Hey everyone ! Today's a bt of a photo dump of various terrain bits I've done over the past few months and have been amassing on my desk ! I've decided to make this year the one when I getmore scatter terrain and NPC's painted to fill my tables , trying to squeeze some of those every other project.
Now here are a couple of pieces I don't think I've shown before and which were painted for Fogou's latest and last kickstarter ! You might have noticed I've painted quite a few of thier products and I've always had a huge fondness for both the founder Chris and his work so it's been a little heart ache to see the fogou train reach its final station. Fogou's not dead though, I still have plenty of terrain from them to paint nd I think I've read online that their items might be available from new folks.
Now a few years ago, GW released the underhive market for Necromunda and this felt so right I got 2 boxes of it ! Obviously, it does take a little work so other pans came in the way and they stood in a semi finished state for ages.
But the kit is wonderful and I'm very glad I finally finished them !
The kit is fairly modular and eables to do plenty of covers for your market sellers
Now the kit also comes with those pillars I have no idea about, what they're supposed to be or how i'm gonna use them but I guess I'll just figure it out while setting a table or maybe we'll just never know and it's just gonna be decorative !
Dating back from the first new edition Necromunda box from 2017, I also had those terminals still asking for some love so I gave it to them !
I had this metal console from winning a scratchbuilding contest a few years back and since I was painting computers, there wasn't any better occasion !
Now amongst the plethora of stuff I had, there was this lot of scifi furniture from Mantic's terrain crates including plenty of computers and terminals. Now I kinda "cheated" on those and used decals to make the basis of the displays to which I addd details to make them fancier, it really is a nice technique to save time and get clean features.
From the Underhive market set, I had those 4 fences that will never stand up on their own more than a second but I figure I'll find a way to make them work
I reckon they're mostly made to fit with those stands
The stands with the fences make nice display racks for anything you'd wanna sell
and they can hold the crates (which will be in the next batch of scatter terrain I paint)
Oh and I also found this prepainted crater so I based the edges and filled some of the crevixes with sand to blend it with the rest of my terrain and basing
So here we are, maybe not the most exciing entry this year but those little bits really play an important part in making the games more immersive and less empty, you might never know why there's a crate here and what it contains and it will never hold any relevance in your game but it is here and there's an inworld reason that makes the whole universe a litte more grounded.
Hope you all have some wonderful painting time !
I thoroughly approve of everything in this post. Some really great scatter and great paintwork. The Fogou quonset has come out very nicely.
ReplyDeleteThose Necromunda 'pillars' are horologium BTW - essentially market square clocks!
Oh right thanks, it should feel natural for a clock to be so OTT in this setting!
DeleteThanks !
Those sceneries are great for dark futuristic ambient. I really like hiw youvmadz the Star Saga consoles. I still need to finish mines and you gave me some ideas...
ReplyDeleteThey took forever until I really got into it and they came out fast, sometimes you just need to commit !
DeleteThanks !
Fantastic collection of terrain elements! Love the screens and terminals especially, and the decals on them work perfectly. :)
ReplyDeleteI will definitely look for more decals to do the heavy lifting for me, I'm not fond of free-hands so that's a huge help.
DeleteThanks !
Scatter terrain really elevates a table, so this is a great post.
ReplyDeleteBill.
I really think so, some little things go a long way and playing more narrative games lately, I find I really need as much of it as possible !
DeleteThanks Bill
These look very nice. I like how you've kept the grubby, decrepit look of Necromunda but you've added enough colours to make them look interesting. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you noticed, it's a tricky balance and I'm not great at in betweens ^^'
DeleteAll of this will only make your tabletops look the more immersive mate. Good stuff, I really should look at my own collection to add more to my own terrain too.
ReplyDeleteI've amassed a lot of stuff over the years but it's only ever useful if it's painted so I have to bite the bullet and go through some short term ungrateful steps to get a return on investment 10 folds later I guess
