Christmas-ed

So… time flies… it’s boxing day already…

Nothing much really exciting and interesting during this Christmas here… or can be said dull… 25 Dec is not even a public holiday in Russia, so we had to go for class also… Fortunately that Tuesday, my class just had an hour and half lecture and that’s all…

The most significant and joyful part of this Christmas for me must be our mini countdown celebration in hostel which was organized by our dear Mr. Ivan Khoo… Everyone who were invited need to prepare a small present for gift exchange… The gift exchange game's method was quite interesting too…which actually ended up rescuing me from getting a ‘plain & lousy’ gift but a nice cup… hehe ^.^

Anyway, well done to Ivan who successfully organized such event… I was actually surprised when I first stepped into the hall of that floor when I saw quite a number of people were joining…

Decoration of the celebration

All who attended

Finally, wishing my family, relatives, friends or just passer-by of my blog from any part of the world where you are living now, enjoy this special Christmas and New Year celebration time… Believe that joys and happiness are always in the end…

p/s: Nothing went wrong to our Earth, so it’s my another white Christmas this time…

Recently...

Huh… I have to admit my blog is damn boring… haha…
But here I am again… Will do some update bout recent life…

This weekend was a great one again… Largely due to yesterday (Saturday) was a holiday here so I no need to attend the half-day class on that day… Holiday because there was no water supply in all university buildings… No water supply means heaters in the room can’t function, and if the class goes on, we need to study in freezing cold condition…

It’s clear that winter has come and December is always the official first month of winter… But above is just one of the very few advantages of winter… Life in winter is really a torturing one… 3 months of hard time to go…

Due to holiday on Saturday, on Friday night, my roommate and I decided to do a ‘room-warming’ session by inviting all 8 of Malaysian Chinese 2nd year guys to cook and have a dinner in our room… The dinner session turned out wonderfully… The food and drinks were great; chit-chatting was fun too… Our badge has 8 Chinese guys only, a number which is much fewer if compare to other badges, but 8 of us are good friends and always have fun together… I’m truly grateful bout this… Btw, Cooking skills of everyone keep on improving and somehow have reached near-to-fantastic level already… haha…

Deepavali celebration which took place about 3 weeks ago had been a major topic for a while… The celebration actually was very good, with both food and performance were among the best of 4 celebrations that I had experience since first year here… But the next day, about 90% of Malaysian students here suffered at least some minor diarrhea…There must be problem in preparation of food... That day I went to toilet for 2-3 times which was considered a minor one ady ( coz I didn’t eat much…:) ) That case was a hot topic and heard that university not allow Malaysian students to do such celebration again… Means that next festival, CNY we can’t celebrate d la… Good that we all Chinese no need work hard to cook and prepare for the celebration, but festivals time here must be more boring if all these celebrations are really banned…

Finally… Christmas and New Year are coming soon… On other way it means that final exams are coming soon too… Then on another positive way it means that winter sem break holidays are coming soon also… This time my badge has about 2 weeks of holidays and as usual, a lot students are planning to travel abroad… So far I not yet finalize where I will go, but on top of the list is going to a theatre, it’s not a normal theatre, but it’s the ‘Theatre of Dream’. I will try to make it lah but planning a trip especially to Europe is really not an easy one…

After all, need to focus on studies first…

Refresh...

This weekend has been a quite relaxing one… even more relax than last weekend 3-day break, as the 2nd round of concluding test of my class had ended last weekend… not much stress and burden on studying during this weekend…

Therefore, next week can be considered as beginning of another round of the study life routine here… But for sure, as boring as always…:)

It had been quite some time i can’t have a true rest… Last week 3-day break though was considerably ‘long’, but still I spent too much time on activities and entertainment, plus preparing for tests… so, this week I really give myself a time to press ‘Alt + F5 ’ in my life, as it’s certainly still not enough time to do ‘Ctrl + Alt + Del’…

Haih… Recent life here really quite empty… Every time when I want myself to give some update to my blog, brain will be blank la…

Anyway, to have a positive refresh process, wanna show something which is promising…

It’s something that I almost totally forgot already --> Gold Medal (with the certificate as the background) of Moscow Games 2007… and after around half year only we finally received the medal few days ago, great efficiency of RSMU…;)

But… Late is still always better than never right… Besides a little bit small, looked not bad the design of medal though…

On The Break...

