Decor as Metaphor

There is a point during the decorating process that the display has the potential to take on a transcendence beyond the typical flight of style of taste. The soulful piece becomes infused by way of talent, skill, heart and imagination. When this milestone approaches within each project, it becomes more easily recognizable as a possibility impelling me on with excitement and renewed fervor toward a completion. Many years of honing skills, finding the right balance of adornment and craft creates an understanding of the power of good design but also the power of truly artful design.
Generally this point comes well into the decor process. All materials have been gathered. (with the exception of those still remaining as organically inspired along the way) A general outline of the space to decorated is determined. A general theme/point/ purpose/statement has been decided upon.

and a Swoon Worthy Award goes to. . .

I thought this little sewing machine was so great and the little drawered cabinet ok- but what could the drawers hold with all the mechanics of the sewing machine underneath? I decided to investigate and look! How cute is that!?!?! Comes complete with it's own little chair for the comfort and satisfaction of the seamstress...what a sweet (sewing) notion.

Of course the "Jetco" (makes you think Jetsons doesn't it.) radio doesn't work. I lifted the table top/lid (unattached for some reason- seriously, it was) and the dust inside suggested that the radio didn't work- and probably hadn't for some time although a plug and cord were intact and in very good condition. And, ya never know ?? I should've plugged it in anyway cuz I like to live on the edge.

Hello Sunshine

Have you ever gotten a message from someone you've not seen in years? This just happened to me. My cousin Bellesia (Lisa) originally from Arkansas connected with me via email the other night. Imagine my surprise- it's been over 30 years since we've seen each other. She has a lovely family of her own now - and a grandchild- o yum!
Aside from visiting one of my favorite memories of our get togethers was the food, always a big part of southern gatherings. Let me tell you Aunt Wanda made the best Buttermilk Bisquits EVER!! Every other bisquit is just a pretender. But, I can dream can't I?

Look what Ty and Amanda created

Is this good design or what?

This picture was coincidentally taken on the anniversary of my dad's death.
I can see so much of my dad in his little face, the bright eyes filled with
love, that was dad. Gabe is the sweetest and happiest little guy.

when you embrace life everything follows

I have a little story.
A beautiful box came my way. I'm doing the dishes and look outside my window and there's this little box ". . . hum, what could that be? Could it be a birthday present? Nahhhh, that's not it..humm. Well, I brought it in immediately seeing it was from my kind and sweet & oh so talented Tonia. How cool is that, I mean seriously. My heart began to beat a just a little faster. Out slid the little folded paper with the sweetest little love note.

And then. I opened the box.

And then there was another- but this one was a purple stunner. ..hum???
Have you ever gotten goosebumps when opening a box? It's a most pleasant sensation and highly recommended.

". . . why, this is peculiar." I had just been thinking about Paris and then, all of a sudden I'm reading something from Paris with instructions on how to consume the lovely treats - from - get this- Paris!
"....hummmm that's funny?"

but "consume"? Never.

Well, ok, maybe just one. I swoon but wait- there's more. I could cry, the beauty of the timing and everything else.

Naughty naughty and oh so nice YOU are. Bless my soul? You sure did.
Sweet Love & Paris. What a fit.
