Adding to the Library (5) ...

Soldiers & Weapons Polish-Ottoman war books...

Nice books, the main text is in Italian (which I can just about read, with help from online translate tools)  The colour plates are nicely done and cover the troops types - the text for these is in Italian and English.

Adding to the Library (2) ...

Another superb addition to the library - Vol2 of Von Essen's Charles X wars

so far just dipped in but will get stuck in to it once I've finished reading  'Return of the king'': the restoration of Charles II' by Charles FitzRoy.

With all Vol 1 and the now Vol 2, getting more interested in the eastern wars - perhaps build a Cossack-Tatar army ? Doh ! Then perhaps an army for Muscovy as well.... 😜

Adding to the Library ...

I've been adding to  my library of suitable reference material, scenarios and rules ... I had the ECW siege scenario booklet and I got the other ones; lots of scenario ideas for planning future games.

A while back I obtained the Fire & Sword rule book and other publications..

very handy reference background material and information on army compositions. The rule book is handy, but my own rules seem to cover everything, so I'll stay with mine.

Also I've been perusing ...

a great read, lots of info on armies of the The Deluge and some nice illustrations.

Looking eastward ...

I've been getting interested in things more eastward from my two imaginary nations. The wars between the Austrians, Polish and Ottomans. I have the Osprey Polish books, I recently got some books by Bruno Mugnai on the Ottomans

lots of great illustrations, text in Italian but has english translations for the uniform plates.   It may take some time before something materialises .....(if at all...);  maybe I'll use some figures from the Irregular Miniatures 42mm Renaissance range.

Great Book - European Weapons & Warfare by Eduard Wagner.

Received as one of my Xmas presents, a book well worth adding to your library,
Although nominally for the TYW period in europe the bulk of the content is relevant for the ECW as well. It comprises ~290 pages full of illustrations covering cavalry, infantry, artillery, supply train, camps, river crossings, fortifications etc.

I have the one published by Partizan Press, available from Caliver Books; Warlord Games also publish it, see their Pike and Shotte books section.  These are both paperback reprints, the original hardcover can be obtained but is a tad expensive.
