Wednesday Challenge

Here we are at Wednesday already!! Some of us Unity fans have a challenge group that took a little hiatus over the summer, but now we're back!!
This week Lisa challenged us to a Christmas card with reds, blues, pinks, and Kraft. I must admit - Christmas cards are tough for me right now - I'm just not ready yet!!
Anyway, here is what I came up with - not sure if I like it yet though.
I used my Unity Snow-one like you set. The sentiment is from by Bitty Christmas Tag set. All the colors of the challenge are in the patterned paper that I used - Memory Box. I added some pink and blue with a red bow and rhinestones.
Happy Hump Day!! Thanks for stopping by!!

My 1st Submission.....

Well.......here it is. My very first publication submission. What is the publication???? Check it out HERE..........Embellish Magazine. Ashley and her husband have created this fresh new online magazine and are taking submissions for their very first issue. To make it even better, they are giving away an iPod Touch to the submission that makes it onto the cover!! Deadline for submitting is September 27th!!

This is my entry - It's an anniversary card I put together using the colors in the publication call. I absolutely love this color combo too!! I might just have to make another card or project to submit. Who knows...........maybe I'll get lucky!!

Even if you don't enter a project, be sure to check out Embellish!!

I used my Unity Love Grows set and my Unity Distressed Dots too. Twine was also a requirement in the submission and I used in around the card and in the button.

Wish me luck on getting published and check back for more.

Thanks for stopping by.

Unity Wednesday - Stampin' on the inside......

Here is my Wednesday Challenge card for this week. I used my Love & Meaning Unity single stamp for the first time. This could pass for a Valentine or a Just Because card. The challenge came to us from Sara this week and she wanted to see everyone do something with the inside of the card. Fun, Fun!! I don't usually put anything on the inside, but should really get into the habit because I like the way this came out.

I started by using my SU markers and only inking up the flowers on the stamp because I knew I wanted to save the sentiment for the inside. The designer paper is from the new yummy Candy Cane Lane DSP packet available from SU right now. There is a lot of great paper in this set with flowers, stripes, pinks, reds.......it's a must have. Check out the Love You Much Promotion. It's a great deal.
The "love" on the front is part of the love you sentiment in an SU set I have. I used SU ruby red and Close to Cocoa with the DSP and stamped on Whisper White with a little sponging.
Oh yeah...........the artist on this Unity stamp - Lisa Hetrick!!

Unity Wednesday..........we're back!!

After a short break for the holidays, the Unity Wednesday Gang is back!! So is Hip Hop Thursday. Make sure you stop by - big changes this year at Unity!!
This weeks challenge was offered up by yours truly. Going along with my 2009 motto and the fact that everyone has been so busy, I decided to keep it simple and put up a SLIM Challenge:
Sometimes
Less
Is
More
In this weeks challenge, the less on your card, the better. A card base, and image, a sentiment, and one embellishment. That's it.
Above and below are close ups of two of the 4 cards to the set I came up with. I used my Humble Bloom set from Unity and stamped with my SU Markers.
Here is the whole set of thank you cards. Can you see the sunshine I put in each corner? They are actually each of the flowers in the set stamped in yellow. Cute huh? The sentiments come from various Unity sets as well. On each card I added an embellishment for a little dimension and voila!!

Make sure you check out the challenge in the Unity Forum on SCS and take some time to check out Hip Hop on Thursday!!
Thanks for looking and have a great Wednesday!

Verve OSW Challenge

Here is my 4 card submission for the Verve Stamps OSW (one sheet wonder) Challenge. I made a set of 4 thank you cards. I don't have any Verve Stamps so I used my Unity Kit of the Month for August. That set has these three pretty butterflies in it. This challenge was fun and there were no designer paper scraps left afterward. I may have to do another one. The DP was Eclectique Scroll from Chatterbox. It's a very bold pretty print with lots of color options.

BTW - did you notice, I now have my own watermark (thanks to Veronica again) for my photos!!

Moments........

Worked on this card last night and finished it today for the LSC on Splitcoast (Limited Supply Challenge). Card had to have a coffee cup and the color orange! I used the coffee cup from my Unity Magnificent Moments set and added some glitter to the steam and along side the sentiment. The background is the Distressed Dots background stamp also from Unity.

Personally I am a tea drinker! I love the smell of coffee, but just don't like the taste. Thanks for looking..........off to do some homework and housework! Going to try another challenge later if I get the time.

Unity Challenge Wednesday!!

