Tight Bunch

"Tight Bunch"
10" x 10" Oil on Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
Lately we have had fresh floral arrangements in the studio.  I decided that these white roses were needing to be painted!  This is a bird's eye view of the compact arrangement.  Green is a challenge for me, and I mixed and mixed so many greens and greys for this painting.  This painting is drying in the studio, will be framed up and ready for a new home soon.  Thanks for looking at my art.  Kay

Fancy and Frilly

Fancy and Frilly
16" x 16" Oil and Silver Leaf on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Still Life
One of the benefits of having studio mates is sharing.  One of my painting buddies came to the studio with a beautiful bouquet of heirloom roses.   We both painted them.   They were homegrown old fashioned roses full of color, and delicate petals.  They were stunning, and I wanted to paint them on silver leaf, giving them a dressed-up look.  This painting is drying in the studio.  Thanks for looking at my blog!  Contact Kay for more info on Fancy and Frilly.  KMW

Oh Happy Day!

Oh Happy Day!
18" x 36" Oil on Heavy Duty Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Still Life Painting
My favorite canvas shape is the square, but I really like the canvas I picked for this horizontal still life.  The vase of flowers is intentionally off-center.  The bouquet fills the canvas and is spilling over the edges, implying that the bouquet is full and over-flowing.  I used the palette knife on most of this painting.  The canvas has plenty of texture and color.  I focused on lavenders and greens and greys and mixed piles and piles of oils when I painted this.  Thanks for looking at this blog....Kay

Roses Galore

Roses Galore
36" x 36" Oil on Gallery Wrap Canvas
Contemporary Floral Still Life
Lots of painting, scraping, painting and knife work went into this contemporary still life painting.  Layers of oil were applied with a brush, followed by a palette knife scraping and cutting into the paint.  This floral is available and would brighten up any wall!  Contact Kay Wyne for more information on this original oil.  Thanks, KMW

Tight Bunch

Tight Bunch
8" x 8" Oil on Museum Quality Panel
Contemporary Still Life
I lost my momentum on this small painting...I started it a month ago, and lost interest.  But I did put finishing touches on it yesterday in the studio.  I painted it from a small floral bouquet from our local florist.  The pale yellow rose was getting crowded by the red and pink roses.  I hope you all are well, and abiding by the stay at home rules that are in place.  Have an artful day, Kay

Just For You

Just For You
6" x 6" Oil on Linen Panel
Alla Prima
Contemporary Still Life
I have been on a floral still life kick lately in the studio.  Here's yesterday's painting, and it is super wet.  I piled on the oils, pushing and pulling the thick paint over the smooth linen surface.  I have a beautiful frame for this one...contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay

Lovely and Alive

Lovely and Alive
8" x 8" Oil on Cotton RayMar Panel
Contemporary Floral Still Life
I worked on several painting in the studio yesterday, and after I got bored with them, I pulled out a new panel and painted away.  Using a new #8 Bright Brush and all the left-over paint on my palette, I started a floral still life. The oils were mixed, and I was able to pull this one off alla prima.  My first attempt was spontaneous and lively.  I did not go back into the paint once I laid it on the canvas...this painting is very wet, and once it dries I can't wait to put a frame on it.  Thanks for looking at my blog...contact Kay for more info on my art.  Kay

Farewell...all framed up!

Farewell
Canvas size:  22" x 28"
Framed size:  28" x 34"
Contemporary Palette Knife Painting
I decided that this floral needed to be framed up.  So here is a pic of the painting with the frame.  It dresses it up.  Piles of oil paint were on my palette, and with one palette knife I covered the canvas with a baker's dozen of roses.  I mixed my colors so that every layer of paint would be in harmony with the next layer.  There are small specs of rose, red, and turquoise spicing up the painting, but for the most part greys, lavenders and greens, and naples yellow dominate.  Contact Kay Wyne for purchasing info.  Thanks, Kay

Roses For Charlie

Roses For Charlie

10" x 10" Oil on Museum Quality Panel
Contemporary Still Life
I painted this still life on Tuesday, after receiving the new that my father passed away.  As I painted, memories came to me, and although I am sad that he is gone, I know he is not suffering any longer.  Click here if you would like to read Charlie's obituary.  Dad has always been one of my biggest supporter and fans of my art, so I painted this one for him.  Thank you for looking at my blog...Kay

Thank you to Pam Massar at Dutch Art Gallery in Dallas for giving this still life a forever home.  It was custom framed and now a companion to one of my other florals in a new home!  I remember painting this one, and experimenting with a new color---it was Carribean Blue by Old Holland.  I always have that color out on my palette.  (It's the background color.)  Thanks for looking at my blog...Kay

Roses For You

Roses For You
10" x 10" Oil on Cotton Panel
Contemporary Still Life
On Saturday I struggled with this painting and thought it was going to be one for the trash.  I was able to make major adjustments, and pulled it out.  At one point the vase was a cylinder, and I added pieces of color in the vase to jazz it up.  This painting is drying in the studio.  Contact Kay for more info.  Thanks for looking at my blog.  Kay
