Bluntness

I've also been told I have little tact, so if this offends you simply ride on.

Okay, who cut the cheese.

Happy Tuesday morning people!  Now that yesterday's sleepfest is over, I'm raring to go!  Lots of shit planned for for today.
My appointment is set up for my 'consultation' regarding the mole.  June 4, is the soonest I can get in.  They are not too concerned about it, so neither am I.  As time goes on it looks less angry.  Still, I will have them remove it just to be on the safe side.
The gent doing my editing is giving me back pages which need correcting.  Holy Shit!  He is finding so many little... flaws.  He doesn't like my use of the word 'and.'  I, like it.  So, we had a bit of a discussion about my 'style,' and how 'and' helps define my 'style,' and how I like how those three letters join subjects, or phrases, or statements together.  Hence, the 'ands' are staying.
And I understand from AM and Bob that the Idiot Jerk put in an appearance at church this past Sunday.  That's what?  Three times since he's been president?  And I'm not counting that time he sat like a grumpy toad at the Bush funeral.  You know, when everyone looked at him as though he'd just cut the cheese?

Perhaps he went to church because he needed to take a break from his hate-filled Twitter storm.  I found the fact that he brought up the 'dossier' again rather telling.  My guess is that something in it must have been verified.  Even more telling was Megan McCain calling him pathetic.  Maybe she doesn't know that in regards to the Idiot Jerk, 'pathetic' is a minor compliment.
Since they're not going to be doing the 'mole' thing until June, I will be doing my Jury Duty on Monday.  The last time I didn't get picked and was only there for one day.  Hopefully the same thing will happen again this time.  This is Civil, not Criminal.  This means someone is suing someone else because they feel they are owed.  At least, that's what I think.

How It Ends

Okay, so I took yesterday off.  Think of it as a recuperation day.  Believe me, it took almost the entire day to recover from a movie I watched on Netflix:  "How it Ends."  I haven't seen anything so horrendous in years.  Theo James and Forest Whitaker head out from Chicago to Seattle to save Theo's pregnant girlfriend / Forest's daughter after something terrible happens.  You never know what has happened.  All communications with the West Coast are down.  The highways are empty going west... except for their car.  You never see survivors or evacuees.  They run into some bad guys.  On this weird road trip they never, ever come across a gas station.  Things go wrong, and in the end, Theo walks to Seattle which which seems to be in ruins... or on fire... or has experienced some sort of cataclysmic upheaval.  No one is around, no bodies, no walking wounded.  Maybe they just decided to cheap it out when it came to hiring extras.

If this is Seattle, then the Olympic Peninsula, and the Bremerton Shipyards, which sits on the other side of Puget Sound has been totally destroyed.
I can say this because I used to live in Tacoma.

This is a movie about something bad happening... you're just never told what "it" is, though evidently this is supposed to be how "it" ends.
John McCain lost his fight with brain cancer.  He survived being a POW, and was one of the few Republicans who told the Idiot Jerk in the White House to sit on it and spin.  However, he is also the failed presidential candidate who unleashed Sarah Palin on the world.  All those White Trash voters who loved her are the ones who helped vote the Idiot Jerk into the White House.
Neil Simon died, too.  I liked his early work.  If you ever get the chance to see "The Odd Couple" live, do so.  It is very, very funny.  He left the funny stuff behind as he tried to prove he was a serious playwright and slowly fell out of favor.
I did build a frame yesterday for my nut husker.  That sucker is mounted and ready to go.  Sometime this AM, after I mow the lawn, you'll be able to find me behind the house husking my nuts.
And how is it going to end for the Idiot Jerk in the White House?  Well, just like in this bad movie, I doubt very much if he's going to understand what happened.  His approval rating sits at around 43% - that's the GOP and those perimeter fools who chose not to vote.  You know who I'm talking about.  The ones who say "well, as long as it doesn't effect me personally, I don't really care."  These are the same people who aren't going to care when he gets removed from office.  These are also the same bunch who will watch "How it Ends" and say, "wow, did you see Seattle in ruins?"  They show absolutely no concern about truth.  When the Idiot Jerk is gone, they will scratch their heads and say "wow, did you see the president got impeached."

