When Life Gives You Lemons . . .

Make lemonade!

That's exactly what I did here with this "Long and Short of It" 4x9 card for CAS-ual Fridays Challenge # 13:

Supplies:

• Cricut "Just Because" cartridge for the glass of lemonade, straw and lemon wedge
• White Georgia Pacific cardstock for base; red, white, yellow and blue cardstock from my scraps
• "When life gives you lemons . . ." typed on PC using Coffee Milk Crazy font from Free Font Fun  (Thank you Lauren! She used this on her butterfly birthday projects for a recent post and I LOVE it!)
• "God won't bring you to it...If he can't get you through it!"sentiment on inside from Scrappy Moms' Designers Choice stamp set (Had to sneak one in! :))
• Icicle Stickles for sugar on the glass rim and lemon wedge
• Stampin' Up scallop trim border punch

This card is actually for a friend of mine who just found out a couple of weeks ago that one of her 16-year old twin boys has Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD). The shock is just slowly starting to set in. At this point, her son has 100% function of his kidneys, but PKD is a disease that will be life-changing for this family as it will always be with him and currently has no cure. His diet has been severely changed, he is on medication that he has had trouble adjusting to, and he has to refrain from most physical activity. That is tough for a rough-and-tumble teen-aged boy who loves sports! My dear friend also battled breast cancer 6 years ago, so she is definitely feeling like lemons are being handed to her in her life. If you are of the praying kind, please pray for this family. God will know who! :)

You're Golden! for Scrappy Moms' TTC

How cool IS THIS:

A good work friend of mine treated me to a belated birthday lunch this week and got me this amazing wall word art!! I just think this is awesome! I now have to find the perfect place to hang it to inspire me on a daily basis.

And of course to properly thank my good friend and to also participate in the current Scrappy Moms' Terrific Tuesday Challenge, I made this card:

• All cardstock (used scraps) and patterned paper from Stampin' Up

• Stampin' Up ticket corner punch
• "You're Golden" sentiment from Scrappy Moms Sun Kissed stamp set
• "Thank You" and "Sweet Friend" from Scrappy Moms' Simple Sentiments stamp set (did not ink up exclamation point - added comma with marker)
• Scrappy Moms' Honeydew baker's twine
• Yellow(painted on the peach), lime green and cinnamon Stickles glitter glue

This Scrappy Moms' Terrific Tuesday challenge was to use the Cricut Preserves cartridge, but I don't own that one so Just Because served this purpose.

 Here's something else I thought I'd share:

I own all of the Scrappy Moms' bakers twine colors (think I like them a little bit???), but was having a tough time keeping them organized. I saw in the 7/12/11 Chirp newsletter's "Your Notable Tip" section and it showed this idea for twine storage. I ended up making tags from the Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge (err, actually my oldest daughter made them), wrapped the twine around, and then attached them to an old key ring. I love it! It made adding the twine to today's card very easy.

And speaking of Scrappy Moms, they released 2 new stamp sets yesterday! And guess who has them on order already (insert sinister giggle here)! Here they are:

We're Nuts About You Father's Day Cards 2011

It's Father's Day already - yikes! And it happens to be my birthday today! I received an e-card from a local radio station this morning and it said, "Growing old is mandatory, but growing up is optional." Got that right!

So sorry for the long delay in posts! I have been crafting, but just haven't gotten them posted. I've been flying by the seat of my pants with getting cards made for all of the events that have occurred lately. I figured today would be a good day to get back into action, though, and post my Father's day cards.

These cards were made using the 'Nuts About You' phrase and squirrel from Cricut's Just Because Cards cartridge. And of course, I had to bling them up a bit and avoid cutting those TINIE TINY pieces for the nuts by using Cinnamon and Platinum Stickles. And then some Scrappy Mom's Cappuccino Bakers Twine and a wiggly eye for my squirrel finished these cards off.

Well, about to head to church. Enjoy your day everyone! Hopefully it will be spent enjoying the wonderful Dads in your life. And then maybe some crafting?? :)
