Beading, Stitching, & Screwing Up!

The End of the Organization Frenzy

I'm thisclose to finishing my floss organization. I ran out of Floss-a-Way baggies, so I have about 50 skeins of floss waiting for the arrival of more so that they can join the floss in the closet. For specialty floss, each brand got a ring on the hanger; for DMC, each number group (100s, 200s, etc.) got a ring on the hanger- the DMC took up two hangers!

I do need to find a better way to organize my patterns, but I'm burnt out on the idea, so it will have to wait.

Chatêlaine & Scissor Fob

I was inspired by Kate at Needles and Haystacks to make my own chatêlaine. I chose owl, flower, and leafy branch charms to go with the garnet, peridot, and picture jasper beads.

Were I to make another one (always a possibility!), I would make the frogging needle shorter, and I would choose a bigger charm for the top. I like the pearl, but for grabbing purposes, it's a little small. There's a ladybug charm at Michael's that I've been eying, but I lack the black bicone beads that I envision with it. I'm short on silver crimp beads as well, so that a good reason to not buy more beading supplies!

I made myself this Santa frog scissor fob. The frog was a bead, so I added jingle bell to turn him into a charm.

I haven't made many scissor fobs, but I think this is my favorite!

I'm Surrounded by Idiots!

Namely...myself. Looking at Chillin' Out, I realized that I hadn't added the cat's eyes. I also noticed a couple of dirty spots. Without thinking, I threw the piece in some cold water with Woolite, and...ta-dah!

I ruined it! LESSON LEARNED! Floss that isn't colorfast, well, isn't colorfast! Mostly I'm laughing at my own stupidity because I do actually know better, but a little part of me is kicking myself in the backside because I gave away this pattern in August. Alack, alas, and oh, well! So much for that one!

On a Brighter Note...

I won the CSE Bingo this month and received this adorable prize from Shelley!

It was Nascar bingo. I hate Nascar, so naturally, I won!

I finally got enough ribbon to outline my Heraldic Rose Needle Case, so it is officially complete! It is now home to my plethora of random needles.

I made some progress on There are Fairies, but I've put it aside for the time being to work on Heads Up and some Christmas presents.

I have a few more light green leaves and then it is all bird in the most vibrant shade of blue! Trust me when I say that the picture does not come anywhere near doing justice for this beautiful floss!

Heads Up

This is the pattern that I fell in love with and Shelley sent me the wool and Memory Thread for.

I finally started working on it, but due to my brain's lack of understanding regarding the Smyrna stitch, I had to frog it and start over. Right now, there's but one stitch in the piece, but it's ready to be worked on as soon as this blog is finished.

An Exchange, Perhaps?

I'm looking for someone to do a private, one-on-one exchange with me. I stitched an Autumn ornament for an exchange that fell through, but I'd still like it to brighten someone's home. If you're interested, email me at Anne.Sans.Tete@gmail.com

In Other News

I finished a couple of small stitching and beading projects, but they are gifts, so I'll have to post about them next month. One of them required a Rhodes Heart, which I hadn't done before, but I managed to figure it out, and I think they look pretty good for a first effort!

My prick and pounce tools arrived yesterday, but I'm in a cross stitching mood, so I've stashed them until the crewel mojo returns.

I've been asked to review My Memories Digital Scrapbooking software, so I'll have to get on that and let you know what I think.

Everyone Loves Candy! Giveaway

Candy Shop by Brightneedle

Who doesn't like candy?! In honor of the fact that I've finished stitching Candy Shop and the fact that candy is delicious, I'm giving away the Candy Shop pattern and the DMC floss to stitch it. The pattern is slightly worn from travelling the world, but the pattern & key have not been harmed; the floss is the skeins that I used, and there is still plenty of floss left to stitch this piece. The fabric is up to you!

In order to enter the giveaway...

2. Be(come) a follower for an extra entry
3. Post on your blog for an extra entry

The giveaway will close on November 15th at 5p.m. PST.