Here... it... comes.

So, I guess we're now supposed to get about 12" of snow.  I'm off, so it doesn't bother me.  I suspect a lot of other people will be taking advantage of it and taking a day off.  This is how it goes.
Anyway,  I went to my new Weis this morning.  The aisles are wide, the fresh produce is arranged well and amply supplied, however I wasn't impressed with their frozen food section.  Their prices are comparable with the Giant across the road, with some being higher and some being lower.  There is much wider variety, however, of just about everything.  Giant doesn't give you as much of a selection.  I have to learn where everything is for right now.
And I saw that the Idiot in Chief has muttered something about being open to suggestions in regarding health care... people are pointing out he talks about health care, not insurance.  This whole thing is rather funny.  In fact there is so much funny going on.  Like the fact that those who are going to be hurt most by the repeal of the ACA are Trumplodites.  Of course, if you were to ask them who their primary care physician is the vast majority would look at you quizzically,  and then mutter something like "we go the the Emergency Room when we get sick."

And, of course, those boneheads in the White House have taken a cue from the Idiot himself and are making all sorts of rash promises.  No doubt this is because empty promises are enough to satisfy the Trumplodite hoards.
Oh, and supposedly, according to John McCain, more shoes are going to drop regarding the Russkie influence.  Those crazy Conservatives, how like them to hate the Democrats so much they'd climb in bed with Putin lover.
Anyway, off to work.

Jan Brewer - wreckage

If I were Jan Brewer, I would not be happy.  According many media sources she is poised to veto the hate bill in Arizona.  What kind of message is that sending to her loyal, socially conservative base?  She vetoed a similar measure last year which, I'm sure, did not please them.  These are people who spent their time and money to make sure she was re-elected.  They are expecting results from her, compensation of some sort, for their hard work.  Is she going to give it to them with this bill?  Well, you could say she is going to give it to them, but not they way they want.  The would love her to sign it just so the bill would end up in the court system.  Do you think they care how much such a thing would cost the state of Arizona?  Hell no.  They want to raise their tiny fists in the air and shriek " active courts are ruining this country!  They overturning the laws we love!"  You see, that gives them some justification for their bigotry.  And of course, Jan Brewer is in the middle of this shit storm.

Jan Brewer is a 69 year-old, white conservative.  While she may claim to be pro-business, there is no denying she is your stereotypical aging Republican.  And she is being forced into taking a moderate position.  This must almost be ripping out her heart.  The pressure to veto is coming from the business community (they don't like to see dollars and cents fly out their doors).  They've already lost a Superbowl because the state voted against Martin Luther King Day, and the prospect of losing another because of bigotry is burning their butts.  I suspect there is also a lot of pressure coming down from the GOP hierarchy.  Every time some branch of the far right manages to pull a stunt like this the entire party looks bad, and the party wants to win a presidential election.  "Yo, Jan, do you want to be one of reasons the 2016 presidency goes to the Democrats... again?"

What a wreck

It is a sad statement about her governorship when she allows such a piece of legislation to make it to her desk.  She was not oblivious to what her fellow Republicans were doing in the Arizona state House and Senate.  This was not done in secret, or behind her back.  The backers were putting this together in broad daylight.  They didn't tack it on to some overblown piece of legislation and try to sneak it through,  Nope, they new they were going to make headlines and she evidently approved, or she would have stopped them.  What a piece of wreckage she is, either that or she's a stupid, peroxide blonde.

Fox news silences Palin

As most people now know, Sarah Palin was dumped by Fox.  Wait, let me put that more delicately, her contract was not renewed.  Of course, it doesn't make a difference how it's said, the truth is she was no longer seen as an asset.  I'm sure three years ago when she was hired for her not too brilliant commentary Fox News could not comprehend how Obama, the nation's first black president might even come close to winning a second term.  I'm sure the executives there said to themselves, "this tootsie is going to be the icing on the cake."  Wrong.  They paid her three million dollars simply on an assumption.  What they truly should have done was to have revisited the McCain campaign and recognized how detrimental her presence had been.  She turned off quite a few women voters, that select group she was supposed to welcome in to the Republican Brood.  While the campaign was run poorly, Palin did very little to help it.  In fact, it seemed as though every time she gave an interview a turd fell out of her mouth.  She wanted to go rogue with out knowing the definition of the word.  Americans want a stable government, not one that's goes rogue when it doesn't get its way.