This is my submission for this weeks Unity Challenge Wednesday. In preparation for Hip Hop Thursdays with Unity Stamps, a bunch of us submit work using our Unity stamps to get geared up for Thursdays! This is a new set I just got on Monday called Humble Bloom. It was calling out to me to "ink it up" tonight, so this is what I came up with. The challenge was to use the Unity Stamp Co. colors plus one color or your choice. I've got my brown and turquoise and I picked very vanilla. Added a little glitter to liven it up! Head over here and check out the other submissions for this week, then stop back Thursday and check out the Hip Hoppin' goin' on!!

Mini Challenge

I was blog hopping today, and stopped at Jennifer Buck's place. She had a post about a challenge, a "mini" challenge she did with a few of the other Unity DT gals (AJ, Maren, and Amber). I really enjoy making smaller cards and the challenge was for cards smaller than 3.5" x 3.5". My set is 3" x 3" and I used the sunflower from the Unity ecoChic set. The designer paper is from the Harvest & Holiday Debbie Mumm paper pad now at Joann's. There are lots of cute papers in there and they were on sale for 40% off!
Check out these 4 ladies cards - they are super talented!!

I Made the Round Up!!!

Wow, just go on my laptop this weekend and discovered that my card made the Round Up at Kristina Werner's blog for the Color Challenge Round Up this past week!!! I'm super excited!! This is only the second time I have submitted. I just love the color combos she comes up with each week. For this one, I used the Unity Stamp single "Leave a Trail" that I won a couple of weeks ago. This was also the sketch from the Splitcoast weekly sketch challenge.

Unity Stamp Challenge #1

Here it is...........my submission for this weeks Unity Stamp Challenge! Those of us who daydream about being on the design team have gotten together and decided to have challenges amongst ourselves and share ideas the days before the big Hip Hop Thursday hoopla. This week we were to case any one of the Unity Design Team members cards we wanted. I chose to case Jennifer Buck-check out her blog here. Her work is amazing and she is super talented.
I used some SU basic grey cardstock with some designer paper from last years DCWV fall stack. Added some glitter and googlie eyes to my tree and shredded my ribbon in hopes it would look a little like a bat. Thanks for looking......again!! I'm done for tonight, way past my bedtime.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I've had a busy week and a half. My college classes have started this week and this past weekend I had my son's birthday party, a garage sale, and a concert. Here are a couple of the things I was able to put together for some challenges over on Splitcoast.
I'm not going to go into details on each one of these - gotta get makin' some more cards! Tomorrow is Hip Hop Thursday over at the Unity Forum. Check it out - they are giving away over $300 worth of free stamps throughout the day.
This card above is my submission for both the SC191 on Splitcoast and the color challenge at kwernerdesignblog.
Sorry for the quick post. Gotta go for now. Thanks for looking!!

Perfect Match!

I found this really great paper and thought............this would be perfect to use with my Unity Giggle Grove set. It almost looks like they made it just for this stamp set!! I bought it yesterday and had to use it right away. This is what I came up with. The base of the card is kraft and the colors used with the paper are Stampin' Up! Apricot Appeal and Mellow Moss. The ink is SU Chocolate Chip. The sentiment is from the new Growing in Unity set that wasw also a must have. There are so many other great color combos that could be used with this paper. This won't be the last card you see with this stuff. The card was based on a sketch I found on Jen del Muro's blog. I wish I had more of it!! It comes in the new DCWV Fall Glitter Stack-and that stack has lots of other great papers in it too!!

Cupcake Challenge

I have been following the Cupcake Challenge at Taylored Expressions for some time now. I had the entire day to myself (since my son is gone on an overnight to a water park with friends) and came up with this card for this weeks challenge. Pretty basic, simple card using the only small cupcake stamp I have from SU's Short & Sweet set. The sentiment is from Unity's Cupcake A'la Yummy set. You don't have to use cupcakes, but these turned out so cute on Taylor's card, that I went with it. I colored them in using my SU Stampin' Write markers. The cardstock is SU Lovely Lilac, Certainly Celery, and Pumpking Pie. The designer paper is from DCWV. It was a fun sketch and an easy one too!! Thanks for looking!

Color Inspiration Challenge

Today (since we have had nothing but rain, rain, rain) I decided to try out the Color Inspiration Challenge at kwernerdesignblog. This weeks challenge required the use of whisper white, sage shadow, regal rose, and rose red. I used my SU set "Doodle This" for the flower images. They were colored in with my pastels in sage, regal, and rose using the blender pen on watercolor paper for a watercolor effect. I don't yet own any ink pads in these colors. I also sponged the edges a little to give the base of the card a little more color. Not my best card, but it came out okay. The sentiment is also SU and it is matted on rose red and sage shadow cardstock pieces. I stamped that using my markers. Thanks for looking!
