Fathers & Daughters Wedding Page

Hi Friends! It's been a crazy spring & early summer but I did have a chance to sit down and work on this page from my daughter's wedding. I loved the song my husband and daughter danced to "Fathers & Daughters", so I wanted to include them on their dance page.

All of the supplies from this page are from the Felicity Jane Kate kit & I printed the lyrics directly on the cardstock using my wide-carriage Canon printer.

Have A Wonderful Day!!

Taylored Expressions: Sneak Peek Day #3 ~ Wedded Bliss Tutorial

Hello Friends and welcome to Day #3 of the Taylored Expressions August Release Sneak Peeks!  I sure love this week!!!

Today I am highlighting this gorgeous new Damask Embossing Folder on my wedding card.  I just LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this embossing folder!  I can already think of many amazing uses for it!  The photo below shows it embossed on Sugar Cube Cardstock... I hope you can see it well.  Click on the photo to enlarge the view, if needed.  I also used the Notable Blooms and In & Out Wedding stamp sets along with the new TE Sugar Cube Pigment Ink!  BEST WHITE INK ON THE MARKET!!!

I have a tutorial below... take a peek on how I made my card and colored my flowers!

Card Assembly:
Step 1: Cut Toffee cardstock 4 ¼” x 11” & score at 5 ½”

Step 2: Trim Cupcake cardstock 4 ¼” x 5 ½” & trim with the largest scallop frame from the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate Dies.  Attach frame to Toffee card base.

Step 3: Trim a piece of Sugar Cube Cardstock 4 ¼” x 5 ½” & trim with the largest scallop frame from the Frame in Frame 2 Cutting Plate Dies.   Take the inside piece and emboss it using the Damask Embossing Folder.  Attach to card base, inside the Cupcake Scallop Frame, using foam adhesive.

Step 4: Stamp sentiment using Sugar Cube Pigment Ink on Cupcake Cardstock.  Heat emboss with white embossing powder.

Step 5: Trim the sentiment with the Stitched Banner Stacklet and trim the ends so it fits inside the frame.  Attach to the card base.

Step 6: On watercolor paper, stamp the smallest flower from the Notable Blooms stamp set using Sugar Cube Pigment Ink and heat emboss with white embossing powder.   Trim with coordinating dies.

Here's how I colored the flowers:

Step 1: Using the Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers, add Mid Green and Olive Green ink to the leaves.  Leave some white space for blending.  NOTE: If I have multiple flowers to color, I usually like to color one complete flower first to make sure it turns out the way I like it.

Step 2:  Next I use a water brush to blend the two shades of green together.  NOTE: You won’t need much water to do this because the area is very small.  If you get too much water, dab it with a paper towel, let it dry for a few minutes and add more color to the area.

Step 3: Add Yellow & Bright Yellow to the center of the flower and blend with the water brush.

Step 4: Add Light Pink to each flower petal – make sure to leave some white space for blending.

Step 5: Next add Sugared Almond Pink to each flower petal.

Step 6: Finally, add Tea Rose Pink to each flower petal and then blend with a water brush. NOTE: If you want more of one color, just add it from the marker and blend again with the water brush.  I find it helpful to have a paper towel handy to dab excess water off my water brush.

And this is the end result.  I added some glitter to the center of each flower and then attached them to the corners of the sentiment.

Taylored Expressions & Therm O Web Team Up!

Welcome to a Wonderful Wednesday and a fun post with Taylored Expressions and Therm O Web! These two great companies are teaming up this week to share loads of fun projects from the design teams.  Here's a little peek at my project!

Check out both company blogs for all the fun details!

For my card, I used the Rosy Posey Stamp set and stamped the image in gold ink and then colored it with my Zig Clean Color Watercolor Markers.    For the background I used the coordinating Rosy Posey Embossing Folder and then lightly added gold ink to the raised image.   For the sentiment, I used the Congrats Script die, added adhesive using Therm O Web's Deco Foil Adhesive Pen and then added Champagne Deco Foil and ran it through my die cutting machine... easy peasy!!

Here's another close up of my card.

We invite you to visit each blog this week for your chance to win some amazing prizes! All of the details and blog lists can be found on both the Taylored Expressions and Therm O Web blogs.

