I cannot seem to get enough of these abstracts with storm clouds against the bright yellow green marsh. I may be addicted!

LAKE HOUSE, 8X10, OIL, SOLD
We were on Nantahala Lake when we spied this little lake house. The houses around this lake are either million dollar mansions or these little floating deck houses. The owners of the little houses are seem to enjoy theirselves, surrounded with all their toys. The houses are anchored to the trees. Some are double deckers with slides into the water and elaborate decks. This one was just big enough for two.

MORNING SURF, 5X7, OIL, SOLD
It seems I cannot go too long before I get the urge to paint the ocean again. This is an early morning scene of the surf in central coastal Florida.

MARINA PUP, 5X7, OIL, SOLD
We found this cute little guy at the marina while renting a pontoon boat this summer. He was shaved for the summer but still had his fluffy tail. He spent the days guarding the docks. Here he was checking out a boat coming in that had a dog standing on the bow. They were patiently waiting to get together for a little sniffing time.

PEARS, 6X8 OIL,SOLD
When we had an artist's retreat last month, on a drizzly evening, we set up these beautiful pears and painted to our hearts delight. It felt really, really good!

DA BEAR, 5X7, OIL
We spent a few days cruising Fontana Lake in a pontoon boat this summer. The lake is great, with clean refreshing cool water surrounded by beautiful untouched forest. It is in the mountains of western North Carolina. One day we were anchored off shore about 50 feet, enjoying a swim when this guy entered the scene. I think he was fishing for lunch. It was very thrilling (and a little scary) to be so close to this beautiful wildlife.

WATERROCK KNOB FALL VISTA, 6X8, OIL, ABSTRACT, SOLD
Another fall view of Waterock Knob off the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is the time to be there with the trees in full color everywhere. If you have never seen full fall color, take time out of your life and make it happen. It is worth the effort! Here is Florida, what passes for "fall color" is a joke. It is such soft color and so little of it that you hardly notice it. After 30 years in Florida, I miss the Ohio autumns of my youth.

BLUE RIDGE AUTUMN 5X7, OIL,SOLD
This one was fun to do, kind of abstract. I liked the colors, so decided to do more in the same style. I will post the other two soon. I actually created this one out of my head. When I first took painting lessons, it was all about "seeing" and painting what you "see" not what you know. Then I took a month long class from an artist who does abstract and it was all about getting it out of your head. This is half and half. I didn't paint from a photo, but, I feel like I have seen this before.

CAROLINA STORM, 8X10, ABSTRACT, CA SCHIFF, OIL, SOLD
This is my largest abstract to date. I really love the feeling I get when I do them and because of them I feel much stronger in my impressionistic paintings. I feel it is a win/win situation for me. Someday I may branch out and do an abstract still life, but for the moment, I am enjoying the landscapes.

ANOTHER POPPYFIELD, 5X7, OIL,SOLD
Every once in a while I just have to do a red/green combo. I think poppies are probably my favorite flower, especially in the wild. They just knock your eyes out! This one is about 1/2 abstract and 1/2 impressionistic. I no longer know what I am doing, or maybe never did...but I am enjoying it more!