Pretty but not that smart

She speaks about family values, yet her children can't seem to stay married.  Image is very important in politics, it's more then standing on stage behind a microphone and looking pretty.  Being successful is very difficult when your family is a star of the tabloids.  I understand she said, of her future, there will always be people who want to hear her message.  Does she understand speaking to a crowd of seven can be a little disheartening.  The truth of the matter is she was the Flavor of the Month who lasted a little longer then most.  Now, what she needs to do is disappear completely and not leave a bad taste in the GOP's mouth.

Blinded by the Right

So, it looks like the honeymoon is over.  How do I know?  The GOP is beginning to dig their heels in becoming, once again, the most divisive political party in American History.  They don't understand that when you lose an election you need to learn to compromise.  Instead they seem cluelessly intent on catering to a shrinking base without even considering how bad this looks to the majority.  You don't win people over to your side by handing them what they know to be a plate of shit.  For example, take John McCain.  After losing his bid for the presidency, he should have sat out that last term as a senator and retired.  He would have earned so much respect traveling the country and become "the dignified hero."  When you chose a seriously flawed vice presidential candidate, and lose a seriously flawed campaign, you need to quietly step out of the limelight.  He must have slept through that lesson in school.  Now, he has basically become the unruly guest who will not leave the party.

Sadly, his only appeal seems to be to the right wing crazies who helped Mitt Romney lose his bid for the presidency.  I understand this January, McCain will no longer head up any committee and will be relegated to, if at best, a secondary position.  He is in his decendency and hates it.  As a result he will dig in his heels and say, and do, what ever it takes to get his name in the press.  Translate this into "he will not compromise."  This is exactly what the GOP is beginning to do because they also are in their decendency.  After the election there was all of this chit-chat bullshit about how they would need to re-evaluate, how they would have to compromise in order to broaden their appeal.  Of course, we all know that is never going to happen.  For this to occur they would need to admit they were wrong, that their political drift to the far right does not appeal to the majority of Americans.  I suspect they will continue to be an obstructionist party until they split themselves asunder.  Even then they will cry out and try and blame someone else.

Thursday, November 15, 2012

I saw where Mitt Romney made some sour grapes comments alleging Obama's victory had more to do with gifts to young blacks and Latinos then anything else.  Doesn't this sound a bit racist, especially when coming from an older white guy?  I suppose he must be appealing to all of those racists whose whose election night tweets were a reflection of the ugly side of America.  Like so many Republicans he is in denial.  In their minds there is no logical way they could have lost this past election which means they need to blame somebody or something.  This is quite normal with Republicans.  There is never a moment when they look at themselves in the mirror and admit to screwing up.  No, they are like that aging woman who paints her face with pounds of make up in order to convince herself she is still a porcelain beauty.  Like that old woman, they will eventually die still unaware the porcelain has cracked.  While there is some apparent bipartisanship jockeying right now history tells us the Republicans will shit it away because in their minds they can not be wrong.  If  you see anything even remotely resembling change it will only be one faction attempting to throw another faction under the bus.

Has the GOP already lost?

And you can bet they are already plotting the next presidential election.  I suspect they will run a white man for president and a token black, Latin, or woman as vice president.  Why?  Because they've tried using that playbook before:  McCain and Palin, a party ticket made in hell.  They don't understand.  For some reason they feel all they need to do is run a token to get votes.  People aren't that foolish.  They're not going to fall for the bait and switch.  Unless the GOP begins roasting some of the far right chestnuts no one is going to believe they've moved even marginally to the center.  What I suspect you'll see is more blame.  They may need to lose three elections in a row before they stop hitting the snooze button on realities alarm clock.
