Etsy Shopper Survey

We picked this up from Twitter...Etsy has a shopper survey in the Storque. It is only active until Sunday, so let's hit them and hit them hard with your ideas for improving the buyers' experience!

Attention Shoppers!

We want to make the shopping experience better on Etsy and we need your help. We value your input and would love to gain some insight into your experience of Etsy's current checkout process, how you find what you want to buy, and how you prefer to pay for your purchases.

If you've ever purchased on Etsy, please take our brief Shopper Survey. It'll take three minutes! This survey will only be live until Sunday night, November 30, 2008, so please don't delay!

(EDIT by Cranky: They seemed to have moved the link, November 30th my ass. Maybe they were getting answers they didn't like about the IHPS question and shut it down early, or was it that people actually found it? If the link returns, we'll let you know! But wouldn't it have been nice for them to send this out to ALL the members in an email instead of hiding it in The Cupcakery Times?)

EDIT by Righteous: If you are re-directed to the Etsy homepage it is because they recorded you as already having taken the survey.

Buyers Remorse No Longer Allowed on Etsy...

Did you know that? Apparently, there is some place in the Do's and Don't's that specifically says that buyers are NOT allowed to cancel a sale.

http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5649639&page=1

I honestly feel bad for any buyers that venture into the forums for help. Especially when you have sellers demanding that you apologize for canceling the sale.

This quote horrifies me - wicopy says:

No, cancelling a sale is not cool, you don't get to change your mind from "Buyer's remorse." This is not a brick and mortar store, you don't get to walk back in with your receipt and say you wish to return it. Etsy is a group of many shops, each with their own policies, and many of us do not allow for cancels, returns, refunds, etc. etc. Do shop carefully with that in mind.

In fact, everything that came spewing forth from this person scared me. I understand that individual stores have individual policies (when they actually stay saved, that is), but being this bitter about a canceled sale CAN NOT be healthy.

Bravo to the sellers who were smart enough to step in and defend the poor buyer. I know that I would personally love it if a customer was nice enough to try and cancel a sale without just wondering off into the sunset. I've had non-paying buyers, but I wouldn't hesitate to be NICE to one that had to cancel.

Etsy from a Buyers Perspective...

The original post says it all, really...

Maxornot says:

I have had no problem ordering from any site previously, but in this
case, I was checking out, I'd already entered in the Shipping Address
-- not my address -- and the Ship-To was given as my address.

I could not 'Change' it, though it should have pulled the address I
entered. because it was an International address. I was ordering an
item from a seller in Australia, TO an Australian address.

Even with all this, I immediately received an order confirmation from
Etsy, even though I had not fully checked out.

The email response I have received from Etsy, clearly indicates that
the support person is not reading one word of my notes, but keeps
posing other questions, then, saying she can't recreate the problem. I
have asked that the transaction, and all my information be deleted,
after spending an hour and a half on this.

To make matters worse. When I looked at my ordering history, the order
is there, as entered, with the correct ship-to address, yet through
the cart, and at the last stage, as I stated, it did not show that
address.

I used to work for an online business -- never had this sort of
difficulty. Why would you want to sell if buyers can't buy?

The best part was yet to come in the following trainwreck of a thread. http://www.etsy.com/forums_thread.php?thread_id=5637833

If I were Maxornot, there would be a list of people I would never buy from after some of the things people said in the thread. I completely understand why he/she isn't going to buy from Etsy until they figure their stuff out. Though, I do not agree with Etsy having their own IHPS. (Does anyone else read that as IHOP when they're tired?)