This weekend is a fantastic one for us here... because we are having 3 days off from saturday to monday due to public holidays!

So plus friday have only half day class, this is a quite long break for us consider that every week we are having class from monday till saturday and this is also our first time to have public holidays since we started this academic year...

It's time to slow down the pace of life and relax for a moment....
Unfortunately, have to prepare for few coming tests also...

Anyway, this break is always welcomed...

RG On The Run

Huh… It has been quite a time since I last updated my blog… but this blog is still on the run, so I’m here to do little update…

Second year 1st sem is not a relax one, but quite busy actually… and this recent time we have concluding tests of each core subjects coming one by one… Concluding test here is kind of an overall test after learning several chapters… but good news is now I just have one more concluding test left on the run… But it is Biochem, a truly tough subject (at least to me lar) plus a strict lecturer for my class… Biochem really make me very ‘big head’… hate memorize all kinds of chemical structure…

Russian class isn’t anywhere better either… This sem generally we are learning medical terms in Russian class… and it means a lot of new terms entering my life and I need to memorize and understand them… Sometime I think this is really stupid… wasting time to learn a new language plus all the detail scientific terms in this language while I’m still in struggle to cope with other medical-related subjects… and I bet I won’t use this language anymore after 6 years… Ok… anyway, I’m here and I have to do it…

Another interesting thing happened throughout this time is the arrival of juniors! This year the number of Malaysian juniors is very much… much much more than my badge… Sponsored students are in large number too… and this year JPA send about 22 students to here with 7 of them are Chinese… New life here when just came is difficult one, but almost all seniors did some parts to help them settle down…

This weekend, a long anticipated event is on the run… That is VSMU Malaysian Raya Open House!! Huhu… Time to enjoy great food and fun time of celebration… though we don’t have any Raya holidays…:(

I have been using ‘ on the run’ quite often… haha… because I guess this phase will soon become a hot phase… Why? Just wait and see…

Finally I managed to watch Jay’s ‘Secret’… Not bad to me… simple but sweet beginning, but an unexpected ending… ok… don’t ask me to comment bout movie… I’m poor in it…

Another hot topic recently is England football team is coming to Moscow this Wednesday for EURO 2008 qualifying match against Russia… The weather here is getting colder and colder and heard Moscow was snowing already since last few days… and Russia purposely arrange this decisive match to play on plastic field… So guess it will be a weird game… Let’s see how it will be going on…

Basically life here is always in routine without much special and interesting thing… But I will try update whenever possible...

Have a great life, friends!

Just another day...

Today morning did medical check-up... and no need to go for class after that... So great that everthing had done within 2 hours... so I can have plenty of free time... One special thing of medical check-up here was we need to give our fecal for examination and everything went well for me, no trouble to collect my that thing...:)

Slept very long at noon... But bunches of class preparation works never go away with the dreams... Haih... study comes around goes around everyday... endless...

Ok...2 more tough school days to go... anticipating for another weekend...

Doha, Qatar

Since tomorrow class is not that hectic, so I force myself to put little effort on my blog... This time, going to show some views and experience while I in Doha, capital of Qatar during 12-hour transit time there to fly back to Russia... Qatar Airline was not bad, despite of transit time is long, the company provided us nice hotel to rest plus 2 buffet lunch and dinner... Satisfied with their service, especially everything was done without too much of waiting...

Didn't go to many places and took lots pictures, mainly due to the weather outside in Doha is extremely hot, over 40C ! The most shocking experience was when we first stepped out from the airport, a series of hot air keep on coming to our face... just the same feel as we were in sauna...

