Here's what I've been working on lately.  We are finally starting to thaw out here in Massachusetts.  Could Spring really be on its way!?  Have a great day.  Thank you for stopping by.

More Stuff

I've spent some long hours in the studio the past few days and have started a bunch of new paintings.  Now it's time to start finishing them off.  :)

Have a great day!

Hanging Christmas Holly

"Hanging Christmas Holly"
8" x 5"
watercolor on paper
starting bid:  $65

I'm teaching a 5-week class at Workshop13 in Ware, beginning tomorrow night and while I had described a "country Christmas still life" as the painting we would be tackling, I hadn't yet painted it --  Yeow!  So last week I started the still life below, hoping that we could paint that - but it's way too complicated.  So today (double-YEOW!)  I decided on just this sprig of holly dangling from a nail on one of my interior doors.  It's still quite challenging, but very doable.

"Redware and Berries" - wip
6" x 6"
watercolor on paper

So for the next few days I'll be trying to finish up "Redware and Berries" and some others.  I need to work on some smaller paintings again and get them up on DPW -- it's been a while.  I guess this is a start.  :)

Thank you for viewing my work.

Happy Fourth of July!

"Berries and  Cherries II"
6.4" x 5.75"
watercolor on paper
SOLD

I thought this painting a very fitting image for the Fourth of July, what with all it's red, white and blue . . . Happy Independence Day! I've posted my progress shots below in case you missed them before -- and just because I think it looks cool to click on them and watch the painting change before your very eyes!  :)

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day!

Another Progress Shot . . . and Rejection

Just thought I'd share this shot of my progress on these 3 paintings. Also, I entered "A Moments Rest" in the Academic Artists Association's show and was rejected. You just never know. So if you're a beginner out there (most of us who've been doing this for a while know already) -- you just can't get down or take it personally if you get rejected from a juried show -- it happens to all of us at one time or another and I've definitely had my fair share . . . with many more to come I'm sure.

I've included a couple shots of "A Moment's Rest" all framed up because I thought it came out really well.

Have a great day!

Berries and Cherries

"Berries and Cherries"
6.3" x 9"
(watercolor on paper)
SOLD

How can something so heavenly to eat, be so hellish to paint? I keep painting strawberries and after each one is done, I think "that's the last time I'm going to do that!" Yet, I do it again. This actually isn't a great photo of this painting, but you get the idea.

Thanks for stopping by.  Happy painting!

Call Me Ishmael

Nantucket Basket - detail

Yes . . . it's official . . . I've totally lost my mind. Not one, but two white whales . . . a nantucket basket AND a strawberry?  Come on!

I truly have been working -- it's just slow-going. And I think I'm experiencing some kind of severe OCD seizure or something. So please be patient, while the Pequod keeps plugging along.  :)

Have a great day!
