Almost finished...

 It has been a long day.  This morning we lost one of our goats, Cocoa.  She was our favorite and it has been really hard on Hunter as they were play buddies.  :(

Here is my progress so far on my Anchor's Aweigh quilt.  I stretched out the first 4 rows on Andrew's bed to see how it would fit.  I am pleased with how it is turning out. 

 Here are rows 5 and part of 6 up on my design wall.  It is 1am so I figured it was time to stop for the night.

 I hope to get all of the rows finished tomorrow and ready to sew them together.  

While working this, I have several bow ties finished too.  I've made 42 for the month so far and a total of 558 so that puts me a little over halfway.  I still need to press them open. 

 Last night I crocheted this Sashay ruffle scarf.  It didn't take me too long.  I'm anxious to wear it.  I have a dress that I would like to wear it with Sunday at Church.  I think I will make a few more of them as they don't take that long. 

 Going to try to get some sleep in a bit.  Richard is working tonight so I never sleep well when he is gone.  Mom is flying in tonight from work too.  Actually she landed a few hours ago and has about a 3 hour drive home.  I'm excited to see her.  I miss her when she is gone.

Lots of sewing going on...

I'm feeling really good about the past couple of days of sewing! I got all of my string blocks pieced and the top sewn together! I'm satisfied with the size of it now, it will fit my bed. I promise that the borders are not that wavy. LOL! Monday afternoon Hunter started asking a million questions about when we could move in the new house. Well we still have a little way to go before we can do that but we made him happy by "camping" in the house. We packed up blankets, pillows, drinks, snacks and a portable DVD player for Hunter and stayed in the house. It was fun! The only room that doesn't have a bunch of tools and saws in it is my sewing room! So we spent the night in my sewing room! Hunter slept on the love seat and Richard and I shared a rollaway bed. Here is Hunter snoozing away...Actually we stayed up there last night too! Maybe that is why I am getting a lot of sewing done! LOL! Here is Festus while I was working on my string quilt, he was wanting some attention.If you look close you can see a place on his nose, I guess he has been fighting again. Last night while we were staying out there I got out my Civil War Wreaths UFO. This was started with a free pattern by Mary. I had to change my color placement a little from the original because of the yardage that I had. I was sorting through the box and I could have sworn that I had more of it cut out and pieced. I put it away because I didn't want to recut what I knew I already had...somewhere.

Next I got out another UFO. My spiderweb blocks. I had several of these done but needed to pieced more of them to get the 30 blocks that I wanted. I want to do a 5x6 setting, that will make a nice bedsize quilt. When I started this quilt I picked the ugliest scraps that I had so that I could get rid of them and use them up. Here I have a few of the blocks out so you can get an idea of how it will look. I still need to purchase fabric for the pieces between the blocks, which are just triangles sewn on 4 corners and a border. Not sure what I want yet but I'm thinking maybe a red. I'll know when I see it. So this one will be set aside until I get the fabric to set it up with and I still have to peel the paper from the backs of them. I'll do that a little bit at a time as I'm watching tv during the evening. That gives me something to do with my hands.

This morning after breakfast we all set in and got the animals fed. Here is Cocoa munching on some leaves. She is so funny! She is my favorite goat! She is so playful, she runs and jumps constantly. Hunter gets her out and plays with her almost everyday. I'm thinking....she may have a baby somewhere along September. We'll have to wait and see...

After breakfast and feeding the animals, I was on a mission to find those missing pieces to my Civil War Wreaths.....I found them!!! As you can see there are a ton of 1/2 square triangles that need to be pressed and the papers peeled from the backs. I do love sewing my triangles on paper they come out wonderfully. So this is what I will be working on. This quilt will be a huge one I think the blocks that I have planned will make it just shy of 100 inches square.
I'm loving that I can actually see what I have to work on instead of having to dig through every tub and tote that I own and destroy the closets in the process. Now I have some major house cleaning to do before I can get back to quilting. :( My sister is picking up a different type of cotton batting for me this evening after work so that I can try it with that antique quilt that I mentioned the other day. I'm hoping this will help, wish me luck! I'm hoping to get it quilted this weekend!!

Thank Goodness it's over!