I also played along with this week's Share Joy Challenge #36!  Here's the challenge graphic... & you can check out the challenge HERE.

Wedding Gift Card Holder...

Hey There ~ it's wedding season around here and I wanted to share a fun way to dress up a gift card for the special day.  The wonderful sentiments and cake image are all from the Swingin' Summer set by Gourmet Rubber Stamps.  And the pretty paper is from My Minds Eye (Miss Caroline Fiddlesticks collection).

Directions for Gift Card Bag:

  1. Cut 2" off the top of white bag with scallop scissors for a decorative edge
  2. Cut light purple cardstock the width of the bag (3 3/4") & use a scallop edge punch to create a decorative edge.
  3. Cut a piece of darker purple cardstock and a piece of pattern paper for layers.
  4. Wrap ribbon around the bag and create a bow with some twine and a matching button.
  5. Stamp the wedding cake image in coordinating pattern paper (you'll want to make sure the pattern on this paper is small because of the detail on the wedding cake image).
  6. Trim the wedding cake image, color the flowers on the cake and add some clear gems attach the cake to the bag with foam dots.
  7. Stamp a sentiment on the light purple cardstock and attach it to the bag with foam dots.
Directions for Gift Card Holder:

  1. Using the same colors of cardstock and pattern paper, cut a piece light purple cardstock for the gift card holder 4" x 6".  Along the 6" side, score the cardstock at 1 1/2" & 4".
  2. Cut a piece of dark purple cardstock 4" x 2".  Using an edge punch, punch out a scallop edge and attach it to the top flap.
  3. Add pattern paper to the top and bottom flaps of the gift card holder.
  4. Add pom-pom trim on top flap.
  5. Stamp sentiment and punch out with an oval punch and punch out a decorative mat in the darker purple cardstock and attach to the top flap.
  6. Attach magnet enclosure to the inside top & bottom flaps.

Unconventional Wedding Package...

Hey Peeps ~ Hope your weekend was fabulous!  Just popping in today to show you a wedding package I put together that we went to this weekend.  I was shopping at Target last week and I couldn't find gift bags that I liked; however, I did find these gorgeous bags and decided they were bright and pretty ...so what the heck!  Then I came home and made these cards to go along with the gift bags.

I used this pretty wildflower set from Hero Arts and stamped it twice ~ once in a bright orange and once in a bright pink just over the top of the orange.  Then I added the sentiments from some Gourmet Rubber Stamps sets.  Easy Peasy!

A quick little punched out butterfly with gems added the perfect touch to this card.

Gotta love a 5-minute gift card!  Tip: Always buy your gift bags first and then make a matching card ~ the recipient will think you're brilliant!

i{heart}papers ... Challenge Day

Well...there's a story behind this post...LITERALLY!  Our challenge for today is to make a project based on a story.   The book I selected was the classic fairytale ~ Cinderella.   My project is all about the last line of the story, "...and they lived happily ever after."  ~ which means there was a wedding at the end of the story!

So with the story picked, I decided to make a wedding ensemble.  I started by pulling out the stamp set by Our Craft Lounge called Bird & Groom.  I also pulled out some pattern paper by Basic Grey called Kioshi.   I usually plan out my projects out, but this time I just started putting things together to see where it would go.  I have to be honest...this isn't what I was picturing in my head.   The color palette is a bit odd for a wedding ~ but the pattern paper & the gift box really started to dictate the direction of the projects and I just went with it.

Here is a little table favor for guests or a gift box for the bride and groom.  The sentiment is from the Bird & Groom stamp set.  I didn't have any ribbon that matched Kioshi pattern paper, so I used some white May Arts ribbon and colored it with my V15 Copic marker ~ perfect match!

Next up is the wedding invitation ~ I printed it out on the computer on the Kraft cardstock and then stamped the church image in Palette Lavendar Sachet ink on the background.  I added another pattern of the Kioshi pattern paper pad to the top and more colored ribbon.

Next up are some simple post-card thank you notes for the bride and groom.  I added a bit of Punk Purple Sparkly Fluff to the Bird & Groom stamped images to add texture and make them POP.

I can't wait to see what all the other girls did with this challenge ~ go take a look and don't forget to leave a little love along the way...
