The other one for a very sad occasion :

this little boy is still fighting for his life!
 This is for Jaxsen

and this is for little Cale , this quilt was blessed this morning by Father Peter from St. Xavier and I appliqued a image of  St .Jude onto the back

My entries for the PNQE Show

I was finally able to get the O.K. to post pictures of my two quilts for the SAT 16 Challenge from the Stretching Art and Traditions. This year was Illuminated Letters and mine are my initials RC. I painted the R and added 3-D roses made out of satin ribbon and embroidered silk ribbon roses , my inspiration was my Tattoo ! The letter C was a challenge because it is raw edge applique and that is totally against my love for perfection, I added the tree which was a hankie or doily I found in the thrift shop and placed a little bracelet charm from my home town on the branch.  Now it was time to design  a family crest . My maiden name is Wolf and my husbands last name is Cruz .

A dark brown sectional was ordered, dark blue curtains and a blue and brown rug purchased ! And now to the fun part , my son asked for two blankets to cover his new couch , Blankets ? I don't really do blankets but Quilts I do ! Here is  the first one ready to be pieced !

My Wolves Quilt is making its way over the big pond.....

I made this quilt a little while ago and now packet it up to mail it to my dad . Our last name is Wolf and that's a perfect way to show it. My mom and I both love to cover the couches with quilts and it was time for a new one for my dads side. I have almost finished the one for my mom but will take it with me when I go home to visit .

More things got finished

The Dentist I was working for the last 11 years  decided to close the office Tuesday morning, I was shocked to go from a full time job to being unemployed in just minutes. I know I`m better off for it was no candy licking to work for him. But now I`m off to new adventures and have time to finish some UFO`s and long due pay it forward gifts. here are two things I got done.
I had fun knitting the scarf and will make one for myself .
Love the wall quilt that finally was finished and will also be a gift.

My new Art work

I had signed up for a Quote Challenge by Lesley Riley . My quote was Throw your heart over the fence and the rest will follow by Norman Vincent Peale. This is what I came up with. I decided on a triptych .

I made my three quilts

and wrapped them around the frame

heart appliqued and embellished with sparkles

I love the way it all sparkles and shines at night when I walk by

and look up,, so happy I decided on  wrapping the canvas with it so it looks good from all sides. No it did not make it into the book but it made me HAPPY!

Challenge quilt

I`m making a challenge quilt for the Fastfridayfabricchallenge. The theme is flowers and I remembered that I still had this block from a class I was teaching on applique. While auditioning fabric for a border I found 19 of theses log cabin blocks. They fit perfectly in size and so they just became my border.

But looking at it I noticed that the design was not coming together on the bottom.

I used all the 19 blocks by adding one more row on the bottom and the last one on the top included in the border. I placed some store bought butterflies  but I `m still not sure if I like it that way or change it some more. I just have it hanging for now and keep looking at it till I start quilting it.
This is what I have now,but I`m still undecided if I will use the butterflies on it or just quilt it heavily.

Another UFO finished

I don`t remember how long ago I have made this top but after I was done quilting my friends quilt I decided to quilt this top with the same blue thread. The angels background was quilted with white and it is all just free motion machine quilting.

The finished quilt ,not sure if it will end up on a wall or the table,it is not my style,to plain and primitive,I think it was a design from a Australian quilting magazine and I had added the stars to bring a little more color in. So I will have to find a good new home for it.Maybe it will grow on me?It does look rather sweet on my backyard flower trellis with all the dead vines around it as a backdrop.

Made in the USA

My friend Doris made this quilt top for her nephew in Germany and as always I got  to quilt it.Since this will be used daily and dragged around I just did some stippling.

I did sew and pin the binding so my friend  Doris can sew it and I also left the threads hanging for her because they are my two least favorite things to do.

A small quilt  from my personal collection, first felted and then embroidered.

Birds of color, applique and embroidery, was made  for a quilt swap ,but not enough people had signed up so
it never left my house.I know it will find a place sooner or later.

New Baby Quilt

A quilt for a Baby Boy, I hope my friend Doris will like the finished quilt, she had pieced the top and added the borders. We had bought the fabric last year on a trip to Hays Kansas , now new MOM to be Bethany will receive it tomorrow at her Baby shower.

Fun Backing

I have just finished machine quilting this colorful Baby Quilt.Simple stippling in bright green. I love to do pieced binding and  look at the polka dot fabric as backing, just a fun project. At least something new  to blog about not just cleaning the house with my mom.But we will be back in the Garage to do some more cleaning and organizing. Pictures to follow when my new garage doors are in.
