Lou Christie Genesis And The Third Verse

This was not the planned upload for today. I was preparing one and then I realized I had already uploaded it...TWICE. I have had that happen several times. I usually do a great job with double checking so I must have been in a hurry. Oh, well...it gave me the opportunity to upload another Lou Christie 45...Lou's birthday was this past week and would have been 83. Weird little 45 that did not hit the charts which really is no surprise

Lou Christie - Why Did You Do It Baby? / Make Summer Last Forever

I had planned on ending the week with another Lou Columbia side but as I was listening to it this morning I somehow recorded it twice on the same MP3 so I will have to re-record it at some point for the future. As I recorded more Lou songs than there are days in the week, here is a back up

Lou Christie- Mickey's Monkey

I uploaded a song from Lou's does Detroit..but obviously Lou did Motown way before that LP. This was from 1971 and I have seen reference for a stock copy but I have only ever seen promos. Matter of fact I have few of his Buddah 45s as they are not easy to find

Lou Christie - Don't Stop Me / Back In The Days Of The Romans

Lou bounced around from label to label in the 60's...probably lucky to get out of Roulette with his limbs and jaw intact. After he left MGM, Columbia came a calling and a few 45's followed and they are not easy to find.  It wasn't unitl last year that the Columbia songs were compiled in a release. Very light success on Columbia but almost a popsike sound if you ask me and I guess I didn't really appreciate them until the last year.

Lou Christie- Jungle

Album spotlight. I always loved this song from the Lightnin Strikes LP. Last year about the time I won the Have I Sinned acetate, the same seller had an acetate of this song. I missed out on winning it. This post would have been sooo much cooler with that acetate!

Lou Christie - A Teenager In Love / Back Track

Nice doublesided 45 that went nowhere. Much like Brian Wilson last week, I recorded way too many Lou Christie songs for this week. But that is A OK by me

Lou Christie - Riding In My Van

Here is a one off 45 on Epic. I had several copies of this for years but never listened to it. When I started getting into Lou I finally listened to this and realized I missed out. So did the record buying public it seems

Also, I reposted Painter MP3 and took more pictures. I believe I have a better picture sleeve some where so I need to find that one.

Lou Christie - Have I Sinned

Another tribute week as we lost Lou last week. As I have collected Lou, I always thought Have I Sinned was an odd choice by Colpix for a 45 release. Of course it was unsuccessful. But what I found even odder, is this MGM Acetate I picked up for Have I Sinned- If MGM was considering releasing this as a 45 either before or after Lightning Stikes they obviously changed their minds. The recording is of the acetate

Lou Christie - If You Really Love Me

Wednedsay Album Spotlight Lou Christie Does Detroit is also a Happy Birthday to Lou Christie. Interesting that CBS Special Projects picked this up. This apparently was first released on a smaller label. But when Lou does my favorite Stevie Wonder song you can't go wrong

Lou Christie - O Holy Night

Day three of Christmas posts gives us a difficult to find Lou Christie Chirstmas 45 and it has the extra bonus of being autographed. I managed to score this one mail order very very cheap.

I also want to congratulate Travis Hunter on his Heisman win. He has been such a joy to watch. I have suffered through 20+ years of mediocre /pathetic football from my Colorado Buffaloes and to finally have a coach and team that has heart and desire is so wonderful. May GOD continue to bless Coach Prime and the Buffaloes...SKO BUFFS!

Lou Christie - Outside The Gates Of Heaven / All That Glitters Isn't Gold

I was not very prepared this morning. I did not do much recording over the past 5 days off.  But it gives me a chance to post another Lou Christie 45...man this stuff is so good to me

Lou Christie - If My Car Could Only Talk

If I would have realized Lou's birthday was yesterday I would have uploaded this then. So, Happy 81st Birthday Lou. I'm excited about this post as this is one of those bangers that has been on my want list for years and I finally picked up a copy with the stock 45. Matter of fact, I bought the promo from the same person along with a few other early 60's promo Lou's. I had purchased the 45's first and then messaged the person asking them if they had any picture sleeves from Lou. He had this one and the price was incredible (good) so of course it was a YES YES YES. I already had the stock copy of the 45 and I believe I have a promo copy somewhere not in my very behind database. I don't understand why this was not a hit. It had everything that we have come to love from Lou. And I also don't understand why this picture sleeve is so expensive when the rest of his are very reasonable. I am pretty sure I am going to overdo the Lou Christie 45's on this blog in the near future as I am so enjoying rediscovering him. I also read that his lost Columbia recordings are being released I believe this week. I have his Columbia 45s and I think I need to relisten to them as I am pretty sure I am going to buy the lost LP

Lou Christie - How Many Teardrops

I posted a Lou Christie 45 in 2010 and wrote I liked some of his songs. I would say that over the past 14 years I have become a bigger Lou Christie fan. I think he was very underated, and his 1960's records seem to have wonderful production and sound great. I picked both these up this past summer and dug out some great looking Roulette sleeves for them. I definately won't wait 14 years for the next Lou Christie upload
