R.I.P. ROB & MICHELE REINER
Last night, Rob and Michele Reiner were stabbed to death by their son, Nick.
Rob met Michele while making the 1989 classic 'When Harry Met Sally…' Michele was a photographer and occasional actress, and they met on a double date arranged by the movie’s cinematographer, Barry Sonnenfeld.
While 'When Harry Met Sally...' ends with the eponymous best friends finding love together, the original ending wasn’t as happy. “It was going to be the two of them seeing each other after years, talking and then walking away from each other,” Rob Reiner said in a 2024 interview. In many ways, this not-so-happy ending was truer to Reiner’s own experiences in love.
“I had been married for 10 years. I’d been single for 10 years, and I couldn’t figure out how I was ever going to be with anybody, and that gave birth to When Harry Met Sally…” Reiner said.
But meeting Michele changed all that.

JANE GOODALL HAS PASSED AWAY
Jane Goodall, the world’s foremost expert on chimpanzees whose work was captured in more than 40 documentaries, has died. She was 91.
“The greatest danger to our future is apathy.”
“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
“We have the choice to use the gift of our life to make the world a better place--or not to bother”
“The least I can do is speak out for those who cannot speak for themselves.”
“Change happens by listening and then starting a dialogue with the people who are doing something you don't believe is right. ”
“Every individual matters. Every individual has a role to play. Every individual makes a difference.”
“Here we are, the most clever species ever to have lived. So how is it we can destroy the only planet we have?”
“We have so far to go to realize our human potential for compassion, altruism, and love.”
“Each one of us matters, has a role to play, and makes a difference. Each one of us must take responsibility for our own lives, and above all, show respect and love for living things around us, especially each other.”
“We can't leave people in abject poverty, so we need to raise the standard of living for 80% of the world's people, while bringing it down considerably for the 20% who are destroying our natural resources.”
“Hope is often misunderstood. People tend to think that it is simply passive wishful thinking: I hope something will happen but I’m not going to do anything about it. This is indeed the opposite of real hope, which requires action and engagement.”
“Lasting change is a series of compromises. And compromise is all right, as long your values don't change.”
“It is these undeniable qualities of human love and compassion and self-sacrifice that give me hope for the future. We are, indeed, often cruel and evil. Nobody can deny this. We gang up on each one another, we torture each other, with words as well as deeds, we fight, we kill. But we are also capable of the most noble, generous, and heroic behavior.”
“Of course, a great deal of our onslaught on Mother Nature is not really lack of intelligence but a lack of compassion for future generations and the health of the planet: sheer selfish greed for short-term benefits to increase the wealth and power of individuals, corporations and governments. The rest is due to thoughtlessness, lack of education, and poverty. In other words, there seems to be a disconnect between our clever brain and our compassionate heart. True wisdom requires both thinking with our head and understanding with our heart.”
“I don't have any idea of who or what God is. But I do believe in some great spiritual power. I feel it particularly when I'm out in nature. It's just something that's bigger and stronger than what I am or what anybody is. I feel it. And it's enough for me.”

JONATHAN JOSS WAS KILLED ON SUNDAY
Police say the unidentified neighbor whipped out a gun and pumped several bullets into the actor before fleeing in a vehicle. Officers responded to a call of a shooting in progress and received a description of the car.
Cops say the officers captured the suspect a block from the residence, taking him into custody.
Meanwhile, paramedics raced to the scene and provided medical assistance, but they were unable to save the victim, who was pronounced dead.
Detectives are now talking to witnesses to figure out what triggered the violence.
Joss was the voice of John Redcorn in "King of the Hill." He also landed a big part in "Parks and Recreation" as Chief Ken Hotate. And he had small roles in TV shows such as "Tulsa King," "Ray Donovan," and films like "True Grit" and "The Magnificent Seven."
Our hearts go out to his family and friends. Wow what a tragedy.
LORETTA SWIT PASSED AWAY
Loretta Swit, who won two Emmy Awards playing Major Margaret Houlihan, the demanding head nurse of a behind-the-lines surgical unit during the Korean War on the pioneering hit TV series “M.A.S.H.,” has died. She was 87.
Swit died Friday at her home in New York City, likely from natural causes, publicist Harlan Boll said.
Swit and Alan Alda were the longest-serving cast members on “M.A.S.H.,” which was based on Robert Altman’s 1970 film, which was itself based on a novel by Richard Hooker, the pseudonym of H. Richard Hornberger

PETER DAVID HAS PASSED AWAY
Aww, man... PETER DAVID, one of the greatest Comic Book writers, has passed away at the age of 68!
His lasting impact on Comic Books is insane, giving us classic moments and characters such as:
-The EPIC run of INCREDIBLE HULK, which was amazing entertaining and funny! It was full of action, comedy, and provided a spotlight for RICK JONES.
-The classic Wolverine vs Hulk fight in Incredible Hulk #340, drawn by Todd McFarlane
-THE MAESTRO, the evil future Hulk first seen in 'Hulk: Future Imperfect'
-An epic run of AQUAMAN, where he lost hist hand and replaced it with a hook, grew out a beard and long hair. I picked up the omnibus this past Christmas!
-Another long run with SUPERGIRL, which transformed the character in ways I didn't anticipate.
-SPIDER-MAN 2099!!
-CAPTAIN MARVEL (Gen ). This was a fun run, with David taking the Marvel Lynch Pin RICK JONES into really fun cosmic adventures.
-The super fun YOUNG JUSTICE run, which teamed up Superboy, Robin and Impulse.
-The government-run incarnation of X-FACTOR, which re-introduced us to MADROX The Multipie man and STRONG GUY.
-MADROX needs to be mentioned again. David took a then-C-list character and gave him personality and awesme run of X-FACTOR, where he and team act as Private Eyes. It' has classic Peter David humor and entertainment.