Actually don’t have many interesting places to visit in Doha… Initially we had the idea to go to see dessert, but because of it is too far from the city and also the day was approaching evening and darker, we had to cancel off this plan… Anyway, it was a good experience to have a look on Arabian country which was long heard for their wealth due to the profit from petroleum… and yes, we noticed that the petrol there was sold RM0.60 per litre…

Well…the past summer holidays were a really enjoyable one to me… Instead of visiting Saint Petersburg before leaving Russia, I had also gone for some places and activities when I was back to Malaysia, and most important one was the precious time to be together with family…

Hopefully my next vacation will be during the coming winter holidays around the end of January… So, guys and girls here, don’t forget to invite me also if got any interesting plan to travel to Europe this coming holidays ya… :)

Second Year

This world is just too special… One week++ ago I was still enjoying happily in Malaysia, but now, I am back to this place which is many miles away from there... Things change very fast, especially the good ones…
This time the return flight was quite long…consuming nearly 3 days due to the long transit time…Anyway, we had chance to go around Doha, Qatar capital… This is my first time to have a sight on a Arab country… [ will post some pictures bout it later…hopefully…:) ]

Coming back to Volgograd this time, I’ve shifted to a 2-person room and stay together with a chinese coursemate… But the main concern is I have to move up to fifth floor from my previous fourth floor which I enjoyed so much throughout my first year here… However, think positively, this can be a good chance for me to know more Malaysian friends here instead of just sticking on the same friend circle everyday…

Well… just came back here few days I already feel bored of life here again… Russian language still is the main problem… Some more I just don’t like Russian class which is so so so boring and sleepy…haih…

Bout the weather pula… Now is in the ending of summer… Basically during early morning and night time is quite cool, but during daytime is hot… So this weather is quite nice… Just sometime when in the classroom feel a little stuffy… Remember that most indoor places here don’t have fans or air-cond…

Ok…gotta sleep… Tomorrow class is quite hectic… 2 lecture in the morning and then will be my first ever hospital practical session…

Saw that some friends in Jakarta very appreciate the current good internet connection at their living place and update their blogs very often recently, I think I should appreciate my all-time good internet connection by posting a bit more also…haha… will try la… :)

Late Post from Malaysia…

Oh gosh…Actually I have been home for quite some time already… Home is so so so best, till I neglected here ady la…

What had I done since reaching Malaysia? Haha... almost anything that can’t be done in Russia… But whatever I do, I think I’m enjoying it very much…

Well… At first I thought I can write something and post some pictures during this holidays bout my trip to Saint Petersburg…but now really no mood to do it yet, lazy to go through all the process to post it… See how later la…

What I can say bout Saint Petersburg is it is a very beautiful city, and it’s a very different Russia’s city, not so typically ‘Russy’... and this city really suits its nickname as ‘Venice of the North’…

Ok… that’s all for this time…Enjoying holidays first… Hope those who are in holidays enjoy your time too…

13 July 2007

Halo from Saint Petersburg

Hi everyone... I'm back after 2nd sem exam finally finished... This time I'm blogging in a Saint Petersburg's hotel where we stay tonight.. We reached here this afternoon after a 24 hours long bus ride... That had broken my bus ride longest time record in my life already la...

Saint Petersburg is really very beautiful... This city is surrounded by many canals which make it seems very nice... Somehow I think here is better and nicer than Moscow...

This was just my first day here...we still have 4 days 3 nights to explore this city... A lot of interesting places and activities are awaiting us... but very tired and sleepy now... will share more pictures and experience when I return to Malaysia soon ya...

Wassup in Summer...

Since approaching summer, there is something special that appearing at anywhere nowadays... It's the stall that as shown in picture... selling a russian drink called 'kevas' ( or in russian is written as 'KBAC' as can see on the stall)...

Well, don't know how to really describe the taste of this drink... The colour is somekind of light brown... Then the taste to me is like kind of lemon tea + beer... haha... but most people said got the taste of bread... though I can't really feel it... but I don't really like this drink la...so rarely drink after the first try...

Anyway, this drink is made from fermeanted bread... this drink should be really got added some alcohol inside as malays said it's non-halal drink... and nowadays can see this kind of stalls at everywhere, especially popular places such as bus stops...

As can see in picture, the stall is quite old-fashioned... Russia is crazy lo... They like to stick on old thing...That's why most of thing here seem not so developed and nice...

This week the weather drop back to around 20C again... crazy but it's very nice when walking outside...

03 June 2007

Summer Time…

One common phase, well…time flies… It’s June already! One more month to go to be back to home… But shitty exams come first…So now wanna copy a friend's phase, time flies, but I hope it flies faster... haha...

