Fall Is Approaching

I am in the mood to make fall cards.  I had found some vellum with scattered leaves on it so wanted to use it on a card.  Of course once you layer things on it, you don't see many of the leaves on the vellum as on this card.

I used the weekly sketch from Freshly Made Sketches - I liked all the layers.

I have a packet of paper (old packet) from Cosmo Cricket - the colors are great.  The package has stickers with it so I decided to use some of those for my layers.  The sentiment and the arrow are part of the collection.  The vellum and greenish square of pattern paper is just stitched to the under layer of red.  The leaf is cut with my Silhouette.

One more fall card done.  I think I will send this to my Mom - she is such a blessing to all of us.

Come back tomorrow for a fun announcement.

Oldie Moldie Monday

I bet you thought I had forgotten it was Monday and I needed to show some love to some old supplies.  No, I did not forget - I had to do some cooking for a potluck at work.

I found this paper from Cosmo Cricket - it is a packet so it has a couple sheet of images.  I used one of the  images on my card.  The card will go in my next Operation Write Home box.

Everyone enjoy what is left of Monday.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Yes I know it is the end of Monday but I must confess the cards were done yesterday - I just had no gumption to go take pictures and post them.

This remodeling is hard on a person plus I did lots of traveling over the Thanksgiving week end so did not have much time to create.

This is a collection from Cosmo Cricket from 2009.  Pretty bright colors.  Both stamps are from Whipper Snapper Designs.  The Hello heart sentiment is from Hero Arts.  These two cards will go into my next Operation Write Home box.

Enjoy what remains of your Monday.

Unity Stamp Company Challenge Goes Mixed Media

Every month Unity Stamp Company has a challenge.  You can do either a color theme, a sketch for a card or a sketch for a scrapbook page.  On this project I chose to do the color theme challenge.

I have been playing with some mixed media projects and had finished up a couple bigger pieces so decided to try my hand at making a small ornament for Christmas using mixed media.  The page of the card is pages from an old book that have been glued together with gel medium.  Other paper has been added to the layers and then gesso, paint, gelatos, etc.  The little penguin is a Unity Stamp.  The words are from some scrapbook paper by Cosmo Cricket that I just cut apart for a verse on the card.  I added rubons (I see one kinda rubbed off).  The loop trim was cut with my Silhouette.  I added gesso around the edge of the ornament to add more dimension.  I wrapped twine around a fine wire to make the hanger.  I added a button and bow to the paper strip to add more dimension.

This was a fun project and this year I may make more of these instead of cards - especially for those who decorate Christmas trees.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Still working on the 6 x 6 pad from Cosmo Cricket - 4 more cards made this week - actually made a couple more that were repeats from a previous week.  I made these cards trying to keep my sanity from water coming into my basement.  Saturday night - I started tearing out the ugly pink carpet.  This will probably be an entire summer project of getting the carpet torn out.  But back to my cards.

More cards for my next Operation Write Home Box.  The images in the middle cards are from a game by Crayola - memory game - well I thought the animals were so cute - they would make great cards.

I do have to look at that last card - hoping it is my photography skills and that the card is not crooked.

Everyone enjoy your Monday and remember to show some love to your old papers.

Oldie Moldie Monday

And everyone thought I had forgotten to post today - I was just too tired to take pictures last night and do a post.  So I did it today.  Still working on that Cosmo Cricket 6 x 6 pad.  How about that lucky accident - arrows in the paper and an arrow in the question mark.  Was that lucky?

These will go in my next Operation Write Home box.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Still working on the Cosmo Cricket 6 x 6 pad I started on last week.  More cards for Operation Write Home.  Having fun with this paper pad - love the cheerful colors.  I know they will bring smiles to many people.

Enjoy Monday - back to work for me today after a week of vacation.

Happy April 1 - What Day Is It?

Today is Monday - Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for your old supplies - they are still beautiful - you just need to find them and create some wonderful cards or layouts with them.  I am trying to use up some of my 6 x 6 pads (my mand 6 x 6 pads) so I will make cards out of this pad until I am done using all the paper.  I will try to use leftover pieces of cardstock, etc to help in the cardmaking process.

The paper pad is from Cosmo Cricket.  Lucky me - this car was inside the pad already colored - how lucky can you get.  Both these cards will be added to my next Operation Write Home box.  Can't you see some parent sending the bottom card home to a little boy who loves cars and know that little boy will just cherish the card he got from his Hero parent.

Everyone enjoy your Monday and show some love to your old supplies.  You too can make someone smile with a hand crafted card.

