Our life with a puppy.

Hello!

I feel like I've not managed any work in forever but I did manage to get these 3 made last week... Or was it the one before?

And yesterday I managed a little bit of work on a new bunny. Hoping to finish him soon!

Time seems different now and almost every minute is spent with the puppy, or at least thinking about her! It is very difficult to settle into something, even when she is asleep. I have to rest when she does most of the time or I can't keep up with her when she's awake. ;) Today we've had her back in her playpen to try and settle her into a routine, and to curb the aggression and bossiness she's been having!

My lovely friend Jessica recently posted this wonderful photo of the little bear I sent her with the amazing Baz at Stonehenge! I'm not sure if I'm more in awe or more jealous that he's more cultured than I am. :D I absolutely loved seeing this and it makes my heart swell with so much pride that he's having lots of adventures. :) Plus, I absolutely adore Baz, isn't he handsome?

Last Wednesday we took Zelda out in her crate for her first bus trip and also to the vets.

She was an absolute angel! I don't think she cried once on the way and she got her first glimpse of the sea too. :) At the vets she was perfect and only cried when she got her microchip put in... But no wonder, that needle was huge! She's now had her first vaccination. Everyone cooed at her and she was so adored. We were so proud of her. <3

On Friday my parents came to meet her for the first time. She was sleeping when they arrived, so I thought she'd be crazy hyper when they got here.

She was a little nervous, since the only other visitor we'd had so far was a man come to read the electric meter and she did not like him! But after a little gentle coaxing she settled a little bit and let them pet her. She was doing so well that we thought we'd try her in the car and see how she did. We took her to the beach in the village I used to live in and she really enjoyed being carried about in her crate like a princess!

In just a few more weeks she'll have her second vaccination and a bit after will be ready for walks. I so can't wait. I know she's going to love it!

Speaking of love! She just loves to kiss daddies nose. LOL. (Click the picture below to play video.)

A few days ago we gave her a worming tablet and last night we found that she did indeed have worms. :( Poor thing, they were huge for such a tiny tummy! To my horror they passed through her and were still alive... I'd really expected them to be dead. Yuck.

Thankfully I didn't have nightmares and was having a niceish dream about David Tennant, till about 5am when she woke me needing to pee. :) Although she's actually pretty good about holding it till the morning some nights!

My friend and customer sent me this lovely photo of the purple elephant her husband bought her for her birthday, which is tomorrow, Happy Birthday Di! There's also one of my sloths and an orangutan too! Plus, check them out, they're Harry Potter fans as well. :)

My little fluffy face is doing well and she's been doing great with daddy and the clicker training. Soon we'll start trying to get her used to her harness so walking her will go a bit smoother when she can go out. So far all she's tried to do is bite at it when we put it on her.

Oh, but she does need a bath! She likes to sit in her pee after she's done it, with her wee tail wagging happily. LOL. :) She's been bathed before and wasn't keen, but hopefully now she knows what to expect it'll go smoother. Have to keep her looking fresh as she's so beautiful. :)

Welcome, Zelda.

I've missed more Sunday's, I apologise.

Life is very different now. We finally have our puppy. :) Everything else has gone out of the window while we try to find our routine!

Her name is Zelda and she is the most beautiful thing! She's playful and loving and funny and crazy and pretty and oh my goodness is she cute! We sometimes just look at her and then at each other and we are both smiling with so much love for her in our eyes. She's turned our lives upside down, in a good way.

No longer can we sleep till we feel like it, she wakes us a few times during the night and she gets us up in the morning and then it's a crazy half hour of trying to get her to pee and poop in the correct place. She gets so excited when she does it right, and she has a special treat just for toilet training!

I've learned that her toilet time, especially in the morning, is a 2 person job. More often than not, just after I've been praising her for peeing in the right spot and then when I go to clean it up and turn back to her she has already pooped in the wrong place. The poor thing, she's having to learn so much and she's so young still, it must be very confusing. It certainly is for us too!

She knows her name and she's learning to sit and lie down. She doesn't eat much so we can give her little bits of kibble as rewards for learning. She seems to prefer it to eating a normal meal in her bowl most times.

I feel like I walk like John Wayne now as she loves to get under your feet when you're walking, or between them. I have to walk really slow and to make sure I look at where she is at all times.

She snores softly, but she's never truly settled and she moves around a lot during nap times. It's been so difficult to get her to sleep in her bed but she's doing better now.

She absolutely hates her crate and cries (screams) the whole street down when in it. She's so loud, it's hard to believe it's her making all that noise! She's currently been sleeping on our bed with us while we figure out a new plan.

She loves to give kisses. She likes my chin and Martin's nose. It's important to keep your mouth shut tight the whole time as she kisses enthusiastically!

She hates loud noises, especially crows, seagulls and passing buses. She's really not keen when the freezer is opened and she doesn't like being in the kitchen when someone is cooking or prepping food.

She likes play times but she's getting a little bored of all her toys already! Her favourites have been an empty toilet roll and an empty bottle of juice. LOL. :)

When she is in the mood for her toys she's likes to chase, bite and shake them. She likes tug of war and gets a good little growl on when playing. (Video below, click to play.)

She likes to attack her bed more often than sleeping in it and she has a bit of a bark when she wants to! She will bark if she wants more attention from one of us, or if she's not happy with something, also during play. (Video below.)

But when she's good she is a darling and she likes to sit close to us when she's sleepy.

The bear above has since had his mouth chewed off, but she still loves him. (Click video below.)

All in all she is very loved and treasured and she must be so sick of all the kisses we give her. :) We are so in love with her and as tired as I am today, it's all worth it when I look at her having fun, or looking back at me wondering what I'm up to.

We'll be taking her to the vets tomorrow for her first injection, on the bus AND in her crate... It's going to be awful, but has to be done. Please cross your fingers for us!

Thanks for reading, though I'm sure you just came for the cute photos. ;) I can't blame you! I'm off to smile at her some more. <3

May.

Hello, Happy 1st of May!

I missed a previous Sunday blog post because my charger cable decided to die and Martin was away from home with the other one. I didn't get charged up till the Tuesday and I decided just to wait and do them both today. So, let's see how much I can remember!

I started off by making some little musical animals for a lovely lady who wants them for her mother in law.

Definetely different from what I usually make and took a lot longer than expected! But I had fun. :)

Next up I decided it was time again for a purple elephant.

Isn't she pretty? I always love making anything that's purple!

I've been so excited to finally start ordering things for our future puppy and so far I've made him a nice safe area where he can play and sleep in safety while he's being toilet trained. I've still got some toys and food to buy but he also has a crate for bringing him home in and for possibly sleeping in too, and a little blanket which we've been sleeping with so he can have our scents at night to comfort him.

We just need to wait for the landlord to give the go ahead now and our agent will send our new contract out and we can look for our new family member! I am so beyond excited to become a family of 3. :)

I made a couple of cute Guinea pigs too, I love these guys.

Oh and a purple sheep which can be a brooch or magnet.

And finally, the most recent things I've made have been these 3 cuties. (Please click for video.)

Aren't they delicious? They come in strawberry, black cherry and whipped cream flavours! Check out my Etsy shop to see all the new items. :)

And that's it as I've been in rest mode the past few days. I slept most of yesterday away and though I've been feeling a little better today I thought I'd rest one more day to give myself the best chance of a good week ahead.

Martin has an appointment on Thursday so we're thinking of making a day of it and heading into town and trying some mattresses as we need a new one, and visiting the pet store to pick up a few things we still need for puppy. I hope I'm feeling better by then as it's 45 mins away by bus. :( Still, it'll be a good opportunity while he's there anyway.

Till next time!
