Leah Faith Jensen

Leah Faith Jensen

I can't believe I am the mother of 2 little girls and 4 handsome boys that makes 6 kids-Crazy how fast time has flown by.  We are so happy to have little Leah Faith here with us.  She is a perfect baby.  She sleeps a lot, and just wakes long enough to eat and look around a bit.  She has never even cried.  She is truly heaven sent.  She is well loved by the whole family.  Danny especially loves to lay on my bed and hold her.  He loves babies, and I'm sure he will watch over and protect her her whole life. Leah was born on Jan. 8th, 2014.  She weighed in at 8.6oz and was 21 inches long.  She was born planned C-section.  The delivery went well, along with the recovery (as well as can be expected).  She will always hold a special place in my heart.  I wanted to name her Faith because she will remind me always that there is a God, and a plan, and our children are predestined to come to each of our families.  It all started when I was having an emergency C-section with Grace 2 years ago.  When I look back on it was all meant to be.  Grace was going to be our last baby, I decided to have a natural birth since I had always wanted to and it would be my last chance.  I was in labor for about 8 hours.  The nurses kept asking if I wanted an epidural. It wasn't until I was dilated to an 8 and the doctor was on his way to deliver.  The nurse asked me again if I wanted an epidural and that it would be my last chance to have one.  The spirit told me to have one, and I fought the feeling since I had come so far and was almost done.  I told the nurse "OK" I guess I'll have one.  I laid on the bed and argued with myself that I didn't want to have one- but I did anyways.  Just then the doctor came in and checked me I was ready to deliver but the baby was breach.  None of the nurses had checked me the whole day- which was not normal (the baby could have been flipped if it had been caught sooner) and it required an emergency C-section.  The doctor said it was a good thing that I had the epidural or I would have to have been put to sleep for the surgery (which I later realized would have kept me from hearing Leah call to me, and also would have kept me from stopping them from tying my tubes). I had asked the Doctor about tying my tubes previously but it was very expensive.  He now said he could do it for free since he it would be an easy procedure with the C-section.  Being the frugal one that I am, I couldn't pass that up since we had decided 5 kids was all that we could afford to raise.   I was rushed to the O.R..  I became very emotional (which is very rare for me)  The tears couldn't stop rolling down my face.  I kept praying for peace, and to know that my decision was right.  As I finished my prayer I heard a very distinct voice that I will never forget.  It said "Mom, then I can't come to our family".  I immediately told the Doctor not to tie my tubes.  I didn't understand it all right then but I knew there was one more spirit to come to our family.  I was still concerned that adding more children to our family would add added stress to Ryan financially but I knew it would all work out.  A few weeks later we realized that our health coaching business had grown so much that we were making more than Ryan made building cabinets.  I remembered praying about Gracey being our last baby before she was born and making a deal with Heavenly Father that if we could afford to have more children we would.  Heavenly Father knows and cares about each of our needs and concerns.  We have been more than blessed with our health coaching business since then.  It has continued to grow and we definitely have no financial worries anymore.  We have truly been blessed and are so happy to feel like now our family is complete.  We are so glad that we had the Faith for one more baby in our family.  Yes, it is a little overwhelming, and a lot of work and chaos but I wouldn't change it for anything. We are blessed to have this sweet spirit girl in our home, and in our family.  She was names Leah after my grandmother Pearl's little sister who died in a fire when she was about 8 yrs old. She is truly a blessing to our family!

Baptism!

Davy turned 8 last month! I can't believe we have a boy old enough for baptism already! Davy was so excited to be baptized, and to get to be in scouts. He was baptized on March 3rd. He looked dashing in his new suit, and had lots of relatives come to support him. He sang "I am a Child of God" with his Uncle Ben and sounded so good that the primary president asked him to sing it in primary the next day. He chose to have Root Beer Floats after the baptism which was great for his very pregnant mom to not have to worry about putting on a big lunch afterward. Davy is such a spiritually in tune boy, and knows the importance of choosing the right, and always keeping the spirit with him by saying his prayers and serving others. We are so proud of Davy, and so grateful that he is strong example of righteousness to his younger brothers and sister!

Grandma and Grandpa Lindsey came for Davy's baptism and we were able to keep them here for a whole week. They as usual kept busy the whole time finding anything broken or unorganized in the house to clean or fix. They spent a lot of time with the boys cleaning out the playroom and boxing up several large boxes of toys that were not being played with to sell at a garage sale. Grandpa Lindsey was great to play and read with the boys, and even tackled the messy garage, and organized my food storage. They are such great examples of service and hard work. We sure appreciated their help with the kids, and the house! They watched the kids the night before I had Gracey and were able to stop by the hospital on their way out of town for a quick peek at her.

