Garden Bouquet

I am very excited about my new painting.  I was very much inspired by the Dutch painter of the late 1500’s  Ambrosius Bosschaert.  Absolutely breath taking still lifes.   I don’t usually do traditional compositions but I really enjoyed painting this vase with flowers.  I may do a few more.  This painting is 11x14 painted on stretched canvas.   The sides have been painted so no frame is needed.

Letting Go

In between my more serious and epic paintings I enjoy throwing in a whimsical, care free piece here and there. It gives me a chance to experiment with color, pattern and texture plus I saw a Matisse painting (not in person) this morning that put me over the edge. I just love peonies and every year I say I am going to buy some to plant in my garden but I am always too busy painting and forget. This little number is 9x12 and done on stretched textured linen. The sides have been painted so no frame is needed. For sale in my Etsy shop. Stop by on Saturday, July 24th to see this painting and the rest of my new work at MANCHESTER BY THE SEA ART FESTIVAL. It's going to be really hot~both the show and the weather!

Dreaming Of Italy

This is a new painting I just finished today. It contains so many things I love, peonies, the Italian coast, orange and green, patron saints, birds, patterns and colors. I seem to be getting a lot of mileage out of the family trip to Sicily we took back in November of 09. I never once opened my sketch book there, but my jaw was dropped most of the time. A bit overwhelming i suppose. Anyway, this painting is 11x14 done on gallery wrapped cotton and linen. It will be for sale in my Etsy shop after I email a few customers who have been inquiring about this new painting. (Exciting position to be in !)
Don't forget to leave a comment and be entered into my Giveaway for June. Hope you are having a good Monday.

One more thing. this photo does not do justice to this painting I am afraid. I labor over taking photos of my work trying to take the most accurate shot possible but today was a little too cloudy and gray and I was to anxious to wait.

This is my latest painting. 8x10 on stretched canvas
Peonies are one of my favorite flowers even though I don't have any planted in my garden. Maybe next year.

Positive Energy

I have been interested in tackling a more abstract type painting involving flowers. This year our garden is really beautiful and I love being able to cut fresh flowers for my table. Looking closely at a flower I am amazed by the design. The complexity, the symmetry not to mention the COLOR! This piece is 16x20 done on stretched canvas with painted sides. No frame is necessary. First in a series of abstract florals.