Well the weekend didn't go how I had planned. Got hit with a kidney stone late Friday night. All I can say is.....OH MY! I finally passed it earlier today. This is the first one that I had ever had and I can say I really don't want anymore of them!!! Luckily I was able to pass it on my own here at home. Now on to the rest of the weekend...of course I didn't get any quilting done. I really didn't do anything but cry and pace the floor. Hunter and Cocoa had a nice day of playing in the yard on Saturday. She is so funny and I love to watch them play together. Oh, Hunter named the other two goats....Sweetie and Fudge! I don't have a clue how he come up with those but he did. These goats in this photo belong to a friend of ours. They have a bunch of them and Hunter loves going down there to play with them. He just climbs over the fence and runs around with them. They love it too!After a busy day of playing with the farm animals, Hunter got some snuggle time with Smokey. Smokey is my baby, he is the sweetest little dog and he follows me everywhere that I go. If I get up to go to the bathroom he goes with me. Since the weather has turned off cold again, I had to put Smokey and Jazz some clothes back on, they freeze, especially Jazz. Richard worked on the house. It killed me that I was not able to go out there and work too, I am really getting anxious to get this stuff done. He got the girls room done and it is now ready for tape, mud and sanding. Their room is the same size as Andrew's, 16x20, it is just a mirrored image of his. Hopefully tomorrow things will be back to normal. I had planned on getting the customer binding finished and delivered to her on Monday but since my problem with the kidney stone I didn't even touch it. I tried but I just could not sit there long enough to get anything done. We will see how it goes tomorrow... Kristie

Meet the Girls!

Our little farm got a couple new additions today! We've had Cocoa, our milk goat for a while and love being able to have fresh milk. She and Hunter are big buddies too, he takes her out in the yard and she plays with him like she is a dog or something. It is soooooo cute! Anyway, here are the new additions that made their way on our farm this evening... They are Lamancha goats just like Cocoa. They have great tasting milk. Haven't named them yet, but Hunter is thinking of names for them. I love how excited he gets over getting new farm animals.Here is Cocoa, making sure that they know she is "the boss". The lighter goat that we got is her full sister and the darker one is some kin to her too. I'll get better photos of them all tomorrow when it is daylight.

Here is Festus way up in a tree. Not sure why but he was up there when we got back home.
Richard and I have been working our butts off in the house the past few days. This is what we finished today. This is Andrew's room. We got all the sheetrock up on the ceiling and walls and it is ready for the mud and sanding. Hopefully I will start taping the seams next week and Richard will go behind me mudding and sanding. This room is fairly big, it measures 16x20. The ceiling is angled with the roof. On the short end the ceiling is 7ft and the tall wall behind the headboard is a 12ft wall. I really got excited about getting this much of it done today so we had Andrew's bed stored out there (as you can see from all the dust on it) that I just had to set the bed frame up to see how it would look in this room.

We also got a few other things done out there too, but they were just small things. He did finally get my frame put back together for me. I think I will quilt a baby quilt of mine on it first just to make sure that nothing is out of whack on it from moving it. I have 2 customer quilt that I need to get done. If everything works out as I plan, I will start on those by the middle of the week.

I did get some hand sewing done today on a customer binding. I should have that ready to be delivered by Monday. I love working on binding, I find it really relaxing.

And now I will leave you with a photo of Donkey! He is sleeping with his big butt stuck in a lamp shade. This is Andrew's lamp, I'm sure he will be pleased to know that Donkey got his "butt crud" on it! LOL!!!

Life On The Farm and a little sewing!

I had such plans for today but seems like I just could not get my butt in gear. :( Hunter went back to school today and Richard left early to help some friends do some stuff so I had so many plans for today since it would just be me. First off, I planned on jumping in and cleaning up the house and sort through this pile of fabrics. But that never happened. This pile has a few blocks in it, fabrics pulled for various projects, some fabrics that just haven't been put away yet and lots of scraps! I guess I will just have to save this for another day. The bad part is.....this isn't the only pile of this that I have. Everything is just a mess.

So my day went pretty much like this...Got Hunter and Richard up early, fixed breakfast and got them both out the door. Took a few minutes to feel sorry for myself because I was alone, got a shower, watched some tv, took a nap, washed a few dishes, did 2 loads of laundry, took another nap, started supper, and that was pretty much it!!! Nothing that I had planned really got done. Oh well, I guess life goes on.

I did do a few more triangles while I watched tv this morning. Still working on those 600 needed for Bonnie's Mystery. I'm really liking this quilt!

Oh and I kept forgetting to post a photo of Cocoa the milk goat! I took these while I had the dogs out to pee. I didn't really get any good photos of her. She is such a sweet little thing and has the best goat's milk. Some goat's milk has a real strong taste to it but not hers. Can't really tell a difference between it and store bought whole milk. I haven't bought milk since we have had her. Now that the holidays are over and my hip is not as bad as it was, I plan on making some butter, cheese and maybe some soap! I'm kind of excited about that. Anyway she is a Lamancha goat, we are planning on having her bred soon.
Her utters are not big right now because we are trying to dry her up until we have her bred. But usually they almost drag the ground.
Richard and Hunter are already in the bed so I took some time to sew this block. Barbara Brackman has started a new blog called Civil War Quilts. She is doing a free sampler that will have something like 52 blocks, one a week. I'm really loving this too!

Tomorrow morning, mom has physical therapy so I will be taking her for that. So that will tie my morning up but I can't think of a better way to spend it....spending time with momma!!! I really need to get some small projects gathered up to work on while she is having her therapy and I am waiting on her. May have to dig those up this week.

Well, I guess I'm off to bed....it's 9:20PM :)
