bass 7x5

A student brought this in for me to paint today. People kept asking me if it was real for some reason. Every body seemed to be more comfortable when I told them it was fake. Strange.

trout 7x5

This is the first time I've painted a fish (I did paint a can of sardines a couple of years ago but I'm not counting that). My mom gave me this trout a couple of days ago and it was great fun. I love the reflective quality of the scales. It was a real kick to paint. I'm going to have to talk my students who fish into bringing in part of their spoils for me to explore further.

spicy tuna 7x5.5

I went out to Tokyo Sushi with my son this evening. We had a fine meal and I showed my other sushi paintings to the owner. She really liked them.

sushi #3 7x5.5

This is saba (mackerel). It's one of my favorites. I picked this up from Tokyo Sushi in Folsom. It's a great sushi bar, one of Folsom's best kept secrets.

My wife treated me to sushi this evening and I saved some for painting this evening.
