Easy Snack To Prepare

Pigs in a Blanket. It's one of the snacks/dishes that is so easy to prepare and everybody just loves it. This is especially one of Doink's favourites. It's actually small sausages wrapped in bacon.

All you have to do is cut a sausages in halves or smaller. Wrap a piece of bacon around the sausages, then use a toothpick to hold the bacon and the sausages together. After that, just place the sausages in the oven for about 10 minutes at 180 degrees celcious and it's ready to be served.

Tadah, the pigs are now warm and cosy under the blanket. hehe... and it's time to chew them like you mean it.

Use more bacon to wrap the sausages properly. I was just a bit stingy on the bacon. Hehe... Anyway, big day is coming in just another 4 days time. Will announce it later... Anyone wants to take a wild guess what it is. Have a good weekend anyway!!!

Botak Jones

Burgers, sausages, anything that is meaty will definitely be Doink's favourite. This is what I had with Doink when we were in Singapore. We visited Botak Jones. I heard plenty of good feedback about it so we decided to explore the food there. We walked quite a bit before we finally managed to find the place. To my surprise, Botak Jones is located inside the coffee shop. I thought it was a restaurant with air-conditioner. Don't be surprise when you see loads of people queuing up ordering food. Oh ya, it's self service when it comes to ordering.

We decided to order their most popular burger - The Double Botak. It's supposedly to double the pleasure, double the fun! We added sauteed onions and bacons. We also change the fries to cheesy fries.

The portion was superbly huge and I think this is just nice for 2 person. Anyway, I wouldn't say it's fantastic as I somehow find the burger meat wasn't tasty and the cheese doesn't feel cheesy at all. But the sauteed onions was not bad. As for the cheesy fries, I just had to say that it definitely added an inch to my waistline after consuming that. *lol*

We also ordered Giant Pork Italian Sausage Set. It's a tasty combination of minced pork and spices. It comes with the bun, fries and coleslaw. I absolutely love this sausage. It's so delicious and tasty and you can't get enough of this sausage.

There are so many more other types of food I wanted to try but I guess I don't have a big tummy to try so many dishes. There were dishes like Cajun Chicken, Chargrilled Salmon Fillet, Chilli Dawg, Cajun Chicken Dawg etc. Gosh, getting hungrier now. *lol*

Botak Jones should open an outlet in Malaysia so that I can have it again. Hehe... Anyway, make sure you don't forget to pay Botak Jones a visit if you are in Singapore. And also let me know what other food is nice over there. =)

Chinese New Year Reunion Dinner

The biggest event of Chinese New Year's Eve is the dinner every family will have. Everyone will gather together on this special occasion for the Reunion Dinner. And that's where plenty of dishes will be served.

Here is what I had for my Reunion Dinner. Take note I did not cook any of these dishes. My mom and maid did all the cooking. I'm not that good in Chinese cuisine besides the simple stir fry dishes and boiling soup. *lol*

This is the siew yok (pork belly I think) stir fry with leeks and arrowroot.

Soup with plenty of ingrediants in it. Trust me, the soup is so tasty with whatever that's in it. Not going to name it as I think there are certain things which I'm unsure what it is.

Prawns - my favourite. These prawns are huge and it's absolutely lovely.

Stewed mushrooms with scallops, brocolli and sea cucumber. This is yet another classic Chinese New Year dish which I enjoy a lot.

Duck - not really a fan of it but it tasted not too bad. Btw, this was bought.

Stir Fry Lotus Root - I don't particularly like this dish as I prefer my lotus root to be boiled in soup rather than stir fried. Anyway, in the Chinese New Year tradition, cooking with lotus roots carries the meaning of bonding and strong family ties.

This is one of my mom's specialty which I have no idea what it is called. It's some braised pork with mushroom.

And a dish consisting of fish will definitely appear on the table of every family. Fish in manadarin is 'yu' meaning 'surplus'. Usually the fish is not eaten completely (and the remainder is stored overnight). In the Chinese phrase, this signifies "may there be surpluses every year". However, my mom will fry an extra fish every year to be kept in the freezer. Therefore we can finish the fish that is served on the table.

There were seriously plenty of food for the night. I was totally stuffed. Just look at the amount of dishes which was served that night.

Now that's one of the reasons why I don't really cook chinese cuisine. This is because I get it so often and what more my mom is a better cook than I am. Hehe...
Anyway, still got another few more days to go before the end of the 15 days of Celebration. Therefore wishing everyone a good celebration before the end of it.