Grace Ann Jensen

I am so far behind in blogging but I thought I'd better get a few pictures of Gracey on the blog for Grandmas to see. Gracey was born on March 7th 2012 at 9:45 a.m. She was the runt of the family weighing in over a pound smaller than all of her brothers at 7.10lbs. She was discovered to be breech at the very last minute before being born, so she as Jake says it was "cut, baby, out, ouch!" He repeatedly likes to repeat this as he looks at my stitches several times each day. I guess now I have an easy explanation of how babies are born:) She has two cute dimples, and lots of dark hair. She looks mostly like Joey, but resembles Danny a little also. Gracey is healthy, and enjoys sleeping most of all. I have to remember to enjoy this time, and get things done while I can as she sleeps most of the day through. Jake hit his terrible twos (or at least it is just more noticeable now that I am occupied with a newborn). The boys all love to hold their baby sister (especially Jake and Danny). Danny spent the whole day with me one day at the hospital and held Gracey the whole day. When I came home from the hospital he was content to hold her all morning until he had to go to school. He loves babies, and like all of his brothers will surely care for and watch over her her whole life. We feel so blessed to have Gracey in our family. She is so precious!

Hunting in Oklahoma

Ryan's first ever blog post:
Every other year my mission buddy Drue Scott and his awesome family invite me to Oklahoma for an amazing Hunting Adventure. This year I was lucky enough to bring my little hunter Danny. Through 18 hours of driving each way, waking up at 4 AM. every morning, hiking, sitting, (lots of sitting) and getting home at 9 every night, This boy was Awesome. Not a single complaint in 8 days. Not an I'm hungry, I'm cold, I'm bored, or a can we go home yet. I was amazed, with how happy and content he was just hangin out with the boys. Danny had lots of animal firsts: White tail deer, Wild Turkeys, opossums, armadillos, porcupines, turtles, clams, and a few more. If you look down to the picture of Danny holding my rifle, notice his sweat pants are tied under his feet. In the hurried Gear check of opening morning, I forgot Dannys shoes at the house an hour away. So I grabbed my 50 lb. pack, gun, and chairs and threw Dan on my shoulders and hiked a good mile or more. We sat down as the sun was coming up, and the Deer were moving all around us. Dan spotted a group coming out of the trees, just below the bluff we were sitting on, with 5 does and a good buck chasing close behind. They worked their way over to the river bed and I finally got a clear shot at the Buck as he was running the bank at 258 yards. Danny told me he had to have atleast 10 points to shoot, so as soon as I had his ok I pulled the trigger. So 12 minutes into our hunt, we had our Buck down. Sweet!!! He was a 3 1/2 year old 10 point buck with great mass. My biggest white tail yet. Now the work began. I had to drag the buck back to the road, and up the 10 foot high river bank. So the next 2 hours went like this; Drag deer 30 feet, walk back get gear and Danny and carry them 30 feet past the deer, then back to the deer to drag it 30 feet past Dan, and so on and so forth for 2 hours. I was beat. But I had my little buddy cheering me on the whole time.

With the Key objective of the hunt taken care of, we had the rest of the week to kick back and not have to hunt so hard. Dan and I found plenty of other stuff to shoot, and had a great time doing it. Danny's new Antler and Tail collection added quite a few pieces. We also got to build a new hunting platform, that will be a used by Drue's Dad and the grand kids. Hopefully we can take advantage of it next time we're there. This year we all killed good bucks: Mine was 137 3/4, Drues was 123 7/8, Mikes was 124 3/8.
That's the best year yet for all of us.
Dan and I had a great week with Drue and Mike in Oklahoma and Liz had an equally great week at home. (quiet and peaceful, Danny is the Instigator, and loves to tease brothers) A special thanks to Mike and Jan Scott, currently serving in Budapest Hungary, for their great hospitality and friendship through the years. I can't wait to visit again. Next time I'll have to sneak in 18 holes on top of all the other great adventures.

Joey is growing up!

