Once Upon A Sketch

Well it's March!  And with the new month comes a new challenge over at Once Upon A Sketch! I do hope you play along with us! :)

The challenge:

Journaling Criteria: The focus of your journaling and the theme of your layout has to be based on YOU and the one thing that you are really good at. Don't be shy! We are all good at something as small or as big as it might be.  It is so easy to name off the things we can't do well or what we want to improve on, but it's nice to recognize that we are good at some things too and it is absolutely ok to acknowledge those things!

You MUST combine the journaling criteria with this sketch:
My Layout:

Well I choose not to focus on one specific thing I am good at, but to name a few things I like about myself...a few things I think I am good at which make me a good person.  :)

Here's my layout:

So I did this layout before knee surgery and took the picture then as well.  But didn't catch in time that there was something on the lense.  I tried to edit is as well as I can, but it still looks a bit blurry to me...just in the middle, sorry about that.  The close ups looks a bit better, but there's nothing I can do about this one right now.  Oh well, right.

Everything comes from Fancy Pants, from their Be You collection.  I love love love this fun collection.

Here's the close up's:

The prizes:

You won't want to miss the prizes you can win...lots of good stuff!

1. The winner of this challenge, as chosen by the Design Team, will win a spot on our Design Team for the month of April. As well as that, the winner will also receive a nice prize from Berry71Bleu 's etsy shop:

2. One RANDOM lucky person will receive GORGEOUS handmade tag from Berry71Bleu.  Here is an example of the kind of tag you could receive..

See!!! Lots to win! :)

I really hope you play along with us this!!!! You have until March 14th to upload your entry here. Can't wait to see what YOU do! :)

Thanks so much for stopping in today!!!!  Today is Hayden's birthday!  He turns 7!  He's a bit bummed we aren't having a big party right now, but I hope to play some games and just spend some nice time together today.  We will have family over to celebrate this weekend, but can't do too much because I am still laid up on the couch.  I hope to convince him that games with mommy on the couch can be just as fun.  ;)  We did buy Hugo too...so we get to watch that.

Have a wonderful day!

A Fancy Layout and Some Fancy Sneaks

Well this week has been busy here!  Lots of creating with fun new stuff!  You should see the boxes I have scattered around my room.  :)  But I've also been sick.  :(  And just plain exhausted.  I hope I can get back to normal soon.  I have so much to share with you but most of it can't be shared just yet.  So I will share a layout I actually did a while back but haven't posted yet.  :)

I used a lot of Spellbinders on this layout.  I used the Creative Book Pages and the Wonderful Wings dies.  I cut the butterflies, but I also used the butterfly as a stencil.  I put the die on my page, traced around it and then added stitching over my pencil lines.  It made for a cool journaling block.  :)

All the papers are from the Baby Mine collection from Fancy Pants Designs.  I love how I used this baby collection for a non-baby....it's actually pretty easy to do with this collection.  :)

Here are some close up's of my layout:

And speaking of Fancy Pants...have you seen the new releases yet?  They are sharing their fourth collection on their blog today!  And you can win the new collections, so make sure you stop by and check it out!  I'll post sneaks of the new collections here:

Thanks for stopping in today!!!!!  I haven't done much blog hopping myself this week because I have been so busy, but I hope to soon!

Have a wonderful day!!!

How You See

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for all the comments lately...you all seriously rock! I have loved reading them all. :) I have another layout to share with you today. It uses the beautiful Summer's End collection from Fancy Pants.

Here are the close up's:

That circle border is punched circles, one acrylic glitter cut doily and one rub on doily.

That corner piece is a printed filter embellishment that I folded over and then once more...worked perfectly and I think I will be doing this again. :)

It came together rather quickly because I had this sketch/idea in my head. :)

Hope you all are enjoying the week! Thanks for stopping in! :)

