Ducky Momo No More!

After listening to this inspiring interview with storyboard artist Aliki Theofilopoulos Grafft, I'd been binge watching episodes of "Phineas and Ferb" and was surprised how it was still producing quality material after all this time!

Then I found out that the show was going into indefinite hiatus.

It got be to thinking about how the characters in the show itself might feel about losing cartoon characters that had brought them such joy as well. Hence this shot of Candace and her beloved Ducky Momo parting ways in homage to the cover of Amazing Spider-Man #50.

Hm... Let's see if I can end this on a happier note.

Penciled Packages

Christmas is coming sooner than I'd like. Not because of any cynicism, but rather because it means I now have a ticking clock when it comes to Christmas themed projects.

One person who seems to be ahead of the game is my neighbor Shannon, who asked if I would draw some characters on the wrapping for some presents she is going to mail her nieces and nephews.

Working on midtone paper and colored pencil was very different from the kind of sketches I've been doing this summer, but it offered a variety of textures and shades I wouldn't have been able to try otherwise.

Elsa, I just can't seem to let her go

Marvel Day at Barnes & Noble

Doctor Who Plushies I had mentioned on Geek Fallout

Much like the Batman Birthday last month, Barnes & Noble had a Marvel Day celebration that coincided with the premiere of Guardians of the Galaxy. So a group of us from the Michigan Comics Collective set up to do some more sketches for the customers.

Hulk Mad because he not drawn with nipples!

Hulk for Xander

This drawing is suspiciously similar to one I did for my very first sketch day

Elsa and Olaf for Kenzie

Caroline with Venom

Crystal with The Hulk

Neena with Ms. Marvel

She-Hulk for Bethany

Lisa with Iron Man

Ashley with Captain America

Come back next weekend to see my sketches for Barnes & Noble's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Premiere Party!

Collector's Corner Sketch Day

On Wednesday, Collector's Corner, the local comics and game shop, hosted a Free Sketch Day for the patrons. Myself and other area artists drew various pop culture characters to promote the kickstarter campaign for the Michigan Comics Collective's new anthology book

Here are the sketches that I did for our visitors.

Thomas with Spider-Man

Paxton with Cyborg

Katie with Alice

Wayne with Rocket Raccoon

Larry with Carnage

Valentine with The Tenth Doctor
Liam with Daredevil

Erica with The Eleventh Doctor

Zac with the White Aquitian Ranger

Wayne with The Rev of Avenged Sevenfold

Raelina with herself as a princess

Kamina with a Lawn Gnome Wizard

It was a lot of fun to meet with people and draw for them even when there was the pressure to pick up the pace. We're planning to do this next month to celebrate the 75th Batman-iversary. You'd better believe I'll be there.