Joey's birthday was in October. He turned 4 years old. For his birthday we went to Trafalga with some cousins, and to Mcdonald's play land for dinner (it is about the only time of year that my kids get to go there-when they get to eat at their restaurant of choice for their birthday). I didn't have my camera with me at his family party because Ryan had it with him on a hunting trip, so I didn't get a picture of his cute red stick horse cake. All he wanted for his birthday was a red stick-horse (which his Grandma Crista bought him, along with some very cool cowboy boots) Joey loves to play with friends more than anything else. Joey is very smart, and funny. He likes to keep up with his older brothers. He is the most excited about having a baby sister. He has always loved little girls. He still will take a nap everyday (because the nap fairy leaves him a treat under his pillow), but as soon as he wakes up he is off trying to find a friend to play over. Joey loves to play games on the computer, and play outside. He is such a sweet boy. He has asked me a lot about when I will die lately. He wants to know how old he would be when I die, and where he will live. After much contemplation he asked if he had to have birthdays. When I asked why he wouldn't want birthdays because of all of the fun they are, he told me that he decided that he didn't want anymore birthdays because he didn't want to get older. He knew that if he got older, I would be closer to being older too, and would someday have to die. What a cute boy! You can't help but love Joey. He is so cute, and sweet. He is actively learning what foods are healthy, and has become a great eater at dinner time because he wants to get to be stronger than his big brothers. He likes everyone to feel his muscles after each healthy meal. As we go down the isles at the store he will point out what foods are healthy and which foods are junk. Today while in the bread isle at Walmart he told a lady that had white bread in her cart that she was buying "junky bread", and she should get the dark bread because it was healthy. I will be sad if that cute boy gets any older!

Danny

Danny turned 6 in October. He decided that he loved Koalas that month, and wanted a Koala cake, and a Koala costume (I haven't gotten a picture of that yet, but he looked cute in it). Danny is a great helper. He is the best big brother. He helps me entertain Jake all of the time. Danny loves to be with his Dad, and play with his favorite friend "TY". He is a very picky eater unless it includes; pears, yogurt, or chocolate milk. Danny has already lost 2 teeth, and we love to see his cute smile. He is in Kindergarten and his teacher says that everyone wants to be his friend. For his birthday we invited his friend to go ice skating, and the play at Taco Time play-land for dinner. We had a family party with cake and ice cream with our family. Danny had a great birthday. We can't wait to see how much he changes before he turns 7. We love Danny!

PLAYING CATCH UP

I decided that I have put off blogging long enough, and that I had better update my blog or it will turn into a overly daunting task that gets put too far on the back burner like my scrapbook. Things have been both busy, but great all at the same time. Here is a quick update on our family. The summer flew by. We enjoyed a lot of time at the waterpark, and just playing with friends. We went camping a few times, and took a fun little vacation up to Lake Tahoe for a getaway with many of the Lindsey cousins. We enjoyed swimming at the time share, playing at the beach, and being with family. Grandma and Grandpa Lindsey invited Davy and Danny to stay a week with them at their house and then they brought them back to Utah. They both had a great time with their grandparents and cousins, and can't wait to stay with them again.
In August Ryan's Dad's Allstate business changed owners, and I have since retired from the insurance business. I am now a health coach for a great company called Take Shape For Life. I have always wanted a job in the health and fitness field but there truly isn't many out there besides teaching at a gym, or being a trainer or nutritionist. I am able to work from home, it takes very little of my time, and it is very rewarding. I am blessed to see peoples lives change for the better. My parents have been on the plan for 3 weeks now, and are doing great. My dad is off of his blood pressure medicine, and they are both feeling great. The thing I love about the company is that not only do my clients see fast results (3-5 pnds/wk), their health increases dramatically, and they learn healthy habits to be able to keep the weight off forever. It has truly been like taking a continual college course in health for me as I continue to learn about optimal health. I am excited to see what the future holds, and the lives that I will be able to help to improve.
It is now December, and I am trying to get into the Christmas spirit. I do love Christmas, but I long for simpler times. It is not that I don't like giving, or serving others, I just hate the commercialized version of Christmas. The feeling that you have to buy gifts for everyone (most of them with little meaning). I love when I can give a practical or meaningful gift. I don't love searching for toys/presents for my kids when they really don't need or want anything.
We keep things pretty simple at our home for Christmas. The kids get a few presents, and then get spoiled by their grandparents but we try not to buy things that will just junk up the house. I would be all in favor of going back to little house on the prairie times during the Christmas season. To focus Christ's birth, and being with family would be so much more meaningful. I do wish you all a very merry Christmas. My wish for you is that you are with the ones you love this season, and grow closer to our savior Jesus Christ.