Adventures in the Dark

So last night I got this brilliant idea. AFTER I put the kids to bed, I thought I could go out and work on staining the kid's swing set that we just put up. Just a side note...I probably should have stained the wood before putting the swing set together, oh well, but I thought I'd mention that in case you have a swing set in your future. Back to the story...to be honest, it was the most peace I experienced the whole day...the kids had the day off and man did they fight and misbehave all day...it was one of those long frustrating days when you sigh a big sigh of relief when the day is over. Anyways...so there I am, outside, at night and it keeps getting darker. I'm happily staining away thinking I should do this kind of stuff at night more often...I felt like I was getting it done and doing a really good job. :) Then it just gets too dark to keep going. So I go and get a light and bring it out. Wow...I wasn't doing as good a job as I thought I was. :) There were drips and missed spots. So I tried to fix what I could and then went in. That's where I discovered that I myself was covered in drips of stain as well. A normal person would have maybe freaked a little and cleaned it off right away. But I found it totally inspiring and decided to hit the scrapbook room (I DID shower first though). I am so weird. I thought I would get a bit artsy, but then I decided to make a layout. I pulled out some favorite papers that I have had for awhile and hadn't used. They were from My Mind's Eye. I remembered that MME had a sketch challenge up on their blog, so that's what I decided to do. For a brief moment my life seemed back to normal...me up late at night scrapping...I haven't done that in a while.

Here's my layout:

It is based off this MME sketch:

Most of what I used comes from the Lost and Found collection from MME.

There is so much texture on this layout...I love it. :)

Here are some close up's:

It's nice to be blogging and scrapping again. Most of what I have been posting is not new stuff...just stuff I hadn't posted yet, but this layout is totally new. Yeah! :)

Ok, well have a fantastic day!

Broken But Not Defeated

**In case you missed it, I have a giveaway in the post below this one.**

So I mentioned on facebook last week that I had made a new layout, here's the layout I was talking about...

And the close up's:

(LOVE those fabric leaves from Prima!)

Didn't feel like journaling much...just what I wanted to say.

That teal paint is from a large foam stamp. Sometimes I just want to risk getting a little messy. :)

And I have done this before, but I just love cutting flowers in half and using them on the sides. I think it's cool. :) You don't have to. ;)

All of the supplies come from Prima Marketing and were adhered using the fabulous 450 Quick Dry from Helmar.

I don't feel like there is too much to say...the layout says it all.

Have a great day!

Fancy a layout about me?

Just a quick post today to share a layout with you. It was already posted on the Fancy Pants blog, but I haven't posted it here yet.

I used the "Love Birds" collection from Fancy Pants. Here are some close up's:

I'm having a hard time getting back into the swing of things after the holidays. Austin is too...he is really having a hard time waking up in the morning. Hopefully we can get back to normal soon.

Have a fantastic day!!!

Attitude of Gratitude **MLS BLOG HOP**

Welcome everyone to My Little Shoebox's THANKFUL blog hop! :) If you are just stopping by, why not start the hop at the beginning on the MLS blog. If you came from Aphra, then you are in the right place. Wasn't Aphra's project amazing!!! I just loved it.

There will be a prize awarded to one lucky winner of THEIR CHOICE of a MLS collection! I think that is cool that they are letting you choose. Make sure you leave comments on all the blogs in the hop.

So today I will be sharing a layout with you. Last year on facebook I started doing this "Attitude of Gratitude" thing where I tried to be mindful of what I was thankful for throughout the month of November. I am doing it again this year, but I am trying to do it everyday. If you are my friend on facebook then you will have seen my posts. :) I've noticed that a lot of people are doing it this year and I just think that is FANTASTIC! I thought it would be cool to document that. It's always good to be reminded of the good things in life. So I copied and pasted all my posts from last year and used them on a layout...I plan to do the same for this year.

Here is the layout I made...

I mixed it up and used a variety of lines from My Little Shoebox. I used Helmar adhesives to adhere it all...I used Helmar 450 Quick Dry Adhesive and then a variety of Zapdots to pop up a few things.

Here are some close up's of my layout:

Those flowers are stamped and embossed, then I stitched on top of them to make it kinda look like a banner. :)

And it wouldn't be a blog hop without prizes, right? :) Besides the grand prize....

I will have my own giveaway. To be eligible, simply leave a comment on my blog post and I will draw one lucky winner. :) Here's the prize:

These fabulous mini alphabets are the most popular item MLS makes. You can win 6 different colors: Limeade, Brownie, Lollipop, Pearl, Razzleberry, and Mermaid.

Oh and before you hop on....

I have a few layouts up at Scrapbooks, Etc that are in the running for a $100 prize! If you like them, I would LOVE your votes! Check them out here ("Captured Joy"), here ("Makes My Heart Happy") and here ("Chocolate"). THANKS!!!!!

Ok and now it is time to hop on to the fabulous and incredibly talented Carol!!!

Have a fantastic day! Hope you stop in again! :)