Actually since last 2 weeks, one word keep on appearing in my mind, which is ‘HOT’… though on theory June only consider as the beginning of summer season, but last 2 weeks the weather here is damn hot, few days ago even approaching 40C! Bear in mind, that was just when still in spring… There was no wind, no rain but just dry air and scorching hot and super bright sunshine…and everyone is sweating like hell most of time…Indoor here has no fan and air-cond, so normally we feel hotter and sweat more when in class rather than when at outdoor…This is CRAZY… Same to our hostel too, we have heater in room but no fan, so nowadays it’s a common scene seeing 1st year people here buying fan back to hostel…

However, today, Sunday, the temperature tiba-tiba drops to around 20C only…and it’s very windy pula… According to weather forecast, these coming few days the weather will be about the same also… Ohh…Russia is CRAZY! I’m like from Sahara suddenly to Genting pula… Anyway, now this 20C plus a bit windy weather is just too nice... though I guess I will be forced to be back to Sahara again soon…

Another interesting scene in summer is the daytime is very long…Sun rises as early as 4am, and the bright sky will last till 9pm something…

Final exams will begin in the end of this month and this sem we have 4 papers…Last paper is on 10 April… But most of my study time is forced to be spent on Anatomy and Histology, which both of them is not included in final exams this sem… and I almost never study Bio and Physics properly throughout this sem due to the lacklustre style of lecturers… Don’t know how am I going to sit for finals la… Russia is CRAZY….

46 days to reach home…now let’s unveil my travel schedule to go back home… If everything goes on plan, the next day I finish my exam which is 11 July, I will leave Volgograd and go for trip in another major Russia city, Saint Petersburg for 5 days… Then head to Moscow airport and take flight back to Malaysia on 17 July, and will reach Penang in the morning of 18 July!

Well, just now only discover actually Saint Petersburg stadium is the home stadium of Russia national football team which is now coached by great Guus Hiddink… Haha…but no relate to my trip there la… and congrates to my Manchester United for reclaiming league champion after 4 years… next season they will be better as now we have Owen Hargreaves, Nani and Anderson… All of them seem very promising and technically great…haha…

Ok… Happy holidays to those who are in paradise of holidays…
All the best to those who are in the hell of studying…

Moscow Malaysian Games 2007

Well… Quite a time never update… Study life really very hectic and busy… and perhaps, not really have something very interesting to crap also…

Just returned from Moscow for 4th Malaysian Games few days ago… The 2-day Games was held during Labour’s Day holidays and it is eligible for Malaysian students in Russian universities…

This year Games’ organiser was Russian State Medical University… 6 universities took part in the Games and 13 gold medals were being offered… Volgograd State Medical University sent a contingent of 93 people and emerged as Overall Runners-up in the end with 4 gold medals ( table tennis male, netball, basketball both male and female ), 3 silvers ( table tennis female, futsal both male and female) and 2 bronzes ( sepak takraw & volleyball male). But most of us sure not very satisfied as we lost overall champion to Kursk State with difference of just 1 bronze medal only… Argh…

Ok…so, I took part in table tennis and as mentioned above, my team won Gold medal! The format of table tennis competition is like Thomas Cup system which requires 3 singles and 2 doubles and 1 player can play maximum 1 single and 1 double… Here is my contribution to the team: won all my single and double matches except 1 double match against Moscow Medical Academy… Unfortunately, the medals not yet ready and the organizer unable to give us the actual medals during prize-giving ceremony… Anyway, don’t worry, I will show the medal here once I receive it…hehe…

The standard of table tennis in this Games was not really high… maybe I’ve seen too much in Penang state level competition… All I need to do was actually to use my experience and advantage on speed to hit the ball over safely and force the opponents to make mistakes themselves… Anyway, I have to admit I did a little bit nervous in the beginning of first few matches… Besides, have to admit that luck has played a large part in our route to victory too…

Thank you to all my 3 other teammates... This is a team game and everyone in the team had made their worthy contributions… Thanks to all the supporters also… and A very special thank to our captain, Ivan! Thank you for working really hard to guide the team in training and during the competition… I think the overall result of 1 gold and 1silver from table tennis certainly was a very good recoup to all your sacrifice…

