For a long time I have wanted to learn to do needleturn applique, and been an admirer of Kim McLeans quilts, and was lucky enough to get into one of her classes at the Taupo {NZ} Symposium last year. Had a lovely day learning to do needleturn and admiring Kims quilts"in the flesh" as it were, and being glad that I hadn't jumped in the deep end by trying Pandemonium first up!
And twelve months later here is the reult of that day, I have so much enjoyed making this top, which is off to be quilted soon. Oh, the outer border has since been added. The hardest part was cutting and joining all the 2 1/2" square, some dont quite match, but they are my Amish pieces. I have no idea what will happen when it is finally finished, probably join all my other quilts stacked on beds and chairs around the house!

lollipop tree block #2

prepped and ready to stitch.

I had made such a mess with the first one, I figured, why not continue?
This one went much faster, and I thought much less about the fabrics, fussy cutting and placement.
Much more fun and much more relaxing that way.

These trees are addictive and fun to make, but alas, I tidied up so I can begin stitching on tree #.  Don't think it will take long before I begin on number 3....

Lollypop Trees

It's a long time I haven't published anything... but I was reading your posts:)

To be honnest, I prefer to knit during the cold months of the year... and to sew during the warm months! So I'm back and nothing can stop me!!!

Block n°1 finished

and block n°2 in progress...

What I love with this quilt it's like a coloring book where I can chose the colors I want!

block 5

I was truly shocked to find i didn't post since early january. But here it is, my block #5.
For the leaves i used what is mostly used as a background. But since my background is this nice red, i figured i would use my 'background' fabrics in a different way. So far, i do like where this is taking me, but still very anxious to see the outcome because i still don't know where i am heading.
I also like my sometimes quirky circles, doing them the needleturn way. I feel it fits the playfullness of the quilt to be.
Have fun.
