personal curriculum

This season on Creative Crossroads (the podcast I host with my pal Catherine) we decided to include some conversations just between the two of us. One of those episodes dropped today...

In this episode Catherine and I talk about creating a personal curriculum. Have you heard of this concept? Apparently it's quite popular especially among younger folks (ok let's be honest,  most everyone is younger than me! Ha). Basically, it's anything that has captured your attention and caused you to dig deep into researching it just for your own amusement. Anyways, Catherine introduced me to it and when she described it I realize I've been creating a personal curriculum for myself all along.

I encourage you to listen to the podcast for all of the details about my personal curriculum and Catherine's too. I assure you they are both interesting, but totally different from each other! Mine centers around architecture, specifically Frank Lloyd Wright. And no, I won't be returning to college for an architecture degree, but I am enjoying all that I am learning.

I talk on the podcast about my recent visit to Taliesin West, Wright's architecture camp/school in Scottsdale, AZ. During a recent visit to Phoenix, hubby and I had a free day to tour Taliesin and it was absolutely gorgeous and fascinating...

I love the way all of the buildings blend into the scenery. And I can't wait to learn more about Wright, his buildings and philosophy. Hopefully I'll have the opportunity to visit more of his creations too.

Do you have a personal curriculum? Something that has sent you down a rabbit hole lately? I'd love to hear about it!

season 2 of Creative Crossroads

Catherine and I are back at the podcasting! And here's some fun news.... we are now posting our episodes onYouTube as well as on the podcast apps. We've posted 2 episodes so far this season one of the two of us chatting about what's catching our attention these days.

The second season 2 episode is an interview with my good friend Kathie Roig. Kathie is a weaver (in fact she's the one who taught me to weave!) and tryer of all the craft mediums. I think you'll love hearing about her trial and error method of developing new processes.

Here's Kathie with one of her pieces in a recent exhibit

Kathie weaves great kitchen towels too!

I hope you'll pop on over and take a listen or a watch and let me know what you think! Looking forward to bringing you lots more fun and interesting interviews.

Creative Crossroads

Something fun I have begun with my pal Catherine! We are recording a podcast! Introducing Creative Crossroads, available now on all the popular streaming services...

Our first series of interviews is with a variety of wonderful artists, exploring their creative process. It's been fascinating learning how differently we all create.

First up, available now for listening, is a chat with our friend Dusty Allendorf. Dusty is a wonderful modern quilter. Listen now to learn how she uses technology as an important element of her process.

Also available for streaming is our interview with artist Amanda Dunbar. Amanda is primarily an oil painter. She talks about not being afraid to explore new ideas here.

I hope you'll listen and let me know what you think! More episodes are coming your way very soon.