Throughout this Moscow Games, everyone really had fun and enjoyed… We supported and cheered our uni players in all sports whenever they played, although our supporters’ voice not as loud as that 2 uni which played on their homeground… What I can say is the spirit was really amazing! Sports can really make people united… We knew new friends from different universities and also become closer to our uni’s friends… The closing ceremony which held in Malaysia embassy at the last night rounded off the great memory of this year Malaysian Games… But that party which termed ‘Garden Party’ was a crazy one also la… It was held at outdoor but the weather at that time was really chilly cold… Everyone dressed nicely in formal but ended up covering ourselves in jackets and coats…

Malaysian Games is really a successful and meaningful event… It enables Malaysian students to meet together and have fun in the midst of hectic study life… Well… Next year will be the turn of Nizhny Novgorod Medical University to be the host! That’s one of the Russia’s city that I really wish to go too… If no any problem, hopefully I will be there to meet friends and of course, to defend our gold medal… See u all in Nizhny!

25 March 2007

It's 20th Birthday!

Again… the date on calendar reached 25 March… The memory of last year birthday when I celebrated this wonderful day by watching ‘I’m Not Stupid II’ in Sunway Pyramid and followed by trip to Ipoh was still clearly in my mind, but here come my 20th birthday!

Well… This year birthday was my first birthday outside the land of Malaysia… but I think it was the most eventful birthday so far in my life …

Right after the end of 24 March, my JPA 1st year friends did a small party for me… Actually this has become our tradition already as whenever anyone of us birthday, 11 of us will gather together at midnight of that day… Actually this gives just 11 of us the opportunity to gather and chat together as we have been separated into 2 different classes and thus have different daily activities… Whenever we gather together, I felt that we lay a heart of appreciation and gratefulness as all of us had gone through together the tough 1 year college life and difficult time during our Indonesia university crisis… Oh ya…this time I got 2 birthday cakes …one is the halal cake as usual…and a senior bought me a cake with alcohol content…He meant I’m 20 and grow up already wo…

At noon, our first year course mate, Bahani did open floor party for celebrating New Year in her religion (don’t know how to spell that religion name, is a minority religion in Malaysia I guess)… and she said sambil celebrate my birthday too… So, have the chance to eat a nice lunch… the chicken and vegetables they cook were really great…

Then, at tea-time hour, 7 other first year coursemates from Penang (plus me is 8, 7 Chinese and 1 Indian who is my roommate) went to Rivera (a Russian fast-food restaurant here) to celebrate my birthday… very full after that… and I’m sure all guys had enjoyed a good moments of crapping there…

At night, my another roommate, Bala together with my classmate, Sayleni cooked dinner for my birthday… The meals were sambal prawn and spinach… Thanks both of them…

Another special thing occurred on my birthday was this day was the beginning day where Russia’s time adjust from GMT +3 to GMT +4 due to daytime in Spring and Summer is longer… It means that we lost 1 hour today…implied that my birthday was actually 23 hours long only… and today was the first match day of the brand new season VSMU Malaysian students’ Football League too… I didn’t join the competition but went to watch the league as spectators lo… Interesting matches today…and the start of the league means we will have a little bit more entertainment in our boring Sunday life here…

That’s all for what happened during my birthday…The best parts were I ate 4 times lo… and I received 2 very great presents… My classmates bought me a Nike Man Utd sports accessories’ bag... while another JPA class friends bought me a Reebok cap… Thanks lots guys…I really like the presents very much!
I will try to upload some pictures of my birthday after my first 3 hectic days in this week…

Well… except thanks, I really don’t know how to express my appreciation to all of you… Thanks a lot my JPA friends for the midnight party… Thanks Bahani for her lunch… Thanks Ivan, Boon Ping, Kok Xian, Shin Ling, Fong, Heah and Ramesh for inviting me out and treating me the meal in Rivera… Thanks to everyone who wish me for my birthday, whether through coming to me, sms, msn message, or calling… I’m really very touched with everything you all had done… This was really a very warm birthday though I’m in a foreign country… It's great too that my 1st birthday here fall on Sunday...

Due to my birthday, for every seconds of time u all had spent, for every money you all had spent, for every wish you all had sent, for every happiness you all had shared and for every sincerity you all had given… once again, a very very THANK YOU!

