POE-A-TREE HOP

What does the light of one candle mean to you?

DIXITQUE DEUS FAIT LUX ET FACTA EST LUX ~”And said God let there be light and, there was light.

In India, we are still amidst Diwali celebrations. Yesterday was 'Bhai Dhoj'...a ritual highlighting the bond and the relationship between a brother and his sister. This is though not celebrated in South India.
Am now in my home town and happy to be here for the festival among family and friends and so to me....light is...joy,
             happiness,
             love and
             hope.
Preparations for the festival begins a month before with people repainting and refurnishing their homes. Basically, the old gives way for the new...but, this does not apply to spouse, kids, parents and immediate family.

Buying gifts, making various kinds of sweets and savories, new clothes and jewellery...are an integral part of the celebration.

The bursting of crackers has decreased considerably with the awareness on pollution and the harm it causes, yet we burst some for the sake of the kids.

The sacred Tulsi/Basil plant adorned with diyas...the earthen lamps.
It is family time....

The story behind Diwali being celebrated varies from region to region, yet the essence is the same- to enjoy the inner light.

"Just as the treasures are uncovered from the earth,so virtue appears from good deeds and wisdom appears from a pure and peaceful mind. To walk safely through the maze of human life, one needs the light of wisdom and the guidance of virtue." - Buddha.

A VIEW FROM MY WINDOW

A single photo, no words- capturing a simple or an extraordinary moment. A moment I want to cherish and remember.

“This Moment” is a ritual found on the Life Inspired by the Wee Man adopted from soulemama, introduced to me by my fellow bloggers.

If you find yourself touched by a moment, and would like to participate, post your picture on a Friday and leave your link in the comment section of my blog.

NIRVANA

The dense white cloak
Blankets the view
Masking the beauty
Cold, grey with
Muted stupor,
Quaintly enticing.
The Golden ray
From above lifts
The veil
To reveal the splendour
And the true Nature.
Isn’t it true of ourselves?
Easy hiding in the
Dark, it is the light
We seek.

dVerse Poets Pub ~OpenLinkNight - Week 15

R V TALK'G???

Apples, Blackberries & Smart phones,
We have them all
The world today in our palm
Yet, we are so removed
And switched off from
One another
From communication
Where Silence is the void
Silence is that voice
That says 'let me be'
People have never been
So busy...as they pretend to be.

IS GOODNESS GOOD?

When we do some thing right, we feel good.

When we help someone when they least expect it, we feel good.

Remembering the little things about others, making them feel special and cherished, bringing a smile on their face, appreciating them, encouraging them and leaving them alone when they need 'space'...oh! so many things to feel good about.

What if this goodness of ours is taken for granted?

Dad stays alone...mostly. And we know our neighbors for ages. By inherent nature, dad is good, helpful and considerate. He will go out of his way to help others even if it inconveniences him.

It so happened that our immediate neighbor was renovating their house and they needed a place to dump their unwanted 'stuff' and our open balcony (which we seldom use) served their purpose just fine and dad even allowed them to.

The renovation has long been completed, but their 'things' are still lying on our balcony.

I am very particular about cleanliness and keeping this in mind, dad asked them to remove those things before I went home visiting.

Even after three reminders, they haven't removed their things.

Should we still be good and let them take advantage of it or should we be firm and persuade them to clean up?

Will we be tagged bad or insensitive if we point out others' callousness?

Will you put up with such behavior from others?

PERFECT POET AWARD WEEK 54

WOW! A perfect poet award for me?
It is really difficult to sink in....so, I will let this float about me. My first award and will be the most cherished one.

The Poetry Palace has awarded me this one for my last week's post...THE FLIGHT.

Feeling honored.

My today's post is - CHOICES

Was this a choice or fate?
Is this a mistake? Or
Have I been ever so right?

Do I see what I want to?
Or is this the reality?
The destiny’s cue?

These tiny voices in my head
Are they my doubts?
Or my heart saying me “You are true."

When faced with a choice
One right another wrong
Will I ever know the other was wrong?

Should I seek the answers?
Or should I let it be?
Go with the flow and
Wonder what ‘life’ could be?

I have to nominate one person and it is Brain Miller whom I know from dVerse Poets Pub...an awesome poet himself. The others in the group are just as great and it is humbling to know I am ranked among them.

Thank you all and here's for more. Cheers!

Indibloggers - Dove.....LOVE IS A TWO WAY STREET: LOVE YOUR HAIR IT LOVES YOU BACK

With the launch of new Dove Nourishing Oil Care Range, Dove and Indiblogger present the "Love your hair and it loves you back" contest.

A LOVE TRIANGLE

Long, straight and silky
Owner’s pride – my crowning glory
Every woman’s identity -
On my hips, you would sway.

You were a tease, to the boys
When I twirled the locks, seemingly coy
In the sun, you glistened
Which guys want’d to touch & smoothen

He loved me more, cos’ of you
He was cross as I cropped you
I evolved and so I felt the need
To change you and style you

Short, chic and savvy
Full of bounce and volume
Have never felt so groovy
A happy love triangle- you, me and Dove.
