Evan's Primary Program

Image
Primary Program today! It’s the Sunday I look forward to every year. Those kids and their sweet testimonies and bright spirit filled up my soul today. Thanks  @donna.mcnew  and  @bromacksparky  for coming today.

Church History Museum

Grandma Veva came to Salt Lake for a funeral in late April.  Jess and I decided to take her down to the Church history museum for the day.  She hadn't been there in over 30 years.  The museum was completely different for her and she loved going through and looking at all the art and church history.  We had a fun time showing her around.  When we left the museum, we still had time to take a look at temple square.  The grounds are beautifully landscaped at all times of year, but I think Spring is just a beautiful time to be there.  We loved eyeing their tulips. Then we crossed the street and saw the conference center before heading home to get the big kids from school.   Later that night we had barbecue for dinner.

Ward Christmas Breakfast

Image
Our ward held a Christmas breakfast the first Saturday in December.  Colin and I were just recently called to the activities committee and so we helped out a little bit.  I made the hot chocolate.   Ryan played in his first basketball game of the season and missed the party.  Evan thought Santa was an imposter but was eventually talked into a photo anyway.

Primary Program and Priesthood Preview

The boys had their primary program this Sunday.  They both did a fantastic job on their parts.  This year's theme was "I love to read the Scriptures".  As a family this is something we're getting a little bit better at.  It is fun to see the boys' testimonies grow as they do.  Thank you to my parents for coming to see the boys! Evan gave a part about Nephi.  He said, "My favorite scripture story is about Nephi.  He was brave and went to get the plates when his brothers were afraid". Ryan gave a short talk about Joseph Smith. Imagine a glass full of clear, pure water. If we bump the glass, some water might spill out and the glass wouldn’t be full anymore. When Jesus Christ was on the earth, He established His Church. He taught the fulness of the gospel: faith in Jesus Christ, repentance, baptism by immersion, the gift of the Holy Ghost, and obedience to the commandments. Jesus showed all people how we should live. He became the Savior of us all...

Church History Museum

A friend of mine and I took our boys downtown to see the Church History Museum.  It is beautiful and really well done.  We learned things about Joseph Smith and early LDS Church history that we hadn't known before.  The boys loved seeing the Angel Moroni up-close.  They even got to put on white gloves and touch it.  I loved the stain glassed window and the art displays upstairs.

Evan's Baptism

Evan was baptized and confirmed a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.   He was so excited to turn eight years old and make this big step.  He has been looking forward to it for a long time.  Our day was lovely and everything went very smoothly.  I was so glad to have so much family with us on this special day.  Colin's parents were able to come from Maryland and my whole family came out to support Evan on his big day.  We had a brunch afterward at our house.
