Sewpony Blogtour - Catherine cardigan

Aussie blogtour today, so yes! This one's in English!

A few days ago I screened Pinterest, looking for inspiring ideas for this cardigan,

and I ended up scrolling through Suz's page where she shows the world all the things she made.

I was amazed, because besides all these fabulous patterns, she made so much more!

And I must admit,... I think we only saw the tip of the iceberg so far,

so I am already wondering what she will be up to next ;-)

But anyway, ... back to the topic of the day: The Catherine cardigan.

As you can see, there are a number of options, and although I wanted to go for the short-sleeved version,
the cold weather influenced me into making one that she could wear immediately.

I selected a small piece of blue fabric that I found years ago in the thriftstore.

Just enough for the pattern pieces, but then I forgot to include the cuffs...oops!

Luckily some plain black ribbing did the trick and I finished the cardigan with some beautiful

old wooden buttons. They came off a vest I used a few years ago to make these cute pants...

As for the sizing: I made size 3 , which fits my three year old perfectly. However I noticed now that I folded the cuffs in half while dressing her, so they look shorter in my pictures... normally they are double the lenght you see here in the picture below. Anyway... spot on! Thank you Suz!

Jump in style

Emma had deze zomer een broekpakje dat ze heel graag aandeed, maar helaas pindakaas,...

het kind groeit dus was er dringend nood aan een groter exemplaar.

Zoals ik ook deed bij dit kruippakje, begon ik als basis met een patroon voor een jurkje,

zodat het bovenstukje mooi aanpaste en ik daar al geen pas- en meetwerk aan had.

Ik gebruikte deze keer de TicTacToeDress van Sewpony.

Het bovenstukje borduurde ik met mijn machine,...

gewoon een fijne zigzagsteek met een zachtroze draad. De tekening zette ik er in 'toverstift' op,

en ik verstevigde de achterkant met dunne vlieseline ( die ik er nadien tussenuit knipte).

Het broekdeel nam ik ruim over van het broekpakje uit haar kleerkast,

en omdat het toch de bedoeling is om in de herfst en winter te dragen, voerde ik het volledig

met een heel zacht batist katoentje. Zo valt het mooi dik.

De blauwe jeanskleurige stof - geen idee meer vanwaar die komt - valt heel soepel en is daardoor

perfect voor dit model. Ik had net genoeg voor het broekpak, en een mini-stukje voor een tweede voorpand, mocht het borduren toch niet zo goed aflopen ;-)

Aan de achterkant een blinde rits, want 5 knoopjes op de rug vindt mama niet echt handig ...

Cosmo Dress Tour - little black dress

Vandaag is het mijn beurt om jullie de Cosmo Dress voor te stellen, het nieuwste patroon van Sewpony.
Zoals we gewoon zijn van de Sewpony patroontjes, is aan alles gedacht,

en zit er weer enorm vele variatie in verwerkt. Hoe je het ook draait of keert,

je kan voor elk seizoen wel eentje maken. Kijk maar naar deze, deze of deze!

Opvallende details bij dit kleedje zijn de zichtbare rits en de leuke kraagjes!

Ik maakte een herfstversie, ... donkere kleuren, maar toch nog een korte mouw.

Het kraagje wilde ik graag zwart houden, maar toch laten opvallen tegenover de achtergrond,

dus borduurde ik een randje met roze garen.

Ook zin om eentje te maken?

Juliette top - kneesocks and goldilocks

I'm no superwoman with superpowers, I just try to do my best, and sometimes I fail.

But I don't have time to dwell on a problem, I try to find solutions, and move forward!

OK, and now the truth...
I made crappy pictures, then tried every button in Lightroom to fix it...

and ended up with this vintage look... Hope you still like it!

This cute little top is the result of a collaboration between Sewpony and kneesocks & goldilocks.

I am a fan of both of them, so those two working together is a win-win situation for all of us.

The Juliette pattern comes with a number of options, but the trademark is definitely the flutter colar,

so I surely wanted to use that option in my sewing project.

Fabric picking was a bit of a struggle for this one. I wanted to make something that stood out,

but ended up with the most plain fabric I could find in my stash, - a vintage bedsheet -

since in the end, I just wanted the piece to stand on its own.

The A-line shape makes it a rather wide top,
so I combined it with jean shorts which works well I think.

The pattern is quite versatile and has 4 different sleeves, 2 collars and 2 lenghts,

so enough options to play with! It is a quick and easy sew, even for beginners,
because there is no zipper or buttonhole on this one!

Miss Polly loves cherries

Bij Sewpony is het druk de laatste tijd. Ze werkt volop aan nieuwe patroontjes,
maar ondertussen naai ik met veel plezier nog een van haar oldies - de Miss Polly dress.

Ik maakte er al drie, en ik vind ze het mooist met een iets stijvere katoen,

zodat hij mooi recht valt.

Het kersenstofje kocht ik bij Juffertje Uil, de fluo streepjes zijn van Petit Pan,

en het groene kantje kocht ik ooit op de rommelmarkt.