Currently in my mind have no any huge hope for my 20 year old… Just wish I can go through this year smoothly, happily, peacefully and full of wonderful memories…

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MYSELF… HAPPY ALWAYS!

A little Updates...

So so sooo fast, it’s March already…but it means that I’m moving nearer to the day I can go back to home…Another 4 months to go…

It had been quite a time that I didn’t update my blog already… Actually it doesn’t mean that I don’t really have free time in between of this hectic 2nd sem, but sometimes just don’t feel like to write during the spare time…

Everything still goes on well, and perhaps, getting better and better… Those not really in satisfactory and expectations, we have no choice but must try to adapt it…

Well…8th March was Women’s Day… Last time when in Malaysia, this day was just like a normal day… But it’s totally different here…It was an official Russia public holiday… and Russians, particularly guys have the tradition to give female flowers, cakes and gifts on that day… Flowers were sold everywhere since few days before Women’s Day… As an appreciation, today my class bought a cake and some drinks to celebrate this special day with our current Russian Language’s teacher, Olga Petrovna today...(actually this was also our tactic to waste some time as our Friday’s Russian class is 4 hours long! hehe…) Our class also prepare some ‘kanflets’ ( a kind of Russian’s chocolates that are packed like sweets) as gifts to several female lecturers…

During the half way of Russian class, teacher brought us together with two other classes to Planetarium… Erm… the images that were projected to the screen on the roof were attractive and nice, but the main problem was we can’t understand the description that spoken in Russian… It made this trip ended up in a very boring feel…

Oh ya…Chinese New Year had ended…and the major celebration here which was Malaysians’ Students CNY Celebration that took place on 24 Feb ended successfully… The food that all was cook by Chinese students was good… Our ‘Tang Yuan’ taste nice too… The decoration and performance were very interesting also… That celebration was really great and fun!

By the way, the date of Malaysians’ Games has been announced…It will be held on 29 April and 30 April where Russian State Medical University, Moscow will be the host… The line-up for the table tennis team has been decided…it means that end of next month I will go to Moscow again! This time go with the whole sports team and under the name of my university… I knew that past results of VSMU table tennis team in previous Malaysians’ Games were among the worst in all sports, but I think this time we have a better team compared to past few years, and we really hope we can get something great back this time… Anyway, it is still about 1 and half month to go and we need to continue our training consistently…

Lastly, after waiting for almost half an year, the last group of my KUTPM JPA course mates finally flies to Manipal India tonight to begin their twinning medical programme there… There are quite many friends among this group whom I had lots of fun together with during our college time… Wish u all good luck and all the best there! Heard there have the convenience of online, so…see u all on MSN lo…

18 February 2007

This is Moscow... I was There...

First of all…Happy Chinese New Year to everyone…specially greeting from Russia…

Though this was considered quite a long time ago already, but finally this time I post something bout my journey to one of the main cities in Europe and capital city of Russia, Moscow during the semester breaks…

Firstly, I want to thank all the members of this trip, including Ivan, W.Fong, Wei Keong, plus Jeremy, Zuo Lin, Kar Wei and Aruna(seniors who came back from trip to Austria and Germany then meet us in Moscow)… Thanks a lot for inviting me to join this trip… Besides, thanks lots to Ivan’s friend in MMA, Zhi Yang and his course mates Xin Yun and Elisa ( both of them are JPA 1st year students too, from Penang also… the most amazing thing of them is not they get 700USD of monthly allowance, but was they just returned from England where they spent their winter break there…Gosh! I not even have time to go out of this Russia…) Thank you for being our tour guide in Moscow. Oh ya, thanks to Ah Fook too who let us to stay in his large room at Hostel Sportivnaya while we are there… Each of us just needs to pay 100roubles only per day (bout RM15) for this accommodation… Our hostel facilities standard really no way off their standard…

Well…What can I say bout Moscow is this city is fantastic! We went there by bus which took 16 hours to reach…and we went to those famous tourist sites in Moscow such as Red Square, Kremlin and Albat Street… The Albat Street is so nice to have a leisure walk where the street is very broad just for pedestrians and on each side of the street are shops selling different kinds of souveniors and clothes… However, Moscow winter was very cold and we were quite suffering throughout the day as we spent whole day traveling at outdoor in the first day of the trip…