Happy Cardmaking Day with Operation Write Home

Welcome to my blog today to celebrate World Cardmaking Day - my favorite holiday of the year.  I think I will go buy myself a present today - oh yes - I buy myself presents all the time.  In fact, this wonderful snowman is a new stamp/die cut I bought from Archievers.  It is by Hero Arts.  The paper is from Cosmo Cricket. The design of the card is based on this sketch from Operation Write Home.  I turned my card the other way.

First I forgot the guidelines for today and I made another card so I had to share it also.

The hello is cut with my Silhouette.  The snowman is a stamp/die cut from Hero Arts from last year.

Happy hopping - if you need to return to home base - here is the link.

More Hero Arts Fun

I found a new challenge site "Just Add Ink" and they have a sketch challenge this week.

My usual trick with separate panels is to just add strips of paper across a large piece to make it look like I labored adding those separate pieces to a card front.  My ovals were either too large or too small - sounds like a fairy tale doesn't it.

I used my new Hero Arts snowman die cut and Cosmo Cricket paper to make my card.  An SRM Sticker finishes off the card.  This card will go into my next Operation Write Home Box.  I think that little snowman will bring smiles to a few faces.

Enjoy your day - dinner with my Ya Ya's tonight.

Oldie Moldie Merry Monday and Hero Arts

I bet everyone thought I had forgotten to make an oldie moldie Monday card - did not forget - just did not get it done until tonight.  I have been busy with Operation Write Home's September birthday activities.  We had lots of fun.  Played with different product and shared lots of creativity.

My card tonight uses paper from 2010 from Cosmo Cricket - I love the colors in it.  I wonder if the snowman should have been cream but who sees a cream colored snowman.  The stamp is a new stamp/die cut from Hero Arts and Archiver's.  I am going to experiment with the scarf a little - I don't know if I like that much black on my scarf.

The card layout is based on the sketch at Merry Monday.

Part of the challenges at the Hero Arts blog for the month of October is to use your die cuts.

Hope you enjoyed my Oldie Moldie Merry Monday card.

Embossing and Christmas

It is time to start working on your holiday cards - I gathered together some challenges and set to work.

Lots of places have an embossing challenge.

Stampendous's September challenge is to use embossing.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge is also embossing

Shopping our Stash Challenge - embossing

And the weekly sketch from Merry Monday.

The paper grouping is a very old grouping from Cosmo Cricket.  The santa stamp is from Stampendous - stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with Zing brown embossing powder.  I distressed the edges of all the paper.  The sentiment is also from Cosmo Cricket.  The card size is 5 x 7.

Everyone enjoy the remainder of your evening.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Couldn't let Monday go by without posting a couple Oldie Moldie Monday cards.  I was hoping to make another one with my paper for the Merry Monday challenge - but maybe they are not having one on Labor Day.  This is an old collection from Cosmo Cricket.  Using scraps, diecuts and anything else that works with the paper.  These cards will be going in my Operation Write Home Box.

Have a wonderful Monday.  I need to finish up some chores around the house - you know the four day work week will seem like 6 days.

Anything Goes

Good morning - it is Friday - it is a 3 day week end - yeah.  A quick post to share a holiday card I made.  I made the card from a  sketch from Merry Monday.  The paper is an old collection from Cosmo Cricket - but it has the traditional holiday colors and designs.  I think I will just use this grouping of paper over the week end and make some more cards for my Operation Write Home box.  I kept the card flat for easier mailing.  The greeting is pop dotted so there is just a little dimension.  Here is the sketch.

Simon Says Stamp blog also has a challenge "anything goes" so my card is going over there also.

Thanks for stopping by for a visit.

Another Monkey Card

Another card for my Operation Write Home box.  It is monkey cards on the midweek challenge on Stars and Stamps - and since I have a multitude of monkey stamps - I thought I would make some extra monkey cards this week.

I don't know who the monkey couple stamp is made by.  The paper is by Cosmo Cricket and the Love Sticker is by SRM Stickers.  I think someone will be very happy to get this love card.

Come back tomorrow - I heard there was going to be some red, white and blue fun.

Hero Arts, Imaginisce, and Merry Monday

I started this card last night working on the flower.  It is a clear stamp from Imaginisce - it also has the little holiday sentiment I used on last week's holiday card.  I stamped it on watercolor paper and embossed with brown embossing powder.  I then grabbed my distress inks and perfect pearls mist.  Swiped the inks on my mat, spritzed on some perfect pearls and started painting the poinsettia.  I just kept adding layers.  I wanted it to look very vintage.  The perfect pearls adds such a nice shimmer.  Each layer of the poinsettia was pop dotted on the card front.  I added the brownish pearl to the center.  The paper is an old collection from Cosmo Cricket - but it has some great papers in it.  The sentiment is by Hero Arts - three sentiments in the set - I think it will be one of my better purchases - I will get lots of use out of it for holiday cards for Operation Write Home.

