The Robin's Egg Blue Hat is the winner by a landslide! Thank you all for taking the time to check out the projects and give me your opinion. I casted on earlier today.
I'm knitting this using Paton's Shetland Chunky in Denim Jeans Variegated which is an acrylic/wool blend. The seed stitch band for the hat starts on straight needles. The body of the hat is knit in the round.
Knitting this for a friend makes the knitting so much more meaningful.
Happy Knitting!

Knit for Who?: My Knitted Owl Hat
By
Allison
Another hat! Yes, this time it's the pattern Who? from Ravelry by Sara Amoroso. I saw this when searching for a pattern for a hat for hubby. I had to knit it. Making owls out of cables made me happy. I love birds. This will officially be my filling the birdfeeders hat.
I used up the rest of the grey Patons Astra I bought for Hubby's ribbed hat. There was no problem with the size using 4mm needles.
Love the cable owls with my vintage buttons for eyes, of course!
What's on my needles now? Another hat!

Ribbed Hat is Over and Done With!
By
Allison
Here it is hubby's ribbed hat using That Chocolate's Gone Straight to Your Ribs Hat pattern by Leonie Connellan found here on Ravelry.
I didn't knit it as long as the pattern called for because it would have been too long for a beanie. I started my decreases when the hat measured about 7 inches. As you can see, it fits hubby's 23 inch head perfectly.
This is such an easy pattern. Great for any beginning knitters out there.

Too Many Needles, None the Right Size: Knitting Frustrations
By
Allison
I finally got around to buying the wool for my next knitting project which is this ribbed hat for hubby. While visiting my mom this week, I raided her yarn stash for the small amount of yarn I need to stripe the hat. Eager to get to work on it this snowy cold Saturday, I needed to find 4 mm circular needles 60 cm long in my collection of needles.
You'd think in this pile of needles I'd find the right size.
No!
I've got duplicate sizes. I even have a 3.75 mm circular needle. I could use it, because the gauge would still be okay with DK yarn I'm using. But, they are too long for the amount of stitches I need to cast on.
Oh well, looks like I'll have to visit my LYS and buy another pair to add to my collection.
