Warbands League Round 3

warhammer battle
Having missed the previous round due to my health's poor condition at that time, I was really looking forward playing a league game again. Six sweaty gamers packed tightly inside a small room for eight hours is just irresistible! Plus, all of our opponents were using orks so this would be very interesting.

It was also the time for the trimonthly meeting with the Imperial Seals guys. Around ten of us met at a very decadent cafe in the city center. We had a few quality hours bickering about the feasibility of the Imperial socioeconomic infrastructure. Fun times! Meeting went very well and we totally geeked out and had a great time. We will probably run a tournament with alternative scenarios in the future but that is a different story.

Warbands League Round 1

After months of planning and countless discussions about tactics and army listing, the day of battle was finally upon us. We were playing in our home turf that is the Fantasy Shop store in the city center. I still can't believe I woke up at 10am on a Sunday to go play Warhammer. I guess it shows my dedication to (or obsession with) the hobby.