Of course, we didn’t forget to go to hyper shopping complex and IKEA here as there is no such heaven in Volgograd… At that time is still the period of Winter Sales, a lot of things are in sales and we bought quite many stuff, especially from IKEA…We ate quite many times at McDonald too as we had been months never eat McD…Our main transport while in Moscow is the metro train and its system is very good… Furthermore, all the metro stations are built with a lot of special and beautiful crafting and decorations…

We returned to Volgograd by train which took around 20 hours... but it was quite fun traveling in train with group of friends... Before we return, we went to China Street in Moscow to have a great lunch at a chinese restaurant… sooo long time didn’t eat such delicious food already…and the price was very reasonable too…

By the way, I think Moscow study life style won’t really in my favour… too much time-consuming traveling! Some more those shopping complex are quite far away from the hostels and surely it is very inconvenient to buy and carry lots of stuff while need to traveling by metro and walking a lot…

So… I’m not studying in Moscow and Moscow had leave a great impression and memory in my mind forever…

2nd Sem is super… crazy…

Well… my 2nd sem here will soon enters its second week…This sem’s time table is really super crazily hectic…Basically, classes are from 8am to 6pm everyday, even Saturday’s class is until 4pm… Not forgotten, we need to travel from one place to another place for different classes everyday…

What to do except facing it with a strong heart? Perhaps this is a great preparation for future as we may need to work much more hours per day as doctor…

The end of first sem has allowed me to realize how’s the uni exam system going on here… It’s something hard to explain because you never know what will happen… Just wanna remind myself that no matter what happen here, it certainly isn’t very harmful, because my life still has a long far way to go, here will never be the end of everything…

By the meantime, I don’t want myself to give up enjoying my life here instead of just lifting the burden of studying… I begin to push myself to have more interaction with people here and try to join any interesting activities whenever possible…

Just went for a trip in the capital city of Russia, Moscow last week during holidays…and Moscow is absolutely marvelous… I will try posting a brief report and some pictures bout Moscow soon…

Chinese New Year is coming soon…but this will be the first ever time that I can't celebrate it in my hometown… No atmosphere of Chinese New Year at all here…

We will have public holidays on next Friday and Saturday (23 & 24 Feb) which is Men’s Day…and malaysian’s chinese students here will organize a party inviting all Malaysian students in Volgograd on 24 February ( Chu 7)… 1st year chinese students have been given the job to prepare ‘tang yuen’…We need to prepare for about 400 persons.... Must be a huge project…and I’m sure all of us will have lots of fun while making this dessert lo…

What’s Going On…

First of all, my very first semester here is very near to the end already… Next Wednesday is the final exam…We have only 1 final paper in first sem which is General Chemistry… but it’s a lot to read and memorize….

Next… in the evening of the day we finished exam, I will go to Moscow to have a trip with few coursemates and seniors… Though before reaching here, I had stayed in Moscow for 2 days, that time we didn’t even go anywhere except hotel, embassy and McD because our passports were held by the embassy…so…this time I wish to taste the real look of Moscow… Actually we have only 4 days semester break...and I don’t know whether it’s wise or not that I decide to join this 3 days trip… but I think that since this traveling opportunity comes to me, I should grab it…

That’s all for this time…should be final post in January…
Happy Holidays to those who are in holidays…and Good Luck to those who need to face exams…

2006 – Memories & Review

If I need to find a most suitable word to conclude my life journey in year 2006, I will say it was ‘DRAMATIC’…

For the most important part in 2006, I have given the chance to study in Russia, and it was a place that I never think of that I would come… When I made the wish for 2006 in the beginning of last year, I hope for the best life in Indonesia…but in the end, I got something I really never expect since I accepted JPA scholarship…

But all before the moment I knew that JPA would send me to study in Russia as solution of the problems, it was considered the darkest and most down part of my life in 2006… We suffered some unfortunate incidents in the placement of universities in Indonesia… Went through stupid and unreasonable entrance exams, unfair arrangement and the most frustrating one which was being offered to regular program which mean medicine in Indonesians language… That one-month time was really very hard and dishearten…

Others often say that there are always ups and downs in life…I truly experienced it in 2006… Now, when I review my 2006, what I can say is when I need miracle the most, the miracle happened… at least to me, take up medicine in English medium in Russia is much better than medicine in Indonesian medium in Indonesia…

