Going Quiet But Don't Forget the Fundraiser and Tournament!

Hi all,
I will be going quiet on here, Facebook and the Wayland Blog for the next couple of weeks due to a ton of work that I need to catch up on. I should be back to normal by the end of the month though.

But while I'm gone, don't forget about out Little Heroes Charity Fundraiser for the Down Syndrome Association.
Lots of model entries and lots of prizes have come in already so check out the main post and take part to help out! Deadline for minis to be in is Oct 21st.

There is also the Batman Day Tournament in a couple of weeks with lots of goodies on offer.
Knight models posted this about it a couple of days ago.

"Like many of you already know, on September 26th, DC comics and Knight Models want to celebrate the Bat-Day with a special worldwide event with five differents tournamets located in Canada, Spain, U.K. and U.S.A.

These tournaments will have different activities like cosplay contest, draws for all the participants, painting course, and much more!

DC comics and Knight Models have donated more than $1200 in prizes for each tournament, such prizes will be:

On the part of DC comics, the prizes will consist of different comics based on DC universe and Knight Models will donate rulebooks, miniatures and terrain for the Batman Miniature Game.

Today we would like to introduce the events for the U.K. and Canada and their organizers.

U.K. event:

Bearing in mind that the day of the tournament it’s the same day as Bat-Day, there can be no better place to the host the UK leg of the tournament than Wayne Manor, home of Bruce Wayne and Batman In the Christopher Nolan movie: The Dark Knight Rises. Animosity Wargaming events bring you to Wayne Manor to take part in the Batday- tournament.

The link below will take you to the online event pack which has all of the information you require for the tournament.

Will you be taking part in either event?

Back soon,

Little Heroes Charity Fundraiser is now LIVE!

Hi all and welcome to the Little Heroes for Little Heroes charity fundraiser for the Downs Syndrome Association.

As some of you may know, almost two years ago our son Nathan was born with Downs Syndrome. He also had several linked medical conditions. This made the first year, to put it bluntly, hard and terrifying! Not knowing what the doctors were going to say next.

But, we have had an AMAZING support network around us for Nathan. Doctors, nurses, therapists, Portage workers and more. They have supported our family through everything that has happened over the last couple of years and helped understand Nathan's needs.
Because of this we wanted to do something in return. Little Heroes was then born!

So, What is Little Heroes?
For this fundraiser we are asking for people to paint up some Hero or Villain miniatures and donate them. These will then be gathered up and auctioned off here on ToaTS with ALL proceeds going to the Downs Syndrome Association.

We also have the backing of a few gaming companies that have donated some great prizes for those taking part.
Lots of MDF Scenery from Multiverse Gaming
2 Paint Racks from Impudent Mortal
Bases and minis from Fenris Games
Harley Crew, Killer Frost and Arkham Inmates from Knight Models
Deathstroke Metallic Funko Pop from Limited Edition Comix
Marvel Figure Pods from Delabole Spar
TTCombat Digicore tower, Court of Owls + Markers, Hush, Firefly and Lobo from Andrew Bruce
Batman Mini Game Rulebook,  Arkham Legends AK Batmobile from Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher
Ironman x2 from Andrew Campbell

These won't be for the usual 1st, 2nd etc though. They will go for things like most models donated, most fitting model, most raised at auction, most spent at auction and so on.

If you want to take part by painting a Hero, the deadline to get them in is November 27th and they need to be sent to-
Hendybadger
Tales of a Tabletop Skirmisher
Grain Cottage
Pengelly
Delabole
Cornwall
PL33 9AN

If you would like to get in touch or maybe you run a company that would like to take part, you can contact via email at hendybadger@btinternet.com or via the Facebook page in the box on the top right.

Once the models are in, the auctions will go live on November 28th for a week. More info on that closer to the time.

The original deadline before the extension did have meaning. October is international Downs Syndrome Awareness Month and the 21st is because of chromosome 21, the cause of Downs Syndrome.
But letting more people get involved is much more important than having it on the right day.

To get everyone started, we already have our first donations. Arkham Origins Deathstroke from Luke Tickle.

Mega Man from Andrew Brown

Two Face crew plus extra Henchmen from Adam Russell Reeves.

Metal Man, Hellboy, TMNT, Rocket and Groot by WJ

Club BURNZ by Phil

Comic Harley by ZAB

Thing by Neil

I really hope this goes well and PLEASE spread this around as much as possible.

Back with more on this soon. I need to decide what to paint!

Little Heroes for Little Heroes Charity Fundraiser

Between August and the end of October, ToaTS will be running a charity fundraiser for the Downs Syndrome Association.

The reason behind this is that out son was born just under two years ago with Downs Syndrome and several associated medical problems.
Over the last couple of years we have been amazed at the support and back up there is out there for children with DS. Between the Portage workers, hospital staff and therapists they cover every worry and need you may have.
Because of all this we want to give something back and ToaTS seems like the ideal platform to do that.

The idea behind Little Heroes for Little Heroes is that people donate painted Hero miniatures and they all get auctioned off with every penny going to the Downs Syndrome Association.
As an added incentive, we are hoping a few gaming companies will help us out with some goodies. These will be given away as prizes for things like best painted, most raised, highest donation and such. Some could even be auctioned off as well.
A couple of companies like Impudent Mortal and Multiverse Gaming have already stepped forward with goodies including terrain and paint racks.

If this sounds interesting to you please spread it around. The more gamers and companies that see this and take part, the more we raise for a fantastic cause!!!!!

More on this soon.

The winners have 3 weeks to pay via the 'Donate' button at the top of the page. Deadline is Jan 12th 2013.. Including the mini name, their own name and address so I know where things need to go!
The 3 weeks to pay takes it past the holidays so no reason to panic.
As this is a charity fundraiser, I do ask that people include £1 for UK postage per mini and £2 for International postage per mini.
To claim your prize, use the 'Contact Hendybadger' link at the top. Again, as this is all for charity I do ask if you can help out with postage. If not, its fine. I will just been sent abit later when I can afford to send it.

Now for the reason this has all taken place.
Cancer Research UK and The Breast Cancer Campaign will be sharing the proceeds of this auction.
Which is a grand total of...........................
Drumroll please ...............................

£275!!!!!

Once again, thank you to everyone that has been involved in raising this awesome amount. It means a lot to a lot of people!

The Hendybadger will be signing out for a few days now. My son was only a few weeks old last Christmas but this year he is into everything. Its going to be sooooooooooooooooo much fun.
Hope you all have a good time over the holidays.
See you when I get back.
