Got Stuff? ... Need Stuff?

Hi Dawgs!

Sneaking in a post while dogmom is staring at the big paper brick again. She's been looking at the same two for a few weeks now. I don't get it... she tries to read them out loud to me, but she sounds a lot like the Charlie Brown parents when she does. Something about farmokologee and something about pearosites called neematoads and cestoads. I don't see any toads or farms anywhere near here. I think she's gone totally bonkers since Gomer's gone.

Anypaws... I don't have much time before she sees me on the laptop. So the point is this... Pet Crossing Animal Hospital and Dental Clinic is hosting a yard sale next Saturday, October 3rd from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

All the proceeds will benefit the homeless pets that live at the clinic while their moms and hooman kids are in the domestic abuse shelter. The animals get tons of TLC, a safe place to stay, a soft place to sleep, and food and water thanks to the wonderful employees that work with dogmom. But some of them need a lot more care... like dental surgery and expensive medications for their arthritis and kidneys and livers and stuff.

So, the staff are hosting a yard sale to raise money for the pets. Over the course of a year, the employees and the hospital spend about $75k on the pets that need homes and care. Can you help just a little bit?

You could help if ...
  • you "Got Stuff" that you don't need (and you live in the Minneapolis area) or you want to donate - please take it to Pet Crossing before next Thursday, October 1st.
  • you "Need Stuff" - then please stop by Pet Crossing next Saturday, October 3rd, and buy something or make a donation.
  • you have a web site where you could post this information.
  • you have friends in the Minneapolis/Bloomington area that you could email with this information.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Ask Us! Ask Us!

Ok, so dogmom has this crazy idea of starting an advice column from the Dogs' Aye View.

Not advice about the medical and behavioral stuff you and your humans should be barking at the veterinarians and trained professionals about... but the other stuff.

You know, like why does Opie jump the fence? (To get to the other side.)
And what should I do when somebody is standing too close or bugging me? (Lick them in the face.)

She said it's similar to what Perfect Tosca does with her mailbag of questions. But we don't get a mailbag of questions... so now we want some.

So, if you have a question that you would like answered from the Dogs' Aye View, please post a comment or email Opie and me at dogsayeview@aol.com - we can't wait to check our email! (If you don't want your question posted or printed, please just say so in your email!)

Look! We're Fish!

Dogmom is a little slow these days about keeping up with everybody's blogs. She says it's cuz she's spending more time taking us on walks in the morning and in the evening... ok, she is but that doesn't mean she can't let us keep up with our friends, right?

We got home from Dog Pad last night... well, dogmom came and picked us up, ya know. Anyways, Tory told dogmom that Opie was an angel and behaved and didn't get into any trouble and even got to run around outside and didn't have any time outs at all.

I... on the other hand... was a complete jerk. I spent most of the weekend in time out cuz I just wasn't in the mood for all those other dogs and I didn't want dogmom to go bye-bye without us. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Anyways... Look! Here are our koi fish in Butchy and Snickers pond. We're sorry that it took us almost a week to notice that we were even pictured up there. Aren't we cute?

Know what we noticed even more than how cute we are? Hmmm? Just look at how much food our koi fish get. Obviously, Butchy and Snickers' mom isn't concerned that the Gomer and Opie koi fish will get fat. Meanwhile, the Gomer and Opie dogs are on a diet with rationed food and treats and chew bones.

What's up with that, dawgs?!?

Anyway... we stole this description from Butchy and Snicker's blog (http://butchyandsnickers.blogspot.com/). "This is Opie & Gomer: Opie is the top fish, Gomer the bottom fish. Opie is Metallic Golden Silver with Black edges on the scales. Gomer is Metallic Copper with Black edges on the scales. Both Opie & Gomer's Mama fish is Silver. These colors of fish are gorgeous outside in the pond, especially when the sun is shining. A photo just doesn't show their beauty."

Who's Bed Is It, Anyways?

Ok. So dogmom is on this whole bed kick again. As in kicking us off the bed.

Can you believe it? She actually wants to kick Opie and me, the bestest dogs in the world, off the bed?

This picture shows where she says we're supposed to be on the bed. "Your spots" she calls them. It's a constant thing... all night long... "GO-mer, go get on Your spot." "Oh-peeee, move over to YOUR spot."

I mean, how's a dog supposed to get any sleep?

Do you dogs notice anything wrong with this picture?

Huh, do ya?

It's ok. We'll wait. I'm sure it will come to you...

Did you figure it out?

Here are some hints ...

Just look at all the room she seems to think she needs for herself. I mean, come on! Look how much better it is if I get to spread out more.

Geesh. We need help here, dogs. Big time!

It's Willie! (We Think!)

Hi Dawgs!

