Warhammer 40K: Venerable Deradnought, Asmodai, Anrakyr and Orikan Completed

Took time during the holidays yesterday to finish of the models.

Venerable Dreadnought

Just some minor touch up on some parts that could use some paint. When you cannot think of anything else to paint, you are basically done with it. That is the case with the dreadnought.

Asmodai

The pain with Asmodai is his Blade of Reason which was very hard to pin since the groove was not deep enough. It took me several tries and prayers for me to to screw it up. I will be adding some minor touch up later on the black parts since I was working on all my models since morning.
Asmodai Masterclass

Anrakyr the Traveller

On the surface, Anrakyr was looks easy to paint. Somehow, the illumination effect comes out wrong. I will probably revisit this unit to see if I can improve it, especially his warscythe.
Masterclass Edition. A long way more to go

Orikan the Diviner

Compared to Anrakyr, Orikan came out well. Instead of drybrushing, which I did on Anrakyr, I used more layering technique to create the illumination on the green and blue parts. A surprising result I should say. Still alot more room to improve anyway.

Masterclass edition
While drybrushing is a cool technique, it seems that I need to start picking up on blending technique as the masterclass models seem to use that on their metal and illuminated parts. Back to class then.

Warhammer 40K: Asmodai, Anrakyr & Venerable Dreadnought

While completing the the Dark Vengeance set, I picked up some additional minis which captured my attention. They basically fit the armies which I intend to collect: Dark Angels- Deathwing Company more specifically, Tau - Farsight Campaign, Necron and Tyranids.

I am currently planning a workup on my Deathwing Squad before moving to the other factions. However, some unique character HQs could be fun to pick up prior to me starting those individual factions.

Here's what I got:

Asmodai, Interrogator-Chaplain of the Dark Angels
He is a Dark Angel HQ. 'Nuff said!

Learning from previous jobs, I am tacking the units with blue tacks (or white in this case) to allow me to paint better those hard to reach places.

Anrakyr the Traveller - Necrons

His Warscythe was a pain to join but I got it glued correctly somehow (I think). Although he was my initial HQ of choice, I have decided instead on either Imotekh the Stormlord or Trazyn the Infinite instead after checking their abilities in detail. Nevertheless, he was the only named HQ available in the shops around here.

Venerable Dreadnought

This unit was not in my initial 750 points and 1500 points listing which I had planned. I got this guy since I am looking for something different to work on, and Tau Crisis suits were not available XD

The right arm weapons were designed such that it can be removed and replaced with other weapon of choice easily. Even the shoulder can still be removed and replace with another shoulder of choice. I have yet to fully determine the final design for this unit. Since the sprue does not come with the full set of optional parts (which means more bits shopping. Bummer!)

By the way, this unit is my first attempt at pinning. The torso is able to swivel around as needed. There were some errors in my method of applying the pin, but somehow, everything turns out well.

Swappable bits from the venerable dreadnought
In the mean time, here is a list of what's to come:
- Robotech Tactics minis
- Fairytale Battle Royale minis
- Another set of Deathwing Termies from the Dark Vengeance box set
- Probably a box of Deathwing Command Squad

I have also got some magnets which I ordered at a discount from miniwargaming.com which I intend to use in my minis in the future. Starting with the Deathwing Command squad box set.
