It's been a while......

When it rains it pours! I have been working on so many projects that I am not painting on my own work as often as I would like. Lots of commissions lately.  My print business has been really taking off and I find myself needing a larger space but I so love working from home.  My mother (soon to be 92)  has been moved to Kennebunk Maine to be closer to my three older sisters as she  has been declining both mentally and physically. I try to see her once a week .   At the same time,  Sam has been going through another rough patch but is starting to get better.    I am so grateful for that.

This new painting was inspired by a family  I came across on Instagram.    The mom  posts such wonderful everyday  scenes of life with 6 children! I am from a family of  seven BTW.  I was totally inspired by their amazing old world shabby chic home. in England.   This piece "Family Portrait" is 20x16 painted on a cradled wood panel with painted sides.  It would make a great mother's day gift.
Thanks for looking and have a nice day today.

Art and Quote of the day...........

“To see far is one thing, going there is another.” ~Constantin Brancusi
I am continuing to work on a rather large piece this week.  I will most likely post another image of my progress at the end of the day today.  This was a favorite painting I did last year around this time.  Thanks for stopping by.  Catherine

Gabriella's Table (gets a makeover)

You may remember this painting looking a bit different a few months back.  Occasionally I end up reworking a painting and this just happens to be one of them.  I am much happier with this version.  I consider it a "make- over."  The dimensions are 18x24 painted on stretched canvas.  Thanks for looking.

Be the first to the field and the last to the couch. Chinese proverb

I plan on doing another chinoiserie style piece in the weeks to come.  This is a painting I did in October of last year. However, since it's the weekend, I wish the opposite of this quote! Catherine

Story Of A Flower II

This is another variation of a painting I did a while back.  I wanted to mix my love of Middle Eastern and  Asian design within the flower.  This painting is 11x14 painted on stretched cotton and linen.  The sides have been painted so no frame is needed.  For sale in my Etsy shop

Chinoiserie Bouquet

This is one of two new paintings I've been working on. Ever since returning from my show in NYC I have been caught up with surface texture and depth of color. I've been doing a lot of experimenting which is why I haven't posted anything new until now. I am very excited about my next series of paintings. I feel as though I am reaching a new stage in my work! As long as the doors keep opening~ I am gratefully walking through them! Chinoiserie Bouquet is 8x10 painted on stretched cotton and linen and will be for sale in my Etsy shop.

October 2nd and 3 rd I will be showing my work in beautiful Pound Ridge New York, (Westchester County) at the "Pound Ridge Fine Art and Craft Show."
