The ability to retell a story is an important kinder standard and one that tends to be quite challenging for English Language Learners.My class loves to hear stories and I think this will be a real favorite. Why do I love The Mitten? I like it because of the rich vocabulary it introduces and most students can relate to losing something important.The retelling cards are placed in the pocket chart and look like a Flow Map which is used for sequencing. I made a reader for them that matches the cards and has dots under the text to help them continue to develop concepts of print.
