I finished the waffle scarf for 364 yards out! Nothing in.I've been cold sheeping for 63 days!
I forgot to post my comparison chart last Friday. I have one more yarn club package coming in April which is already on the chart. Hopefully the chart won't look much different by the end of the year.

I've made it 60 days without buying yarn!
Last night I charted out how much yarn I've used each month this year. Not pretty. If I keep knitting at this rate, I will need to cold sheep for a long, long time before I use up my current yarn stash.
My February Yarn Club package came this week, so 270 yards added to my total. It's The Woolen Rabbit Sporty in the colorway Zelda. It's a gorgeous red-purple color, but difficult to catch in pictures.
I have not bought yarn in 56 days! Next week I will earn the 60 day badge. I'm so excited. Who would have thunk I could make it this long?!?! C'mon, you can tell me if you had a secret pool going. lol
I hope to record some yardage out next week if I can finish my scarf.

No change from last week's report. There was a small victory though. The Loopy Ewe blogged about their next challenge, and I wasn't even tempted to buy anything. I've gone 49 days without buying yarn!
The yarn club package should be arriving next week. Hubby hasn't made one comment about the lack of "boxes of fun" or other yarny packages in the last month and a half. We'll see if he says anything when the yarn club package arrives.
My favorite pattern released this week is Chloe (Ravelry link, photo from Amy Miller's project page). I absolutely love this cable design! Sadly, the pattern is designed with 15 inches of ease which will look like a tent on me. I still may buy ithe pattern though and create something in CustomFit that would look more appealing on me.

I finished my Meriboo cowl for the Ravellenics games which used 140 yards. Plus it was leftover yarn from a another project so it was a double WIN. Gotta love those quick projects!
Can you believe it's been 42 days since I bought yarn?!?! I am so excited! The first month was tough, but it's getting easier. I think not getting something in the mail was the hardest part. The anticipation of when will it get here? Who doesn't love getting something besides junk mail or bills in the mail? I will have one skein of yarn coming in February from a yarn club. It was already paid for last year so while it will add to my yardage total, it will not break my no buy streak.

I made it! I've beat my previous record of 31 days without buying yarn! I'm not done yet either! My official count is 35 days without buying yarn.
I am still working on Dianthe so nothing to count out there. Hopefully I'll be able to count my Ravellenic cowl out in the near future.
In my previous post (On the Needles), I mentioned how slowly the yarn stash seems to go OUT, compared to how quickly it adds up when it comes IN. I was looking at my numbers, and I've only actually KNIT 559 yards so far this year. That is pretty sad, especially since I AM knitting quite a bit. A nice reminder that I don't NEED any more yarn.
The other day I was wondering if there was a certain month(s) that I bought more yarn. I came up with this chart based on my stash in Ravelry. For those of you who may not know, you can download an Excel spreadsheet* of your stash. (*Provided you have all of your stash entered into Ravelry.) I sorted it by date so I could do a comparison by year. Not that big of a surprise that the warm, summer months I buy less yarn. The funny thing is I thought I had been doing fairly well not buying last year until November. Boy was I wrong! Apparently I was buying all year long. I'm going to keep this updated throughout the year and post it at the end of each month.

My numbers haven't changed this week. I have used 1.5 skeins on my current project, but I won't count that until the project is finished. So far I'm holding strong on not buying any yarn (despite someone's attempt at enabling this year....you know who you are). It's been 28 days since I last bought yarn! If I can get past Monday, I'll have beat my personal record of 31 days without buying yarn.

This week I've been looking at and planning potential yarn purchases for BlueSand (Ravelry link) Cardigan and Mango Smoothie pullover.

I finished the Berry Thumbkin mittens this week which used 129 yards. (It really seemed like it used more than that. Funny how quickly it adds up when I bring it IN the house, but how slowly it adds up when I knit it.) Nothing new in although the new Madelinetosh colors at Eat.Sleep.Knit have been calling to me. I'm holding strong so far.

One new sweater pattern called out to me this week but I haven't bought it. Brianna is a top-down, seamless pullover loaded with cables and texture.
I finished Packer Baktus so I get to count 430 yards used this week.
No yarn has come in, nor has any been ordered! I hate to say I was tempted after I finished my shawl, but I did not give in to that temptation. It's been 14 days since I last ordered yarn. Baby steps!
I'm still waiting for my second Miss Babs package to arrive from December but that was counted in last year's report. The skeins didn't match so they are dyeing a new batch for me. How sweet is that?!?!

I mentioned last week that I would have some new yarn this week. This is my Eat.Sleep.Knit purchase to help Team RoboKnits. Unfortunately it seems other teams have taken the task to heart as well because we are currently in last place.
From left to right: Sweet Georgia Tough Love Sock in Glacier, Numma Numma Toasty in Fire Roasted, Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock in The "L", and two skeins of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Worsted in Berry. The Shepherd Worsted will be used for my Eat.Sleep.Knit Q1 KAL challenge - try something new. I'm going to try knitting mittens. The rest of the yarn will be used for cowls or scarves.

Here we are at the beginning of a new year. That means we get to set out totals back to zero. I will be counting yarn as "used" only when I finish a project. Since skein yardage varies so much depending on the weight, my totals will be measured by yards rather than number of skeins.
I had destashed two sweater quantities of Madelinetosh Erin for a total of 2880 yards out! Nothing in (yet).
Yes, you read right. I had every intention of staying away from The Loopy Ewe's rewards and Eat.Sleep.Knit's yarnathon this year. Then Eat.Sleep.Knit decided they would have GROUPS where each group could win additional "yards or prizes" depending on how their group does. I am part of the "RoboKnits" group. Not to mention they have a quarterly KAL (knit-along) so I felt obligated to help the team out. Even though I did buy yarn, I contained myself and will still be in the black next week!
