Ten Minute Wednesday

Hello! :) I hope you're all having a great day! Since there aren't going to be any new Fall-to Layout sketches until after the new year, I thought I'd pop in with a 10 minute card I created. It's hard to believe that Christmas has come and gone and that it's already time to ring in the new year! Where did 2009 go??

Instructions:

• Create a 4 1/4" square card base using red CS.
• Stamp a row of polka dots in white ink, and adhere a piece of pink grosgrain ribbon on top of the strip of dots.
• Stamp the sentiment repeatedly on a piece of white CS, making sure to leave room for rhinestone accents.
• Stamp a background pattern onto fuchsia CS, as well as a pink heart image onto white CS, and use heart punches to punch them out.
• Adhere the sentiment strip on top of the pink ribbon, attach the hearts with pop dots and embellish with rhinestones.

Blast from the past (kind of)

Today's sketch is based on a holiday card I posted last year. I never made a sketch from it, but thought it would work out nicely for this week's sketch. On a side note, there will be no sketch after today until mid January. With Christmas, New Year's, and my holidays in January I will not be around as much. Here's my card. FTL72 - Thanks, Chickie!

Hi everyone! Today's card was creating using the Fall-to Layout Sketch posted last Friday by Natasha. My sample is definitely on the simple side, but I really like the way it turned out... Sometimes I think using a bunch of patterns together can make a design look a little on the busy side, but these patterns together almost seem delicate to me. LOL, as usual, I went back and forth about a million times trying to figure out what cardstock color I should use as my card base, and finally settled on using acetate. I also embossed the background with dots to help it stand out a bit. It is a good thing that Chanukah is 8 days - I still have time to get my cards out! I used FTL72 to make this Chanukah card. I used the "pond ripples" from PTI Pond Life to make it look like the dreidels were spinning. The sentiment is from PTI Mazel Tov. Good evening! Here's today's sketch. Time to use more of that patterned paper I figured I'd use some papers from a kit, since I knew they'd coordinate nicely. I added a few extra embellishments to my finished card. Sometimes you just need to add a little something else! Happy Friday everyone! Here's today's sketch. A few tips for you- #1- you don't have to make the focal image an ornament, the idea was basically to have something hanging from the bow or knot. #2- if you don't have a larger scalloped edge punch, consider using a smaller one, or consider using a few circles to make your fancy edge! Hello! I hope all my American readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving and are enjoying all the shopping deals today. Here's this week's sketch. I decided to have some fun designing with the images from Stampin' Up!'s Digital Studio. I suppose I could have actually turned this into a fully digital card instead of just a sketch, but I figured I'd bring it to life with paper and stamps. So here's my take on the sketch. I figured having a one layer card as the sketch was a bit overdue. On one layer cards the image placement is crucial, so hopefully this sketch gives you a decent starting point! If you find your final result too plain, consider adding some embellishments, like glitter, pearls, rhinestones or buttons!

I decided to make use of a recent acquisition. I went down to the States for Remembrance Day to do a bit of shopping. Punches are ridiculously marked up here, so I picked up a few for cheap! One was this adorable cupcake punch. I paired it with some of the Loves Me paper (which always reminds me of cupcakes) and some of the coordinating ribbon.

Ten Minute Monday on Tuesday

I made several cards for the SCS color challenge and used the CPS141 sketch for most of the cards. The colors for the challenge were Burgundy, Vanilla and Kraft. Then I started using the colors and making more quick one layer cards or minimal layers that all took 10 minutes or less. I thought I'd share them with you. These first few use CPS141. Fall-to Layout #67

Happy Friday! I've made two samples for this week's sketch. Because I've done similar layouts before, I have a few suggestions for this one. Keep the circular focal image part as a circle. Secondly, add some sort of embellishment on either side of the focal image. Lastly, keep the sentiment bottom center. Feel free to stamp it directly on your card or add a tag if your patterned paper is too busy or dark. When I saw the rectangular panel in Natasha's sketch I immediately thought of the house from PTI's Boards and Beams and the Holiday Addition set. I also just got some new Cuttlebug Border embossing folders that I thought I'd use instead of patterned paper. My sentiment is a little high for this sketch but I think it works okay. I cut out the image with my long rectangle Nestabilities and attached it to the card with SU! Dimensionals. Happy Halloween Eve! One would think I'd have a Halloween card with the sketch tonight, but I don't. It's extra windy and chilly here tonight, so a wintery card seems more appropriate. Not that I really want it to snow (again) just yet, but the weather certainly feels that way!

FTL65 - Thank You

Hi everyone! Hope you've been having a great day. :) This is the card I created using the Fall-to Layout 65 Sketch posted last Friday.

I started with a Melon Berry base and stamped it with one of the Giga Guidelines images in white ink. Next, I cut out a 1 1/2 x 4 1/4" strip of white card stock and layered it onto two strips of brown card stock that had been punched with my Fiskars Upper Crest Punch. To finish up, I added some ribbon around the white strip, attached it to the card base, punched and layered the sentiment, then added stickles. Whew, that was wordy. :)

Snowy Greetings

Here's my card for this week's sketch! I used the adorable penguin from It's a Snow Day as my sentiment embellishment shown in the sketch. My background was made by running shimmery blue paper through the Wizard with Impressabilities Snowflake background. I finished off the card with a scalloped border and a bit of stickles on the penguin's hat and scarf.

This is a great sketch to use up scraps!! The flower was made from a Sizzlet die and held together with a pearl brad. It was made for a color challenge that Dawn McVey had but never got used. 10 Minute Monday on Tuesday

I created this card for the SCS color challenge today and for a class assignment in the Great Card Design Class that I am taking online with Julie Ebersole. I had saved the negative cut from my Cuttlebug Buttrfly die cut so I used that as a mask. I sponged on Taken with Teal and Apricot Appeal and then stamped the silhouettes with Chocolate Chip. The sentiment is from Verve's Abundant Blessings as is the cattail silhouette. The dragonfly is from PaperTrey's Pond Life. Supplies: Stamps - PaperTrey, Verve; Ink - SU! Today's sketch was inspired by a card I made over a year ago. It somehow resurfaced earlier this week, and I thought "hmm, I like that design". I know the card was made for a Kristina Werner Colour Challenge, I don't recall if I ever posted it to this blog.

Here's my card: Very basic! Feel free to use more of that hoarded designer paper or to stamp out your own pattern! If you happen to use this stamp set, remember it's usually easier to stamp the solid image first and go over top with the detailed outline! I was reminded of that as I pieced together a few more of this card design the other night!