So… now look back from the very beginning of 2006… First half of the year I continued my pre-med studies in KUTPM… Apart of the struggling and terrifically hectic course plan from college, my after-school life there was actually getting nicer and more interesting…I enjoyed lots of funs mingling with friends there, especially the last 3 months… We really had very much enjoyment treasuring KL, particularly all the shopping complexes there… As all of us agreed, we miss nothing after the end of pre-med in KUTPM except our valuable friendship… Those memories will always in my mind…

In mid June, the course finished…and the week after our last paper in final exams it was psychology course which was compulsory for JPA scholars…and that week I think was the climax of the life in college where we had very much free time to hang around in hostel and KL, and most importantly, during that time, World Cup Germany 2006 was in progress…

Frankly…since mid June to near the end of July (till I get the news that we would be sent to Russia), though I was in holidays, World Cup was getting hotter and hotter and I went to Langkawi for trip with few college’s friends, I actually never fully enjoy the holidays in relax mood… The worry of uncertainty of future keeps on wandering in my mind… and by the time my future was confirmed can be in a satisfying progress, I had to grab the little time to prepare for flying to such a far country…

At last phrase of 2006, I spent it in a Russia’s city called Volgograd…and this will be the city where I will be in for the next 6 years… This was a brand new experience in my life…Living in a 4-season country, learning a totally new language, get started another new friend’s relationships, adapting to life as medicine student and going through a lot of western-style things that are very different than in Malaysia… Life in Russia is still very new, I hope it will become better and better…

There are some wonderful and unforgettable special occasions in 2006 that I will remember for a very long time if not forever… My last year birthday was a memorable one…a lot of KUTPM friends organized a small party and celebrated with me… then on that weekend we had a trip to Ipoh and really enjoyed that trip… Besides that, countless outings with friends while studying in college were all leave nostalgia to me… watching movies, lepak-ing, eating, mamak-ing, crapping and many many more were all so fun… not forgotten also, our Chinese New Year large steamboat night in the hostel where almost all Chinese guys joined it and had a great fun dinner… and also, my farewell steamboat dinner with my high school’s friends before I fly which proved to be my last meeting with my friends in Penang in 2006…

Regretfully, I realized that my time to meet with Jit Sin’s friends who I used to so enjoy life with them is getting fewer and fewer since last year… Everyone has separated and headed to their own next destination of life…

I really tasted a variety of flavour of life in 2006… but its content has gone now…all it left are the fantastic memories from sweet flavour and valuable experiences from sour and bitter flavour, or even flavourless…

I appreciate every happiness that you all have shared and given to me over last year… Thanks God for ending my year 2006 in a satisfied way too…

2007 VSMU International Students' Games

Receiving prize from Dean of International Students

Let me kick off my blog in year 2007 with something inspiring…

Actually from 30 December 2006 to 7 January 2007 is our one-week new year holidays… Meanwhile, our university’s 2007 International Students’ Games was taking place and the Games just ended yesterday…

On 4 January (Thursday), table tennis competition was scheduled to begin … and I was involved in that game… After half day of hard-fought competition, I managed to emerge as runners-up in this competition… Lost to a Vietnamese fifth year senior in the decisive match… He is technically marvelous and I can’t really give him any strong challenge throughout the match… So, I have no any regret as it was a match that I should lose…

Anyway…I was indeed very satisfied with my result... Some more I already rarely have the regular training since these recent 2 years… In addition, my coursemate who is also good in table tennis, Ivan won 3rd place… So, as we are just first year juniors, this result is very promising…

At the final day of the Games, we attended the prize-giving ceremony… The prize is a photo album... Though university didn’t present medals which may have more memorable value to the winners, I still very appreciate this prize as this is my very first sports’ award in my university life in Volgograd…

This was a very enjoyable and fun Games… Students from various countries met together in different sports such as futsal, basketball, volleyball, netball, table-tennis, badminton, etc…

University Games was over… My next target, represent Malaysian’s students of VSMU and play well (hopefully Gold Medal) in 2007 Russia Universities Malaysians’ Games which Russian State Medical University, Moscow will take the turn to organize it around April this year …
