A new chapter

So, awhile ago on here I mentioned that God was challenging me about doing something pretty big, but didn't say what. I needed some time to process this thing in my head as it wasn't something I was all that confident to do. Funny that!

So anyway that thing was homeschooling. Over this year, stuff has happened at school and long story short it just wasn't getting any better and so I decided to listen to God finally (better late than never) and take her out of school. Being a teacher it actually wasn't something I've actually ever thought about doing, so it feels a little weird to be going down this track, but then on the other side, I'm quite surprised how much fun it has been so far and the total peace I have about it now that we're doing it. Turns out it WAS God telling me all along. LOL

Sure it's challenging. And yes I am already missing my 'space'. But having narrowed down what she needs a big focus on (maths and spelling) I am quietly confident we have a timetable we can work with til Christmas, and can catchup on those 2 areas a wee bit while still doing a bit of everything else. Already noticing a closer bond between us which is awesome because we finally get quality time together now - not rushed 'tired time' at the end of the school day.

Everyone asks me already how we will ensure she gets social interaction with other kids?! I just laugh - this kid has so many friends already thru school, church and extended family - we hardly keep up as it is, we are always doing stuff with someone or other!

Will keep you posted on our progress!

Testing 1...2...3

Hubby set up blogger on my phone so I might blog more than twice a year. So I thought I'd try it out.

And here's an interesting pic that will always remind me never to let a 1-year-old wander thru a cafe with your cellphone in his hand. Moments after this was taken, he found a bucket of dirty water behind the counter and dropped it in it. Several bags of rice and hot water cupboard sleepovers later, it was still kaput. Having no cellphone for a week felt like I'd lost an arm!
