My Super Kids!

One of my Christmas projects for this past year was to make hero capes for my kids. My boys are very into super heroes lately, and I remembered seeing my cousin make similar capes in years past, so I looked up the directions and decided to give it a shot. I was very ambitious, I made some not only for my kids, but also for my nieces and nephew. I love how they turned out.

Batman on one side - or a princess crown for my princess,

and superman/girl on the other. Instead of doing the typical S, I decided to specialize it for my super kids. They loved it! And I love that they'll always know which one is theirs. :) **Ross always has to have his arms up (flying) whenever he's Super Ross.

Mmmm Pie!

I made this yummy pie the other day for a friend. I've made this apple pie several times since my friend Sue gave me the recipe. It is so easy, and delicious! I so wanted to eat this one. I finally got the crust to work with me to make the weave. With wanting to lose weight, and eating healthier I had to sadly pass. But I took a picture to tempt me. :)

Kids at Play

Never a dull moment in our house. I love how my kids have great imaginations. I had to take a picture in the middle of my laughing with these boys. We had watched a dinosaur program and they decided to become an ankylosaurus. So they put one sock inside the other sock and tucked them into the back of their pants for the tail. Then they crawled around on all fours, stopping every few steps to swish their tail. You had to be there, sound effects and all.

Then we have Ross and Avery. For the most part, Roswell plays very nice with his sister. Such as in this picture. The only real problem is that Avery always wants Ross's toys and he's usually swiping hers.
As seen in this picture:
Avery playing with Ross's fire truck and Ross taking a swig out of the lovely teapot that makes fun "filling up with liquid" sounds.

Basement Camp-out Part Deux

Donovan earned his reward for his full sticker chart. It didn't surprise me that he also wanted to have a fort camp-out in the basement with daddy. He had lots of fun watching movies and being with daddy.
Daddy had fun too!

Mommy, not so much. Roswell ended up throwing up all night. And because Dan was 2 floors down, he couldn't hear a thing and mommy had the privilege of getting no sleep! Not so fun when I get up at 5am to get ready to teach seminary every morning.
Regardless, we all made it through and Dono had a wonderful time.

Family Picture Shoot

I wanted to get a family picture to send in Christmas cards, but I never had a camera handy when we all looked nice and someone else around to take it. So I finally figured out how to use the timer aspect on my camera. Voila!
Then Dan's parents sent us all matching red outfits, so we wore them the Sunday before Christmas.
I liked the pictures, but was getting confused as to why they all seem so hazy. Then I found out while I was reviewing videos saved that Dan let Avery get her hands on the lens. Boy what a good cleaning will do!

Don't you just love their smiles? Their personalities shine through them!
The Sunday after Christmas my sweet family got to wear matching outfits again! I love it! One of my many Christmas sewing projects was to make family outfits for church. With the same material I made matching ties for the boys, Daddy included, and Avery and Mommy got matching dresses too. It was fun and not as big a project as I anticipated! There was no mistaking who belonged in our family! -not that they could really be mistaken for another family anyway. :)

Fort Camp-Out (12-29-10)

To reward good and helpful behavior, our kids all get a sticker chart with approx. 30 boxes. When they fill up the chart with stickers, they get to choose (within reason) what they want as a reward. Elliott has been working for a camp-out with daddy. He finally did it! When all his siblings went to sleep, Elliott and Daddy made a fort of blankets and then watched a movie and had fun snacks.
Then they went to sleep.
Actually, when I snuck down to take a picture, Dan was asleep and Elliott was staring at him. :) Elliott had a blast. Donovan was so jealous, that now he wants to do the same thing when his chart is full. I don't mind as long as it encourages good behavior!
