Ian 10x8

I like doing portraits but I need lots of practice! All in all I'm pretty happy with this one. I'm trying hard to not overwork these.

Logan #3 10x8

I think I've mentioned before that Logan is one of my favorite models. He takes it very seriously and stays very still without complaint. I think his face has a lot of gravity for a young guy.

Alex 10x8

Alex didn't go to San Francisco and he just has this old hat. It suits him though.

Kevin's new hat 10x8

We took a bunch of students on a field trip to San Francisco the other day. Kevin bought a new hat in China Town.

Kyle 9x7

Kyle has been after me to paint a picture of him for a couple of months now. We were finally able to get our schedules to mesh. He like it. He said he was trying to look as if he were gazing toward the future when he will be a wealthy man.

Annie 9x7

I got a bit tight on this one. I'm not too happy with it. I felt stiff. Annie was very patient with me.

Marrissa 9x7

There's not enough time to paint all the things I'm interested in. These student portraits are always fun to do and I don't use as much gas as I do when I go out to do a landscape.

Ronnie 9x7

I did this one before lunch in class. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I'm getting more comfortable with this limited palette.

Richie 9x7

This was a fun one. Richie has a great face and he was fun to talk to while I was painting. I used the Zorn Palette again for this one. I'm getting a bit more comfortable with it. I like the cool reflected light on the shadow side of his face. Even though it's black mixed with white it reads as blue because of the warmer tones on the lit side of his face.

Tony 5.5x7

I like the pose in this one. There's not a lot of different things you can do with mug shots like these but Tony did a great job of coming up with something a little bit different. I also like the colors in his shirt.
