Shadow Shot Sunday

I dug into the "archives" this morning to find a photo so I could join in Shadow Shot Sunday!
I've been away too long from this fun meme.

I took this in September 2010. It's a mulberry tree in our front yard.

See lots more shadowy pix from across the globe at Shadow Shot Sunday 2, hosted this week by our blog friend Gemma Wiseman in Australia.

Sounds silly, but it makes me sad

Feeling sad today about losing a tree. Not my tree, but a beautiful tree from the yard of the house right next door. I don't know what kind of tree it was; I suppose I could research it.

I was only gone for an hour and a half yesterday morning. When I returned and pulled into the driveway it seemed sunnier than usual. I didn't know why.
I was startled to see a stump where a healthy-looking, graceful tree once stood. I can't imagine why it was cut down.

There must be a reason.

I liked that tree. It not only provided shade but it added beauty to the neighborhood. It's an empty feeling now when I look outside.

It's beginning to look a lot like...

Christmas?

Yesterday I wrote my third story in as many years about a well-shaped evergreen tree from Shelton, Ct. being cut down for use as a Christmas tree. (You can read it under the link above)

Coincidence? I suppose. Unless there is something in the soil in this southern Connecticut town that makes evergreens flourish and grow to more than 60 feet high. I wonder if someone would want to investigate that possibility?

It's interesting to watch the work crews ready the trees for transport. It's quite a process.

Have a great fall weekend. We have rain in the forecast here. Not fun.