You remember Willie, dontcha? I'm sure you do, but your humans probably forgot. You can remind them about Willie and Bella... 'member, they had puppies in August. Willie and Bella's mom works with our dogmom at the paper. If you don't remember, here are some links to their puppy posts on our blog...

Puppies, Puppies Everywhere! (Aug 3, 2006): http://dogsayeview.blogspot.com/2006/08/puppies-puppies-everywhere_115461502466470010.html

Bella's Puppies (Sept 5, 2006): http://dogsayeview.blogspot.com/2006/09/bellas-puppies.html

Go ahead, you can go look. We'll wait...

dum-de-dum-de-dee-dee-dum...

Oh, you're back already? Ok... so... the snow is all melty and gone now and it's kinda rainy this week here so it's getting kind of... dogmom says not kind of, but very... muddy outside. She's constantly wanting to wipe our paws and Gomer's belly when we come inside. It really...

Um. Sorry. Lost my train of thought there... I am almost seven, you know.

Anyways... back to Willie. He lost his ball in the snow a couple of months ago or something. Well... we're glad to report...
HE FOUND IT!
Um... or maybe he went to the spa for a mud mask and didn't tell us!

Four-Legged Love Stories

Yo - Dawgs!

DogMom found this droolerrific site and wanted us to tell ya all about it. We've already sent in our love story to be included and hope that you will, too. It's really a feel-good, fun and totally loveable thing to do. I mean, we all got doggie love stories to tell, right?

Ok. Ok. I'm sorry. I just get so excited when I think about it that I run around in circles and forget to tell you what it is that I'm excited about. I'm mostly labrador, remember?

Here it is... it's a relatively new web site called... are you ready? 'Course you are...

It's a web site completely devoted to letting our people share their "love" for their pets! Yup... you can send in your story and they'll post it. They posted Floppy's story (DogMom's dog before us) and we just sent ours in.

DogMom asked 'StinkyPaw,' the lady who started the site, why she's doing this... like she needed an explanation, 'cuz she thinks it's a great idea... but she thought all you dogs might want to know in case you need to convince your humans... Here's what 'StinkyPaw' said:

"I decided to create "Love is a Four-Legged Word" (link: fourleggedlove.wordpress.com) after the death of our beloved pooch, when I realised that even if I did post about her and our cat on a fairly regular base on my blog ("Stories 2 Tell" -- link: stories-2-tell.blogspot.com), I had never really truly expressed all that she meant to me. So, I decided that I wanted to offer a place where all could share their love, that unconditional love affair that animal lovers have with their furry friends.

Love is a four-legged word and I do believe that it comes in all shapes and sizes. Whoever is interested is telling me (and the world!) why love is a four legged word, they simply have to send me, Stinkypaw, a picture (jpg or gif format) of their pet with a caption to fourleggedlove@gmail.com and I will gladly post it."

Isn't that droolerrific? Bet your humans love you enough to let you share your story!

(Oh yeah, don't forget to vote in the survey and guess what breed Opie is! Just click the link at the top of our blog!)

We Be Da Bestest Boyz!

So, we're still playing at Dog Pad this morning and we're so excited, cuz we think DogMom is going to come and get us today and take us home. It seems like the right amount of time.

We're really excited, cuz we think we've been the absolute bestest boyz ever for Tory and Mike this time...
  • I (Gomer) didn't growl at anybody for trying to pay too much attention to me, especially the new girl.
  • Opie hasn't jumped the fence even one time!
  • Opie didn't get snarky with anybody because he didn't want to go inside and take his "going home today" bath.

Ok, well, we weren't both perfect... ahem, although I was... since Opie pee'd all over his t-shirt after Tory put it on him since he was cold.

Anyways, we were really good boyz this time and we can't wait for dogmom to come get us so that Tory can tell her and she'll be all excited and, you know what?

I bet we'll get one of those special chew bones when we get home!

Wuf Ya! (Oh, yeah, and we're really glad to be back blogging again!)

We Be Dog Pad Dogs!

We're gonna go to Tory's house! We're gonna go to Tory's house!
We're going to Dog Pad! We're going to Dog Pad!

We wuf Dog Pad almost as much as we like being at home with dogmom. I mean, if we can't be snuggling and playing with dogmom, then the next best place to be is at Dog Pad. We wuf it there.

Tory and Mike take the bestest care of us.
We get to eat our food, just like at home.
We get cookies, just like at home.
We get to run around outside all day ... which we don't get to do at home.
We get to play with lots of other dogs ... which we don't get to do at home.
We get to play with Tory and Mike ... which we don't get to do at home.

Tory and Mike have figured out our personalities... and, guess what! They actually put up with us anyways!

Anyhow... if we can't be at home by ourselves ... (which I think our postings the last couple of months have proven) ... then we'd rather be at Dog Pad!

We might not post for a few days, since we'll be way to busy having fun at Dog Pad... but we'll tell ya all about it when we come back!
