Pricilla and Sassafras

Well hey…..s’been a while since my last post here but I have a good reason. I’ve been hanging out with Pricilla and her pet snail, Sassafras. She’s told me many stories about their big adventures. They truly are world travelers don’t ‘cha know. On planes, ships and trains, they’ve seen a lot of places. Oh the stories I’ve heard.

As you can see, their story is being told through this latest piece called
“Pricilla’s Amazing Adventures”.

I will submit it for nex
t months Thematic exhibit “Across the Great Divide” in hopes of making it into the show. Wish me luck, K? The globe is a thrift store find…Vintage bookends! Can you believe that? Yup, nabbed both of them. Couldn't pass ‘em up. The globes are about the size of a softball. No, slightly smaller, about the size of an orange or a small grapefruit. They were hollow so I pulled out my trusty Dremel and sliced one in half. Hawt dang, just what I needed.

Had no idea how to go about putting it all together (yup, the serendipity of creating is bliss). Visions in the ol’ noggin were swirling and crashing into each other trying to bring something to life. And finally, Pricilla and Sassafras were created. This is a three part deal here. “So ya got this globe see. Now ho
w are ya gonna stand it open?” Aw man! Didn't see that one comin’. I brain stormed with my buddy, Greg and got some good pointers. Posed the question to Deb over at the Frank Bette Gallery and got the answer, rings!

I ran with that idea and lo and behold.

But I couldn't stop there. Pricilla and Sassafras needed their own display. I gussied it up with travel decals to bring all the pieces together. The whole piece is 7” long x 3 1/4”deep x 7” high.

And so it was, Pricilla and her pet snail are off
on another adventure to see the rest of the world.

I’m sure they’ll have many new stories in the coming months.
