DollsHouse and Miniature Scene Cover

Finally got my hands of two magazines with some of my work in them.
First!... I am so very excited to say my Marie Antoinette roombox made the cover of DollsHouse and Miniature Scene April 2012 issue.
It is always great to have my creations published, but to have it on cover is too cool!!

Deb Weissler wrote a wonderful article about my roomboox and really summed up the life of Marie Antoinette so well.

She also did a great job of making sure all the artists represented in the scene were mentioned.
Just to name a few:
Doll by Todd Krueger and Sylvia Mobley
Chair dressed by Kelly Curtis
Jewelry by Lori Ann Potts
Shoes by Sylvia Roundtree (The Dolls Cobbler) and Dominique Ochsenbein (Humpty Dumpty House
Cakes and pastries by Jackie Dunn, Lori Tonetti, Ann Caesar of the Kitchen Captive, Leslie Burgess of The English Kitchen, and Emmaflam and Miniman.
The champagne bottle by minicris of Italy.
pugs, sculpted by Canadian artist Karl

Also... I am very proud of my first show coverage article in Dollhouse Miniatures March/April 2012 issue.. Thanks to all the wonderful artistes at the Denver show who allowed me to photograph there precious treasures. I had a great time doing it. It is a wonderful way to meet all the artists and really get to know them.. below are some photos form the article..

Versailles View and more Butterflies

I was able to finish Marie Antoinette’s window this weekend. I am really happy with how it turned out. This bespaq room box usually has a back on it behind the cove. But I took it off and created a window with a view of The Versailles gardens and palace. I really opened it up. It really is a pretty small room so I think this made it more grand looking. I have seen a couple of Michael Puff’s room boxes with this type of faux window in the back in person. I was just amazed by them!! so I decided to try it.

I will be adding a few gold leaf and brass accents to the front of the box, but otherwise I am pretty much finished..

Wood floor finished from a kit.. I have a beautiful rug that looks great in here but now I can't bare to cover the floor up. Hehe!!

A few photos of more butterfly themed items I have special order made recently.

quick photos of Marie Antoinette, Wednesday Addams and little Rose

I admire the doll artists so much. I would love to be able to sculpt a face. I have tried a few times:-)

My lovely Marie Antoinette sculpted by Sylvia Mobley

http://www.sylviamobley.com/ .

She is porcelain and so very dainty.. I always forget how tiny her dolls and animals are until I see them. She was painted, wigged and dressed by Todd Kurger http://www.bytkd.com.. I tried to show all the detail she has. Hope some of it comes through in the photos..

Todd told me he used silk taffeta and antique lace on the dress..

Todd finished her stocking and shoes even though they are under her dress and can't be seen unless I lift her dress.. I just LOVE... that..

This is the start of my Wednesday Addams doll buy Soraya Merino http://sorayaminiatures.jimdo.com/ .. I already am so loving her face..

.. Little Rose by Pat Benedict http://woopitydooart.blogspot.com . I have had her for a few years and had planned to put her in a haunted house I wanted. But I think that is going to be too big of a project for the near future. So I have decided to maybe make her Wednesday’s little sister. I know Wednesday did not have a sister.. As far as I know?? I never really watched the TV series.. I know it is shameful of me.. Heheh.. Maybe someone out there in Blog land can enlighten me. I am trying to watch them on Hulu.. But I just love Christina Ricci’s character on the movies.. I think she will be going in a crib I have. She is surrounded by a few spooky items I have been collecting for the haunted house and will probably now go in Wednesday’s Room box.