The card is based on the Merry Monday Sketch Challenge on Always Playing With Paper.

Have a wonderful day - we will see if I can get the card that is in my head out onto the drawing board tonight.

Oldie Moldie Monday

Oldie Moldie Monday - time to show some love for some older paper you have in your supplies.  I don't know if this paper is too old but I haven't created with too much of it - so I need to get busy.  In fact - next week - I may use it again - if I can locate the stamp I want to use.

The paper is a 6 x 6 pad from Cosmo Cricket - Joy Ridge.  The stamp is from Stampabilities.  The happy hello sentiment is from Unity Stamps and the Happy Birthday is from Hero Arts.  I thought it should be a birthday card since I used the numbers patterned paper on the card.

These cards are going in my Operation Write Home box.  I am trying to mix up my box more this time.  Last week I made a girl card so this week I wanted to make some boy cards.  I think the robot is co cute - and pretty easy to color.

So dig out some old paper - and show it some love - just think - you are probably a better cardmaker than you were when you bought it - and so your cards will be fantastic.

Cosmo Cricket, Card Positioning System, humor and Operation Write Home

Second post on a Sunday - I wanted to do some posting of a humor card I made after being inspired by the "Make Em Laugh" bloghop on Operation Write Home's card blog Stars and Stamps.  Did you go and follow along on the hop with all the different companies - it was such fun - I had a good giggle at each hop along the way.  Many of the companies were offering a chance to win something by posting a humorous card.  I based my card on the sketch at Card Positioning System - I love layers.

I did change the oval to a circle - I knew I wanted to use this funny image - every time I use this stamp - I smile - looks like a bad hair day to me - or you could have been scared straight - or that is your style.

The paper is from the 6 x 6 pad from Cosmo Cricket - Tea for Two.  It has such pretty colors and prints in the grouping.  6 x 6 pads are great because the designs are smaller and work so well on cards.  The sentiment was computer generated.  The stamp is from a designer in Wisconsin - Chris - who coordinates the Stamp show held in Madison in November.

I will be posting my cards to Graphics 45 facebook page; Market Street Stamps; and Lawn Fawn.

I hope you will join us in making cards for our Heroes.  How wonderful it is to share you hobby with people and just think, what a legitimate excuse to buy new supplies (insert really big smile here).

Cosmo Cricket and Cardabilities Unite

Second post of the day - you can see I am working on my holiday cards and I also wanted to do the sketch at Cardabilities.  I do believe the deadline is today or tomorrow so once again I am just getting my card submitted.

This is an older collection from Cosmo Cricket - 2008 actually - I love the vintage feel of the paper.  The stamp is new - I bought it the day before Thanksgiving.  It is by TPC studio.  One color stamping - my idea of fast and fun cards.

The sketch from Cardabilities is a very simple sketch that you could do lots with.  I kept mine very simple.  Showing off the vintage snowflakes on the patterned paper.  I did two versions of hte card.  One I centered the sentiment and just added pearls in the corner.  On the other card I decided I wanted to add a bow of some sort.  You would have thought with the millions of yards of ribbon I own I would have had the perfect brown ribbon - but now - so back to my trusty brown twine from May Arts - I think I just bought an additional 40 yards of it.  The edges of the paper were all inked to add some depth to the paper and make it look "more vintage".

Well back to creating - two more cards done - I need to go finish the inside of thse cards - I hve a sentiment that has joy in it so I will use that on the inside ofthe card.

Happy creating.

Wednesday March 9, 2011

Good evening - I am sharing my third Christmas card of the year. It did snow here in Wisconsin again today - it was wet and yucky and horrible to drive in - but the good thing - the roads were clear when we came from work and it will be warm this week so I am not going to worry about clearing off the driveway - we will let mother nature do that for me.

The Penny Black blog has a challenge each Monday. This week it is to use the color combination of purple, teal and orange. Lavendar is a shade of purple - right. I have had this stamp since last holiday season but never used it - it is a clear stamp set - I have problems stamping with acrylics - the ink seems to bleed - does anyone know what I am doing wrong.

I do hope you like my non traditional color holiday card.

Have a wonderful evening.

Card Details:
Size: 5 x 7
Stamp: Penny Black colored with Copics
Paper: My Mind's Eye, Cosmo Cricket
