An inorganic compound is a chemical compound that does not have carbon in it. There are a few exceptions, though. Cyanides, carbonates, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide are all considered inorganic compounds. Some inorganic compounds are ionic and tend to make solid crystals; others are more covalent and make soft easily-melted crystals, liquids, or gases.
